One-off Plymouth Belmont concept

The 1950s became an era in which various automotive manufacturers, especially from the United States (US), wanted to move on to a bolder new future after the Second World War, where they then produced a variety of unique and fantastic concept cars.

One of the US automotive manufacturers including Chrysler, created a Plymouth Belmont dream concept car in 1954, with the body design and features that were classified as sophisticated in its time.

With fiberglass body and built on a standard Plymouth chassis, Belmont could actually be a Chrysler mainstay product to rival the Chevrolet Corvette and Ford Thunderbird, if only this concept was approved for production.

Unfortunately, management did not allow the production of Plymouth Belmont, and eventually, this concept became the only unit - and a complete prototype - ever built. Fortunately, even though many previous Plymouth concept cars were destroyed, Belmont was 'rescued' by Virgil Exner (Chrysler's Vice President of Design in that era), who took him home and took care of it.

About 60 years later, the Plymouth Belmont Concept is still in very well maintained condition. The car has been auctioned by Barrett-Jackson in early 2018 and was sold at $1,320,000.
The car is equipped with its original 4.0-liter V8 engine, which can produce power of 157 horsepower and mated with a three-speed automatic transmission system.

Another unique and scarce French-made microcar

It can be said if the car is not much different from humans when viewed in terms of size, there are those who have large sizes and some are even small and cute. There are types of vehicles known as microcar that are so small that they only can be used in tandem positition. Not only small in size, but also has a cute design but very adorable when you see it.
1950 Reyonnah prototype microcar. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/33DgxP4)
Then these cute cars or microcars ever reached their peak in the late 1940s to early 1950s. It recorded, some of the world's automotive manufacturers have ever been made variants of these cute cars such as BMW Isetta, then there're Heinkel Kabine, Messerschmitt KR175, Piaggio Vespa 400, Paul Vallée Chantecler and many others.

Well, have you ever heard or seen the figure of the French-made microcar named Reyonnah Microcar? If not, we will discuss it now. The microcar was originally made by Robert Hannoyer, the owner of an auto repair shop in Paris. Uniquely, the name of the car is taken from the car maker's last name reversed was Reyonnah (the reversed of 'Hannoyer').
1951 Reyonnah production version microcar. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2Y0OsQP)
The prototype was shown off for the first time at Paris Salon de l'Auto in 1950 (the blue-colored car) while the production version in 1951 (the white-colored one). This cute car shaped like a torpedo has a dimension of length of 2.9 meters and width of only 1.45 meters. Even so narrow, the car's cabin layout is made like a motorcycle, where its passenger sit directly behind the driver.

There is another unique thing, the blue-colored prototype car uses the tub with parallelogram hinges construction and can be folded downwards, so the vehicle can occupies a parking area only 75 cm wide. While the production version (white colored car) settled on, with a hinged convertible roof.
To be able to make it run, this cute car (both prototype and production version) uses a 4-stroke single-cylinder AMC's engine with a displacement of 175cc, and capable of spewing power around 8.5 horsepower. But don't expect to be speeding if you drive in this cute car, because the top speed is only 70 kph!

This cute car is very rare, due to were made in limited numbers. So do not be surprised if at this time, Reyonnah Microcar much sought after by the automotive collectors in the world. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MICROCAR MUSEUM]

Mercedes-Benz's hot rod-styled concept car

Recently the famous German automotive manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz showcased its newest Vision Mercedes Simplex, a concept car carried a classic hot rod-styled in a futuristic nuanced. As reported of Carscoops, the well-known German automotive manufacturer has been unveiled the Vision Mercedes Simplex concept car at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2019.
The Vision Mercedes Simplex, a concept car carried a classic hot rod-styled in a futuristic nuanced inspired by 1901 Mercedes 35 HP Simplex. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2QUUi4t)
News about this Mercedes-Benz concept car has actually been heard since mid-September 2019. It is said that the Vision Mercedes Simplex concept car was inspired by the 1901-produced classic car named the Mercedes 35 HP Simplex, which is known as a quite dominating racing car in the Nice-La Turbie racing event in France. This car is also known as the company's first car.
The Vision Mercedes Simplex comes with a monocoque frame but has no roof and windshield. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2KWTUPi)
And after 118 years, Mercedes-Benz again presented a concept model taken from the series. As a result, here's a car created in a nice color combination of white, blue and black named the Vision Mercedes Simplex wrapped in a perfect combination of classic and futuristic styles.
1901 Mercedes 35 HP Simplex, the first DMG's car used name 'Mercedes,' was developed by DMG's chief designer Wilhelm Maybach for Emil Jellinek. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/30LBd6v)
The Vision Mercedes Simplex comes with a monocoque frame but has no roof and windshield. While the car's cabin which was given an azure blue color on the floor and its seats can only accommodate two people (driver and passenger) who sat on a luxury seat made by Chesterfield. And the dashboard displays a simple classic car typical style with instrument clusters in a touch of rose gold accents.

