Delage reborn with all-new stunning supercar

Delage? Is there a car brand like that? Maybe that's the question when you just look at the name. It is not surprising that some automotive enthusiasts currently do not know the brand. Actually, this is one of the French fancy car manufacturer brands and existed since the 1920s up to the 1950s.

After nearly 70 years the name hibernated and at the Lyon EpoquAuto event held on November 7, 2019, a well-known French businessman, Laurent Tapie announced the French fancy car brand is revived under the name Delage Automobile and said the Delage D12 is the first project and model to be launched soon. Delage is trying to come back by presenting a car that is believed to be welcomed by the world's automotive fans.

Why can the company be sure like that? Due to the car presented is a supercar that has a shape resembling a Formula 1 racing car. No half-hearted, they also claimed, it's the fastest hybrid supercar in the world, which is legal to use on the road. Besides that, the French company also mentioned that the former F1 champion, Jacques Villeneuve, and technical director Benoit Bagur, who is a two-time FIA Touring Car World Champion were involved in the development process of its D12 supercar.

At first glance, its appearances remind us of the Caparo T1 which was ever-present in the late 2000s. However, the D12 supercar appears with an ultramodern design, that's said a combination of designs inspired by Formula 1 and a fighter jet, where both was the fastest vehicle in their respective fields with unmatched agility. So there is no need to question how the F1 inspiration elements are applied to this Delage supercar.

On the front, just look at the long, flat muzzle in the middle which is the F1 racing car typical design. Then from the muzzle, it is connected by a tiered front spoiler, where the lower one is flat in design with three blades on the right and left, just like single-seater aerodynamics. Meanwhile, the upper spoiler is connected to the front fender, where its slanted-headlights is attached, to fulfill one of the requirements as a street-legal vehicle.

The muzzle also has a transparent portion, which clearly exposes the suspension components. Then the cockpit is given a greenhouse roof which also covers the cabin. Uniquely, not an ordinary door system but canopy flip-up design opens upward, is used to access the D12 cockpit like the pilot access into a fighter jet cockpit. The same design direction is applied to the driver and passenger seat layout, which is positioned parallel or in tandem, so that the D12 cockpit can only be filled by two people, just like the F-18 and F-35 cockpits.

The two seats in the D12 cockpit uses carbon fiber material to create very lightweight structures. The steering wheel design is also unique, combining design elements of a racing car steering wheel and a jet fighter joystick. Furthermore, on the dashboard in front of the driver, there are three LED monitors. And the company also said the Focal's infotainment system will be installed inside its cabin.

The body is slim at the front and the cockpit area extends to the rear. Then the rear fenders widen to accommodate airflow for the engine cooling system. The upper-middle section covered by the glass so the engine compartment could be seen, moving slightly downside there's a large air scoop. And further back, the shape of the D12 increasingly resembles an ordinary fast car that is completely covered.

At first glance, the stern appearance is completely grim with large cavities on the right and left. Then, two exhausts are located in the middle, to allow a large diffuser to be attached at the bottom. On the upper side, attached a large and wide wing. Meanwhile, its all four wheels are seen using the black-colored carbon fiber rims.

This hybrid-powered supercar was developed in 2 variants, namely the D12 GT and D12 Club. The performance of the D12 GT variant relies on the power from a 7.5 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, which is capable of spraying up to 990 hp and is also supported by an electric motor that provides an additional power of 110 hp, so in total, its generated-power is 1,100 hp. As for the performance of the second variant, it only relies on a drivetrain that is powered by 1,010 hp only but has lighter weight.

The D12 GT variant has an empty weight of 1,399.8 kilograms, while the D12 Club which is exclusively for track-focused performance is 1,310 kilograms. By numbers, the D12 Club is 89.8 kilograms lighter than the GT. However, Delage has yet to reveal the acceleration and top speed performance figures of the two variants of the D12 supercar. 
The French automotive company claims that in the near future the D12 supercar will soon break the fastest lap records at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Furthermore, Delage also said that the D12 supercar will only be produced as many as 30 units and will be sold at a price of around $ 2.3 million (Rp.33 billion) per unit. The first wedge-shaped concept car of Ferrari

Ferrari, the iconic supercar manufacturer that houses everything about Italian sports cars, such as passion, emotion, beauty, and speed. With a well-known history of road cars and racing cars, there have been countless beautiful car models from time to time, but there are also many models that were never seen on the production list.

