What was the oldest pyramid in the World?

The discovery of the tomb in the pyramid-shaped in the region of Sary-Arka, near the city of Karaganda, Kazakhstan was viral in various online media some time ago. Rumors said that this pyramid is the oldest pyramid in the world, but archeologists denied it.

"The age precisely was uncertain, but most likely this pyramid was built in the late Bronze Age, over 3,000 years ago, or 1,000 years after the ancient Egyptians built their first pyramids, ie Pyramid of Djoser about 4,700 years ago," said Viktor Novozhenov, an archaeologist of Karaganda University who involved in the excavation of the tomb, as quoted by LiveScience.

The newly discovered pyramid is relatively small, with a height of 2 meters and a length of 14 meters. "The pyramid is made of rock, soil and slabs on the outside," said Novozhenov. If judging from the form of construction, the archaeologists estimate that the pyramid built for the ancient king or clan leader.

In addition, the structure is also unique. In contrast to most of the Egyptian pyramids that have taper peak, the peak of these new pyramid is actually flat, like the Pyramid of Djoser.

So far, the results of excavations conducted by the archaeologist team showed that the pyramid was created with similar goals with the Egyptian pyramids, the tomb structure in it. Novozhenov was uploaded the picture of the pyramid ruins in his Facebook account.

Unfortunately, the burial chamber in the pyramid has been looted, even though there are still remnants of pottery, knives and another bronze objects. It is uncertain whether or not the human remains are buried there.

Until now, the process of excavation is still ongoing. Archaeologists hope the discovery could provide new information about Begazy-Dandybai civilization that lived in the middle Kazakhstan at the era. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE]

Researchers developed a small gadget for water sterilization

Naturally, the contaminated water is able to be sterilized by sunlight through the UV rays that kill bacteria within 48 hours to complete the process. However, a tiny gadget being developed by the researchers from Stanford University and SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory utilizes a wider spectrum of sunlight to speed up the sterilization process.

"Our device looks like a little rectangular black glass," explains lead researcher Chong Liu of Stanford University. "We just dropped it into the water and put everything under the Sun, and the Sun did all the work."

The Sun's rays are moving electrons in the device using a molybdenum disulfide that is capable of creating a reaction in the water. Hydrogen peroxide and other disinfectants evolving from this reaction, which is able to work to clean the bacteria in the water.

"It really works. Our concern is to find ways to overcome the problem of pollution so that people can live better," said Liu. This technology is able to compete in the market, because molybdenum disulfide is very cheap to produce. Thus the process of sterilizing water with this tool will be more efficient and cheaper.

Although promising, but this method does not eliminate chemical pollutants researcher and has only been tested on three strains of bacteria were mixed with less than one ounce of water in a laboratory. The next step is to test the device in real-world stew contaminants. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SCOPE]

Darizt Design Builds Retro Masterpiece from Classic Honda

Heritage Reimagined - Retro-style motorcycles have recently become a rising trend on the streets of Indonesia, with the vintage aesthetic usually applied to modern automatic scooters. But what if a classic motorcycle is modified to look even older than its original era? That’s exactly what Yogyakarta-based custom builder Darizt Design achieved with their project, 2nd Attempt—a transformation of a 1985 Honda GL 100 into a machine that looks like it rolled straight out of the pre-World War II era.

The modifications are nothing short of extreme. The entire frame was rebuilt from scratch, with only the original Honda GL 100 engine retained. Even more impressive is that the work was completed using only basic tools and simple equipment. At a glance, the bike resembles an antique bicycle. The frame, handcrafted by Darizt Design, uses ¾-inch steel tubing. To eliminate the visual gap under the seat, the builder cleverly installed an oil filter to fill the space.

One of the most ingenious elements is the suspension system
. While most vintage motorcycles use exposed springs for the front suspension, this custom bike hides them within the frame. The rear suspension features a uniquely designed monoshock setup, blending old-school charm with modern functionality.

For added character, a small custom fuel tank is mounted within the central frame, paired with a bicycle-style seat. The rear end is completed with a custom exhaust, while both the front and rear wheels are fitted with 19-inch rims, amplifying its classic appeal. Thanks to Darizt Design’s creativity and craftsmanship, the 2nd Attempt has earned numerous championship titles in motorcycle contests across Indonesia—a testament to the timeless allure of true custom work.