The exterior is given a white finish for the front and black on the back. Both of these colors are also used for the wheels. The grill design looks futuristic with some typical the company's logo filling the inside. But on the part that is shaped like a radiator in front daubed with a touch of rose gold accents and added a 3D display with 'Mercedes' writing digitally.

Unfortunately, there are no technical specifications of this Vision Mercedes Simplex concept, only mentioned that this is a sculpture on wheels that was made as a show-car. Through this concept, Mercedes-Benz also wants to convey a message, if they always prioritize luxury and also complementary innovations between past and future history.
And the Mercedes-Benz's chief design officer, Gorden Wagener said, "Only a strong brand like Mercedes-Benz, which is able to build a car with a blend of history and future, and the Vision Mercedes Simplex became a symbol of transformation from Mercedes-Benz which already has a strong image as a luxury car brand." *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAIMLER | CARSCOOPS | MOTOR1]

It wasn't the mythical box, just the 1950s Japs scarce scooter

The presence of many new scooter models today does not necessarily make classic scooters lose their prestige. Likewise, the classic scooters presented by the Japanese brands from around the 1950s may still be few who know of its existence. As has been known and been presented in previous articles about the existence of several early scooters made by Japanese companies from the era of the 1950s.
1959 Tosho Pandora 125 cc scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2XT3ZlL)
Now on this occasion, we still discussed one of the unfamiliar Japanese-made scooters of the 1950s. Maybe some of you are not familiar with the Tosho brand that we will discuss in this article. The Japanese manufacturer with the formal name 'Tosho Auto Industry Co., Ltd.' is known for its two-wheeled vehicle products only for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) in a relatively short period of times, namely 1958 and 1963. So this is probably why the company's products are only known in Japan.
1958 Tosho Echo 50 cc moped. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/37CkzKM)
From a source we found in cyberspace which later quoted by us, namely www.oldjapanesebikes.com, this company is a joint venture company between a Japanese pioneers Tohatsu and Changwon so that's known as Tochang (while other sources mention that the company collaborated with Showa).

The company has a base in Chiyoda, Tokyo. And during its time in the world of the two-wheeled vehicle industry, the company was recorded to have ever produced a moped in 1958 named Tosho Echo, which uses an engine of its own-made with the capacity of 50 cc.
1959 Tosho Pandora 125 cc scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/37CkzKM)
Then in 1959, the manufacturer was later launching a prototype scooter that was named Tosho Pandora or Pandra, in contrast to a moped powered by a machine with a displacement of 50 cc, then this Pandora scooter used a 125 cc engine displacement. Interestingly, both of them turned out to apply the pull-starter system to start their engine, instead of the kick-starter like most motorbikes at the time.
1959 Tosho Pandora 125 cc scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2OKneK5)
Then no less unique, the Tosho Pandora scooter was looked pretty cool with a tailfin shape that at a glance similar to one that pinned on the American car-made at the time such as the Chevrolet Bel Air and others. At that time, the existence of the tailfin was believed to be a 'stabilizer' to place the 'pressure center' as far as possible behind the vehicle (if it's applied to cars). But if it is applied to a scooter, what should the function of it? What do you think?