Luckily, most of them are concept cars that don't go any further. At other times, the concepts inspire a production vehicle that goes by much more beautifully, and sometimes special designers try to create a new Ferrari that should remain in their imagination.

One of them is the Ferrari 512S Berlinetta Speciale concept car whose entire development work was done by Pininfarina and launched for the first time at the Turin Motor Show 1969. This concept was created by Filippo Sapino, who has been known for 3 decades as a design director at Ghia. But his most striking project was this Ferrari concept car during his brief tenure at Pininfarina in the late 1960s.

This is the first Ferrari concept car to apply a wedge-shaped design that defines the trend of car design in the 1970s. Besides that, the naming of the concept car is also confusing, first from the '512S' moniker, but no 5.0-liter V12 under the rear clamshell grille. Furthermore, although it is based on the 312P, the engine was not the 3.0 liter 12 cylinder, but the 6.0 liter of the 612 Can-Am. Sadly, the concept car was not a drivable vehicle as the engine block has no innards. Might be someday you able to see it running on the streets after the real engine had been attached.

Apart from that, Sapino had made the most of the floor-hugging physique of the chassis, adding some unorthodox surface treatments to visually transform static into supersonic. Uniquely, not an ordinary door system but a canopy flip-up is used to access the cabin of this car, which was then also applied to another 512S concept made a year later (1970) called Paulo Martin's Ferrari 512S Modulo. 
Yes, the car concept design looks very different from previous models made by Pininfarina such as the Ferrari 250 P5 Berlinetta Speciale designed by Leonardo Fioravanti in 1968. Unfortunately, only one example of the 512S Berlinetta Speciale was made.

RMD Garage's Legacy Chevy Bel Air'56

The RMD Garage, a Californian modification workshop that usually transforms old cars into luxurious motorized-vehicle works of art. And this time they succeeded in turning a 64-year-old Chevrolet Bel Air into beautiful, luxurious rides.

As quoted from Formacar, Monday (25/5/2020), there's a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air owned by Dave Moreau from So Cal Classic Car Storage who has seen plenty of the cars made like new over the years. But this 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air was different from others, it feels something special for him because he inherited it from his grandfather, so named the car as Legacy.

After more than half a century of use for daily activity, now this legendary vintage coupe is demanding a complete overhaul of the drivetrain, chassis, and cabin. So then the car owner entrusted these jobs to RMD Garage. And after spending several thousand work hours they managed to get it all done.

Although the car is an old Chevrolet, after rejuvenating, its LS3 V8 engine taken from modern Corvette can produce 450 hp (336 kW) of power, as well as there's applies a Borla doubled-exhausts, and also a four-link coil-over suspension system. While for the brakes were entrusted to the Wilwood six-piston to ensure proper braking at all times and finally its new body received an elegant, fresh white and red wine color coating.

One of the most beautiful Maseratis ever

It might be true if there are automotive enthusiasts who argue that the cars created in the 1950s and 1960s are a high-level achievement from a work of art in the form of motorized vehicles, especially cars. Due to almost all the process of making a car at that time was done manually.

As a result, today We could be seen there were plenty of beautiful and exotic car models created of the magical hand touches of automotive designers in the era which not only has beauty but is very sturdy, powerful when driven on a racing track. This then inspires vehicle designers today to design more powerful vehicles in accordance with the demands of the times.

And one of them is the Maserati A6GC/53 which began to be seen by the public in 1954. As quoted of supercars.net, the A6GCS chassis was a derivative of the A6 Sportscar that was powered by a short-stroke, double ignition, inline-6 that was one of the last units designed by the Maserati brothers.

These beautiful car series were originally built to compete in the World Sportscar Championship. The Maserati A6GCS/53 models built-in 1953 to 1955 and were powered by a 170 bhp engine. The initial model was made in a spider version designed by Gioacchino Colombo then refined by Medardo Fantuzzi and Celestino Fiandri. A total of fifty-two cars were made at that time.

Then Pininfarina made four additional Berlinetta models and one spider designed by Aldo Brovarone. The Pininfarina A6GCS Berlinetta models commissioned by the owner of a Maserati auto dealer in Rome named Guglielmo Dei who previously has acquired six A6GCS chassis. And Vignale, another Italian coachbuilder company, made the spider model.

The making of the four A6GCS Berlinetta models by Pininfarina was protested by Enzo Ferrari, due to at that time the brand was in a restricting contract with Ferrari, so Maserati could not sell directly the models. And this is considered by Ferrari inapposite the agreement signed in the contract. And this reason why the model is becoming the last Maserati made by Pininfarina for the next five decades.

