Ares Design S1 as limited-run NA V8 engined hypercar

Wild ONES An Italian coachbuilder company called Ares Design which was founded and run by the former Lotus boss Dany Bahar together with his Dubai-based business partner, Waleed Al Ghafari. To support its business activities, in 2018 the company built a 23,000 sqm design and engineering facility in Modena, Italy.
Ares Design S1 is a new road legal hypercar powered by a naturally aspirated V8 engine capable puts out 705 bhp of power and is claimed to spin up to the 8,800rpm redline for "its fiercest roar". (Picture from: Autoevolution)
From this company, it has been noted that so many exotic car models have been produced, and here are several exotic car models made by Ares Design (had ever discussed and published in Trussty) as follow; the Ares Rolls Royce Wraith in 2015 then the C2 Corvette StingRay, Wami Lalique Spyder in 2018, and the Panther ProgettoUno in 2019.

And the Modena-based company again showcased its work in the form of a new road legal hypercar powered by a naturally aspirated engine named Ares Design S1 at the Privé Salon event at Blenheim Palace in the UK in September 2020. The car on display at the event was a full-size model and reportedly, will be produced in limited only 24 units in 2021.
Ares Design S1 hypercar body was shaped by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for “maximum downforce and minimum aerodynamic resistance” and is created from “hand-crafted” carbonfibre panels. (Picture from: Autoevolution)
The S1 project is claimed to have been built in simple terms: "A car consisting of a hypercar design, supercar performance and a sports car price tag". While no pricing has been announced yet, it would  suggest that the S1 Project will be more affordable than the usual crop of low-volume, bespoke hypercars.

The body is shaped by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) for "maximum downforce and minimum aerodynamic resistance" and is constructed from "handcrafted" carbon fiber panels. Uniquely the mid-engined hypercar exhausts are protruded out of the bonnet, as in the Porsche 918 Spyder.
The all-new Ares Design S1 hypercar is powered by a naturally aspirated V8 engine borrowed from the Corvette C8. The unit puts out 705 bhp of power and is claimed to spin up to the 8,800rpm redline for "its fiercest roar". The C8's drivetrain is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and has a specific ECU tune and bespoke exhaust system.

With its aerodynamic and lightweight body, this road legal hypercar can accelerate from rest to 100 kph in just 2.7 seconds. Unfortunately no weight figures are given for this hypercar. We do know,  however, that it features double-wishbone suspension, forged aluminium axles and adaptive ride control for a “potent yet uncomplicated drive”.

As quoted of Autoevolution, Supercar Blondie, a well-known automotive vlogger become the first buyer of the Ares Design S1 and said that she paid around US $ 650,000 or roughly Rp. 9.5 billion for an S1. Even though previously the hypercar price is predicted to be more than US $ 1million or approx Rp. 15 billion. How lucky she is.
Furthermore, the world's most famous female automotive vlogger said that the Ares Design S1 is her dream car because it combines the look and performance of a hypercar with the practicality of driving. Even according to her, the S1 belong to her will be shipped early next year and to be the first unit sent by Ares Design to the customers.

And she also promised to upload a video of the results of her visit to Modena for see the making process of her S1 hypercar, including also asking for advice from netizens about suitable colors for the exterior and interior of her new car. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | ARES DESIGN | AUTOCAR | AUTOEVOLUTION | TOPSPEED | HOTCARS ]

This was an American muscle car you've heard less

Rare ONES Hearing the word American car, our imagination will immediately drift to the 'mischief' of a muscle car which has indeed become the hallmark of American cars. And a muscle car is an American-style sports car that has a distinctive power and design. Maybe we are familiar with the rows of American muscle cars produced by Ford, GM and Chrysler, so maybe we rarely know that there's the American Motors (AMC) had also produced the similar muscle cars named the AMC AMX.
The AMC AMX was the true sports car and the real high-performance edition, although it has not fared very well in the market. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
The AMX's starting point came when American Motors hired Dick Teague as assistant design director in 1959. Three years later he became vice president of Automotive Styling and since then a new era has begun at the company. At the time Teague's job is to transform American Motors from being a small economy car builder to more broad-scale one, so that it could compete with the Detroit's Big Three (Ford, GM, and Chrysler).

By the way the decision taken by AMC, it turns out that many parties, especially historians, regretted that could be happened by saying that the company should keep building only small cars, or at least small and medium-sized cars, and avoid direct collisions by making larger models, because Ford, GM and Chrysler are considered to be more experienced and owned that market segment, so it's become very difficult for the AMC to rival them in that time.
1966 AMC AMX Prototype is a full-sized model of a two-seat sports car concept that features AMC's "Ramble Seat" for two additional passengers at rear is designed by American Motors Corporation (AMC) and known as the first "AMX" (American Motors Experimental) named car. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
But what can I say, AMC has already decided to participate in enlivening this market segment thus by full of confidently the company launched and produced the AMC AMX ranging from 1968 to 1970. The car is a two-seater GT muscle car model and also known as one of the two American two-seater sports cars, and making it in a direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette, which has a wheelbase of one inch (2.5 cm) longer, but for substantially less price.
The AMC AMX is fitted with the optional high-compression medium block 390 cu in (6.4 L) AMC V8 engine. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
The AMX name originates from the "American Motors experimental" code used on a concept vehicle and then on two prototypes shown on the company's "Project IV" automobile show tour in 1966. One was a fiberglass two-seat "AMX", and the other was a four-seat "AMX II". Both of these radically styled offerings reflected the company's strategy to shed its "economy car" image and appeal to a more youthful, performance-oriented market.