Finally, in 1963, the company was taken over by Yamaha Motor Company, one of the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers after being unable to survive the harsh business competition in the two-wheeled vehicle industry and since then this brand was disappeared.😢
1959 Tosho Pandora 125 cc scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2XGJ2KD)
Hence, the existence of the Tosho Pandora scooter today is very rare, even in Japan too. This is indicated by the rarity of pictures from this scooter in cyberspace and even some of the images that were later displayed in this article were also coming from those few sources.

Due to its rarity, it made seem like a mysterious figure like the mythical box Pandora's box. If you have additional information regarding this unique Japanese scooter. Don't hesitate to comment in Our comments column below. We really appreciate all the information you submit.

Get to know about the BMW' first scooter

BMW, one of the German automotive giants, besides making various kinds of premium cars, also is known manufactures the topnotch motorcycles and scooters.

In the scooter segment, to date, BMW has marketed its newest BMW C650 GT scooter model. And you can see these BMW's big scooters have made its debut at the 2019 EICMA held in Milan some time ago.
The BMW R10 scooter never put into the production line and replaced by BMW Isetta. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2OnWsqB)
Meanwhile, if the automotive enthusiasts are given a question about the first scooter produced by BMW. Most of them will answer that the BMW C1 model which was produced from 2000 to 2002 is the first scooter made by this German manufacturer. That's not the right answer.

And the correct answer is the BMW R10 which was made in the 1950s. Yes, actually this German manufacturer had been started the scooter segment business nearly 67 years ago, were at that time (in 1953-1954) they made 2 unit scooters later known as BMW R10. Although only as a prototype, but is noted as the starting point of the German manufacturer in the scooter segment.
The BMW C1 was not the first BMW-made scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2OnWsqB)
It seems, at the time BMW was also tempted by the success stories of Italian scooter manufacturers such as Piaggio and Innocenti. So they decided to follow in the footsteps of those two Italian manufacturers to dive into the scooter segment.
Unfortunately, the BMW R10 did not succeed in becoming the company's commercial product. The German automotive giant did not give a chance to these scooter-typed vehicles to appear widely in the world, and that might be the reason why it was forgotten then.😢

In the time, this BMW R10 scooter came with a design that is directed to a shape that slightly different than its German or Italian-made rival scooters that existed at that time such as Vespa, Lambretta or Heinkel, etc.
The BMW R10 had a large fairing that served as both leg shield and front fender. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2OnWsqB)
Unlike the successful Vespas of that era, the BMW R10 scooter prototype had a large fairing that served as both leg shield and front fender. So that the R10 has a prominent front fender made it look a bit like a cyclops version of Snoopy from Charles Schultz’s 'Peanuts' comic strip, elongated rear body, and seats for 2 people.
The 1st prototype of 1953 BMW R10 was equipped with a single-cylinder 175cc engine and 198cc on the 2nd one produced in 1954. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2XoVize)
The first prototype produced in 1953 was equipped with a single-cylinder 175cc engine capable of producing about 8hp while the second one made in 1954 was equipped with a 198cc producing about 10 hp.
Initially, the German company planned to launch the BMW R10 in 1954, but................. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2O0BwqE)
Initially, the German company planned to launch the BMW R10 in 1954. But the scooter didn't put into the production line due to the company's financial situation was not favorable. At that time, BMW was more interested in four-wheeled vehicle products that were believed to bring new solutions for urban transportation at the time.
The BMW Isetta 300 then put into the production line replaced the BMW R10 scooter in 1954. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/32UIu4I)
So be the BMW Isetta, a microcar model which is then put into the production line to replace the BMW R10 scooter. And the results are also not disappointing with total sales of over 160,000 units of the BMW Isetta. So it made proof of the microcars were the company's right choice in the time. Now, there are just two of these wonderful R10 scooters in existence – both safely kept in the BMW Group Classic collection in Munich.

Another mysterious scooter of France

It turns out that many mysterious scooters have been born in France in the past. After some time ago we were discussed the mysterious figure of the prototype scooter named Proto Delaplace, then there was Gloobyscoot. And now, the scooter to be discussed is the 1957 Boudier Super B58. A t il vraiement éxisté?
The Boudier Super B58 scooter was designed by Pierre Boudier and uses a 125 cc horizontal Ydral's engine combined with the 3-speed manual transmission system. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/33HuFYB)

This French scooter was designed by Pierre Boudier by using a 125 cc horizontal engine from Ydral and combined with the 3-speed manual transmission system. The prototype scooter has debuted at the Salon de l'Auto 1957 held in Paris in October. So far there was no information about the scooter manufacturer.