And 4 copies of the Pininfarina's Maserati A6 GCS uses a 2.0-liter six-cylinder naturally-aspirated DOHC engine could be spewed power of 170 hp at 7,300 rpm and torque of 194 Nm at 5,600 rpm coupled with 4-speed manual transmission gearbox. This allows the Maserati A6 GCS to accelerate up to the top speed of 235 kph.
So after this car was completed and then jumped into the "Mille Miglia" race in 1953, which is known for frequent heavy storms and heavy rain when the race was in progress. The cutest microcars of the 20th centuries

The tiny-little cars aka microcars had booming moments and experienced a surge in demand shortly after World War II ended. At that time, many beautiful to weird-shaped microcars were popping up on the streets.

Despite being a reliable and affordable means of transportation, it also creates a unique view because of its unusual and strange shape. Here are some microcars that appeared in that era and have unique and strange looks.

1. Davis D-2 Divan
This odd three-wheeled and two-door sedan was the brainchild of used-car salesman Glen Gordon "Gary" Davis largely based upon "The Californian", a custom three-wheeled roadster built by future Indianapolis 500 racing car designer Frank Kurtis for Southern Californian millionaire and racer Joel Thorne.

The microcars were built between 1947 and 1949 by Davis Motorcar Company. This unique microcar uses a 47 hp four-cylinder engine but later changed to a 63 hp four. The manufacture of this microcar began in 1947 with 2 prototypes. Only 13 Divans (including the two prototypes) were ever built, of which 12 have survived. The car featured aircraft-inspired styling details as well as disc brakes, hidden headlights, and built-in jacks.

2. Mochet Type K
This microcar was built by Automobiles Mochet, a French Puteaux-based manufacturer starting in 1947 and sold until 1949. This Type-K car is said to be the company's first car to have metal bodywork (although the doors are wooden) but retained mechanical features of the previous version (Type -H).

This microcar uses a Zurcher 125cc 2-stroke engine coupled to a separate 3-speed gearbox. And it is estimated that at that time these odd-shaped microcars were made of 650 units.

3. Champion CH-2
There're 11 units of these cutie microcars that were ever made in 1949 by Hermann Holbein Fahrzeugbau in Ulm, Germany. Perhaps 2 of these original CH-2 models survive today. These micro-cars are largely using motorcycle parts, such as tires and Triumphs 5 hp engines. The CH-2 was designed by Hermann Holbein, a former development engineer of BMW before WWII and an Albert Maier, an engineer of the gear-maker ZF Company in 1949.

Unfortunately, Holbein was an engineer and not a businessman and soon became overwhelmed with all the details and keep suppliers and partners happy. When the first cars developed transmission problems, he recalled them all for repair.

4. Rolux VB60 Baby
This unique microcar was built from 1949 to 1951 by Societé Rolux, a French's Clermont-Ferrand based manufacturer. At that time the manufacturer made as many as 400 units of this cutie car.

The microcar uses a 125 cubic-centimeter Ydral engine which drove the left rear wheel via a cardan shaft. The small car measured 105 inches in length and was held in place by a leaf spring suspension. The body consisted of a steel-framed folding windshield, roadster body, and pointed rear fenders. 

5. Biscúter
1950 Biscúter was designed by Gabriel Voisin and one of the most popular cutie cars in Spain during the 1950s. The name Biscúter (Biscooter) implied that it was about the size of two scooters or also could be said as a scooter with four wheels. Uniquely, the microcar has no doors or windows or even reverse gear, uses a 1 cylinder, 197 cc, two-stroke motor produced 9 horsepower (7 kW), had a crank starter, and drove only the right front wheel.

The microcar manufactured in Barcelona, Spain by Auto Nacional, SA. and the first car never had a formal model name and was called simply the Series 100, but it soon became known as the Zapatilla, or little shoe (clog), after a low-heeled peasant slipper popular at the time. 

6. Allard Clipper
This is an English 3-wheeler produced by Allard Motor Company from 1952 to 1954. Microcars are also known as lightweight sports cars, due to the bodywork made of fiberglass and used the rear-mounted Villiers 24B 346 cc (21.1 cu in) single-cylinder two-stroke motorcycle engine drives the rear left wheel via a Burman gearbox and chain.

