The world's biggest Volkswagen Beetle

Making something unique to be able to look different, still seems to be a powerful weapon for automotive enthusiasts in making an automotive creation. Because basically all of us will always be interested in seeing something unique, eccentric or unusual.

The big and the regular. The VW Beetle at right has been made 40 percent bigger than a normal-sized version. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/37fvZUa)
This creative work began by scanned digitally the parts of the 1959 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible which was then enlarged 40 percent in size. The builder said, there are 3,514 auto parts that should be made in their metal fabrication workshop. And even the screws are made from scratch because there is no size-matched on the market.

Then the road-legal big VW Beetle was built atop an adjusted chassis of a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup truck. And its drivetrain uses a 5.7-liter V8 Hemi engine which is placed on the front. This car is really big with a total weight of around 6,200 lbs (about 2.8 ton), and the hood alone is about 200 lbs (90.72 kg).
Meanwhile, the inside of the car is made as perfect as the exterior, where there is one of the notable features, namely the instrument panels on the dashboard are made according to the original design but not work. Instead, there are digital instrument panels that drop down from behind its big dashboard when the driver starts the engine. And according to the builder, this big-sized VW Beetle can accommodate 10 people at once in the cabin.

In the making process of this big-sized VW Beetle, its materials alone spent about US.$15,000 and now is estimated to be worth $1.25 million. Wow!  *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | USA TODAY | STUFF]

An Austrian Porsche Beetle

Nowadays we can’t toss the term hybrid around without people thinking electric-first rather than one vehicle’s powertrain in another vehicle’s body. Back before Prii and Insights were all the rage, the term hybrids was used to describe a vehicle that received an engine transplant from another vehicle.

Dashboard view of Carmaxx Classic's Bugster. (Picture from: http://aol.it/1H6otJU)
This combination is possibly one of the most awesome marriages we’ve ever seen. Siegfried Rudolf, owner of CarMaxx out in Austria (not to be mistaken for Carmax in America), combined a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle with a 2000 Porsche Boxster convertible. The result is a slick looking car, despite its age, sporting 18-inch mesh wheels and custom fenders.
Rear side view of Carmaxx Classic's Bugster. (Picture from: http://aol.it/1H6otJU)
From off, the car looks like a nicely restored, slightly modified Bug. Up close, though, the enormous side vents, 18-inch wheels and Porsche dashboard start to hint at this thing's dirty little secret. The car sports custom fenders to properly cover its wider track and wheels, and the whole set up rides on a fully-adjustable suspension.
Now equipped with the mid-engined Porsche Boxster powerplant, the Beetle puts out 270-hp, making it a complete blast to drive we’re sure. It’s also dialed-in with fully adjustable suspension and even sports the complete Porsche dash on the interior. Dropping a classic Beetle shell onto a Porsche Boxster chassis? We dig it. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARMAXX AUTOMOBILE | AUTOBLOG]