After that this scooter was manufactured by the Ateliers Aéronautiques de Rambouillet, where the scooter had used a fiberglass body, then in front there was a conventional scooter-style headlight with a large fog light within the front guard.

(Picture from:  http://bit.ly/2ObXzJJ)
This scooter is also equipped with foot operated-integral hydraulic brakes and the independent front brake on the handlebars.

On the back is mounted the fuel tank, spare tires, and oscillating suspension system. While in the front, its suspension with drawn-wheel and Neiman rings.

The scooters are planned to be sold in the fall plus its 50 cc scooter version, but it was not ever produced. And it seems that the scooter is the only one that has ever been produced under the Boudier brand. 😢

Until now we don't have any information about where's this scooter now? If you have additional information about this mysterious scooter figure, don't hesitate to submit it to the comments box below. We really appreciate your help. Wanna see the Lutz rounded design scooter

Super exclussive scooter of Maserati

Maybe all this time we know that the automotive manufacturer from Italy, Maserati only makes cars. It turned out that in the past this Italian automotive manufacturer had tried to make a scooter, as part of its efforts to expand its business as a scooter producer in South America.
Brochure of 1957 Maserati M2 Alférez 150 cc scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/32kirDR)
The Alférez known as the only Maserati scooter in existence starts when Maserati began a collaboration with Iso Rivolta. Iso is probably best known today for developing the Isetta bubble car, but also had a history of producing sports cars, motorcycles, and scooters.
1957 Maserati M2 Alférez scooter. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2JMkE4h)
Maserati together with Iso Rivolta ever produced two concepts/prototype scooters in 1957, the M1 (now unfortunately lost in history, but probably a 125 cc) and the M2 – the 150 cc Alférez.

The frame and engine numbers are simple 'M2,' and the Maserati logo on the crankcase is worth taking a second look at. The horn cast Maserati badge is unique too… with a red racing car alluding to their Grand Prix heritage, and the name Alférez… a link to the Maserati founders name (Alfieri), but tellingly translated in Spanish… a hint to their ambitions in Latin America, where scooters were so popular, and the Lambretta and Vespa names might be not so known in these regions.

But a promotional trip to Mexico ended badly, then Maserati abandoned the scooter market. The M2 prototype remained too, finally ending up in Texas, where it resides today. Iso continued making scooters, and while being less commercially successful than Innocenti and Piaggio, are one of the few manufacturers a run for their money in styling.

Fiat Eden Roc. a beautiful, rare, and unusual car ever made

You may not have heard of Fiat Eden Roc. That is natural because this car has only ever been built in two units in the world. This unique car is an Autobianchi Bianchina minicar based model built specifically for Gianni Agnelli, the founder and former CEO of Fiat, who urgently needed a comfortable and fun vehicle for his guests to come to explore the vast property he had in Villefranche-sur-Mer, around Villa La Leopolda, on the French Riviera.
1956 Fiat Eden Roc was built based on the Fiat 600. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2nXuTLu)
With a beautiful nautical design element, exceptional craftsmanship and Pininfarina’s trademark on it, this truly is a masterpiece. Fiat Eden Roc was created by taking the design of the beauty of the beach and the sea. All things from this classic Fiat are handmade and full of precision and use the highest quality materials at the time.

The stylists and craftsmen at Pininfarina quickly set about creating the unique vehicle atop a stretched and widened Fiat 600 Multipla chassis. Along the way, the engine was increased in displacement to 962 cc for better performance and now makes an estimated 50 bhp.

The extravagant model was presented at the 1956 Paris Motor Show, and then Chairman of Union Oil, William Doheny also wanted to make one more unit for him. Doheny ordered a copy of the charming Eden Roc to use at his Lake Arrowhead compound.
This unit would make for the second one the Italian designer has records off. And rumors of a third example, purportedly built for Henry Ford II, so far remain speculative. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CORNICHEWATCHES | ITALIANWAYS | AUTOEVOLUTION]