The car was designed by David Gottlieb and advertised as having an "indestructible" plastic body, made by Hordern-Richmond Ltd; the Clipper was the first car to have a color-impregnated fiberglass body. It seats three adults on a bench seat and two children in optional dickey seats revealed when the rear boot is opened. 

7. Gaitán Auto-Tri
Actually not much information related to this microcar. What is known is that this car was produced by a Seville-based motorized-vehicle manufacturer company named Construcciones Gaitán SL. This Spaniard-made microcar has an egg-like shape made of aluminum with a three-wheel layout (two wheels at the front and one behind). This microcar is made in various models and one even functions as an ambulance.
This three-wheeled car was first shown to the public in November 1953 in Seville. But unfortunately, as quoted from autopasion18, this microcar was never commercialized but had a chance to grab its heydays as can you see in a Spanish documentary film of the 1953 above. The real Gordon Murray's T.50 supercar finally revealed

After working in about 18 months since the design was first revealed to the public. Recently on August 4, 2020, Gordon Murray Automotive launched the latest masterpiece named the GMA T.50, a supercar with a V12 engine, and has weighing less than 1,000 kg that is claimed as the to be much better than Gordon Murray's previous creation, the McLaren F1.

As we all knew, Gordon Murray is a key figure who plays an important role in designing various well-known sports and racing cars, such as the Brabham BT46B which is known as the 'Controversial Fan Car', the McLaren MP4/4, the winner of 15 of the 16 races of the F1 Grand Prix of the 1988 season, up to the McLaren F1, the winner of the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours, and many others.

Not without reason, GMA T.50 weighs only 980 kg. Yes, that's very impressive for a V12 engined car that produces 654 hp and 467 Nm of torque. Incredible, where every 1 hp of generated-power can carry loads of up to 1.507 kg, aka the power ratio of more than 1: 1! If that's not enough, you can find other interesting details brought back such as the fan system adopted from the Brabham BT46B.

On the front, the GMA T.50 has a similarity in design to the McLaren F1. Starting from a very low front design with smooth curves, and there are air holes on the side. Then installed a large windshield with a rounded concept, the glass on the large gullwing door, and the clear panel on top gives the impression of relief. Also present are air holes that directly direct the wind to the V12 engine, and the rear panel that can be opened with the gullwing concept like a door also gives access to see the rear suspension and engine.

The ultimate analog supercar design is obsessed with super-light cars, so GMA applies the use of carbon fiber material for the chassis and body of the T.50 supercar. The maker claims that the monocoque chassis and exterior panels weigh less than 150 kg. In dimensions, the GMA T.50 also has a very compact size, with a length of 4,352 mm, which means this car is one inch shorter than the Porsche 718 Cayman.

As mentioned above, one of the most interesting parts of the GMA T.50 is the 40 cm sized fan that is mounted behind the car body. The fan operates using a 48-volt electric motor with a maximum rotation of 7,000 rpm. The GMA T.50 rear fan increases downforce by up to 50% in normal driving mode, and 100% in braking. Not only downforce but this fan also serves to supply air for its rear-engine which ultimately increases the car's power up to 49 horsepower.

Then what about the engine? The GMA T.50 uses a 3,994 cc, V12 Cosworth bespoke engine which can be driven up to 12,100 rpm with the weight only 177 kg. This Naturally Aspirated engine is then connected to a 6-speed manual transmission Xtrac gearbox to transmit the power to drive the rear wheels.
The interior also looks similar to the McLaren F1's cockpit, where the driver sits in the middle with two passenger seats slightly back on right-left sides of the driver with a dashboard full of buttons and a titanium pedal. Like a racing car, the manufacturer will design the GMA T.50 cabin according to the prospective buyer, where the position of the seat, steering wheel, and pedals are precisely adjusted according to the buyer's request.

If the Ferrari sports car stretched into an exotic limousine

Recently, several photos of a Ferrari limo appeared on an Australian online car trading site, carsales.com.au. That might sound odds and have made us slightly doubt whether Ferrari ever made a limousine. But this is true, not a hoax.

After doing a careful search on the internet, it turns out that this limousine is the result of extreme modifications based on a Ferrari 360 Modena so it given a name of Ferrari 360 Modena Stretch Limousine. Inevitably made it the longest Ferrari ever and possibly the fastest limousine in the world.

For information, the 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena model which later transformed into a limousine uses an F131B 8-cylinder 3.6L DOHC VVT naturally-aspirated engine which is paired with a manual transmission gearbox.
