Ebola vaccine trials claimed hundred percent successful

Researchers who recently reported the successful testing Ebola vaccine up to 100 percent to  protect against those deadly disease. Even if the vaccine was not yet been approved by the appropriate authorities, but the study reported by The Lancet medical journal is considered very effective. In fact, the research that took place in Guinea was mentioned to have an emergency supply of 300,000 doses of Ebola vaccine to prevent the outbreak returned widespread.

"Although it is too late for those who have lost their lives because of the epidemic of Ebola in West Africa, this vaccine may be a way we survive," said Marie-Paule Kieny, Assistant Director General of Systems and Innovation at the World Health Organization (WHO) at the same time as the lead author of those research report.

Since the first Ebola case is discovered in the former area of Zaire in 1976, people have been making every effort to create a vaccine. It all started because of the emergency, but these efforts should be halted because of lack of funds.

WHO noted that approximately 1,600 people die due to the Ebola during the past few years, so become reputed as frightening disease. In 2014 an Ebola outbreak attacked 11,000 people in Africa and spread out around the world, and also killing some people in Europe and the United States. These series of events that made the competent authorities tried again to make an effective vaccine.

The test results of the vaccine trial in Guinea finally released on Thursday, December 22 2016 in The Lancet medical journal. The vaccine can not be used to stop the outbreak, but the prospects for vaccine supplies have now been brought optimism among the public health experts. The researchers have so far only suggests the Ebola possibility still lodged in various locations, such as trees and its spread is carried by bats.

The researchers say that the new vaccine still has some drawbacks, among others only worked against one of two types of Ebola virus alone, and there may be no long-term protection. In fact, some of the researchers also found that the side effects of the vaccine for the user, such as joint pain and headaches. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SCROLL.IN]

Reviving the Italian Flying Saucer: Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder

Iconic Masterpiece - The world of supercars is a realm where art and engineering meet, and one of the key players in this space is Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, an iconic Italian coachbuilder with a rich history. Known for transforming standard vehicles into masterpieces, Touring Superleggera, and in 2016 stunned the automotive world with its creation of the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder. This high-performance, two-door, roofless supercar is a modern tribute to the stunning design of the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante 2012, which also came from the minds at Touring Superleggera.

The Disco Volante name itself has roots tracing back to the 1950s, when Alfa Romeo first introduced the 1900 C52, a car that immediately captured attention due to its futuristic design. The term "Disco Volante," meaning "flying saucer" in Italian, was inspired by the car's shape, which resembled the imagined flying saucers of that era. At a time when space exploration and moon landings were part of popular imagination, the Disco Volante became a symbol of innovation and forward-thinking.

In creating the 2016 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder, Touring Superleggera took the foundation of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Spyder and reimagined it entirely. The original car was stripped down to just the frame, engine, and transmission, allowing the coachbuilder to inject its own creativity into every detail. This level of customization and respect for Italian tradition was key to the design process, ensuring that the Spyder stood as a tribute to both the heritage and future of Italian automotive craftsmanship.
Instead of just using the fabric roof from the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, the Disco Volante Spyder has two lightweight carbon fiber roof panels that weigh about eight pounds each and can be manually stowed in the trunk. (Picture from: RoadAndTrack)
The team behind the Disco Volante Spyder sought to deliver a car that felt as though the driver was one with the road, with no roof to interrupt the experience. To achieve this, a low windshield with a thin, nearly invisible frame was integrated into the design, and the side windows were seamlessly blended with the front glass. According to Louis de Fabribeckers, the head of design, the goal was to create a dynamic and powerful car that retained elegance without appearing overly aggressive. The result was a sleek, yet aggressive supercar that perfectly balanced these elements.

The 2016 Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder isn't just about looks. It was developed with cutting-edge technology to ensure both performance and safety. Advanced aerodynamics, structural analysis, and safety homologation were all considered during the design process. Utilizing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the Spyder achieves optimal air flow to reduce noise and maximize performance at high speeds. With the roof open, the car reaches speeds of up to 180 kph with minimal cabin noise, a feat few cars of its kind can match.

At the heart of the Disco Volante Spyder lies a 4.7-liter Maserati V8 engine, producing an impressive 444 horsepower. Paired with an automatic transmission, this powerhouse drives the rear wheels, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 4.5 seconds. With a top speed of 291 kph, the Spyder combines raw power with precision engineering. Notably, only seven units of this exclusive supercar were ever produced, making it a rare gem for collectors and automotive enthusiasts alike.
The Alfa Romeo Disco Volante Spyder is more than just a car; it's a celebration of innovation, tradition, and the pursuit of automotive perfection. It embodies the artistry of Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera and stands as a testament to Italy's legacy in car design. With its mix of futuristic styling, high performance, and limited production, the Disco Volante Spyder continues to capture the imagination of anyone who crosses its path. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARROZZERIA TOURING SUPERLEGGERA | ROAD&TRACK | TOPGEAR ]

Scientists developed an advanced robotic hand technology

Scientists from Cornell University succeeded in making history. They have managed to develop an advanced robotic hand which has the sensitivity like a human hand.

Yes, this robotic hand developed by a robotic team led by Robert Shepherd, an assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Cornell University was filled with optical fibers that can detect how light passed through the hands changes as it moves and comes into contact with other objects.

Unlike other robotic hand that has a sensor on the outside, this product puts the sensors inside making it more similar to the human hands. Typically, robots that sense what they touch rely on the object being able to conduct electricity, which the robot could then detect to try to learn things about what it’s touching.

The Cornell researchers said, that the technology is expected to help the disabled people with prosthetic hands to get their lives back. Due to these robotic hand has the ability to restore people’s sense of touch, or could give biologically inspired robots a more delicate and sensitive style of physical contacts.
As quoted from Recode on Monday, December 19, 2016, according to Huichan Zhao the Cornell doctoral candidate who is the lead author on the research on the soft robo-hand published in the Science Robotics journal this month said that she estimates that her team’s soft robotic hand could be made for as cheap as US. $50 (approx Rp.677 thousand). *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | RECODE]