The AMC's muscle car is fitted with the optional high-compression medium block 390 cu in (6.4 L) AMC V8 engine, it could be said that the AMX offered top-notch performance at an affordable price. Then what about the performance? As Eric Dahlquist wrote up the 1970 AMX in the December 1969 edition of Motor Trend and summed it up as 'one of the better constructed cars around.'
The AMC AMX also known as one of the two American two-seater sports cars, and making it in a direct competition with the Chevrolet Corvette. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
The test car had the optional 390-cid V-8 that produced 325 hp at 5,000 rpm and 420 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. It drove through the Borg-Warner four-speed gearbox to a 3.54:1 rear axle. Zero-to-60 mph took 6.56 seconds and Dahlquist did the standing-start quarter-mile in 14.68 seconds at 92 mph. Top speed in fourth gear was recorded as 109 mph.
The AMC AMX had a production run of 4,116 units, which made it the rarest of the three two-seat editions during 1968 to 1970. (Picture from: OldCarsWeekly)
In spite of this value and enthusiastic initial reception by automotive media and enthusiasts, sales never thrived. However, the automaker's larger objectives to refocus AMC's image on performance and to bring younger customers into its dealer showrooms were achieved.
After three years in the production line with 4,116 units ever produced, the two-seat version was discontinued in 1970, and the AMX's signature badging was transferred to a high-performance version of its four-seat sibling named the Javelin is produced ranging from the 1971 to 1974. Although the AMX nameplate was to be used again on Javelin- and Hornet-based models, the two-seater AMX was the true sports car and the real high-performance edition, although it has not fared very well in the market. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | HEACOCKCLASSIC | OLDCARSWEEKLY | WIKIPEDIA ]

Here're the Maranello's long snouted species of the 1990s to early 2000s

Unique ONES Everyone knows that Ferrari, the Italian premium car brand has always produced high-performance and classy automotive products since it was first founded in 1947 by Enzo Ferrari. Sometimes in the process of developing a car model, the Maranello-based automotive manufacturer involves famous figures in the racing world.

This was noted to have been done by Ferrari in the 1990s, when Luca di Montezemollo as CEO of Ferrari wanted to revive the long-nosed model with the V12 engine that had been produced and was successful in the past. For this reason, the Italian premium car manufacturer took a German famous  Formula-1 racer, Michael Schumacher in the development of the mentioned  high-performance road car.

To realize the mentioned sports car into reality, then Ferrari submitted the project to Pininfarina, one of the Italian leading coachbuilders. So then in 1996, here was born a sports car named the Ferrari 550 Maranello Grand Tourer with a design that was said to be very thick, inspired by the legendary figure of the Ferrari 275 GTB.

The model's name referred to the 5.5-litres total engine displacement in decalitres and dedicated to the town of Maranello, home to the Ferrari headquarters and factory. The power of the sports car comes from a front mounted 5,474cc V12 engine coupled with 6-speeds manual transmission system, which said to be burst of power of 384 hp and able to make the car accelerates from rest to 100 kph in just 4 seconds.
Ferrari 550 Barchetta is made to be the spyder version in the 2000. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
Not only the coupe-style sports cars ever built during 1996 to 2001, it turns out that Pininfarina also made the spyder version in 2000 and called the Ferrari 550 Barchetta. During its production period there're 3,083 units of the Ferrari 550 Maranello had been built and the 550 Barchetta of 448 units. And among the many Ferrari 550 Maranello produced, there are some special units that were once owned by famous people.
Ferrari 575M Maranello is made as an all-around improved car version (modificata in Ferrari parlance) of the 550, rather than an all-new construction one. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
Like the black colored Ferrari 550 Maranello of 2000 was once owned by the late Eddie Van Halen, a rock star since 2008. Due to the rock star has a hobby of racing and of course his 550 car has several changes to the wheels, racing seats and has been equipped with a roll cage. to be adapted to his hobby. And when it was going to be auctioned at the end of 2020, the car had traveled as far as approximately 28,000 km such recorded on its odometer.
Ferrari 575M Superamerica was the 575M Maranello coupé variants featured with a retractable hardtop. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
Although the Ferrari 550 Maranello has successfully entered the production line of the prancing horse logoed car manufacturer, there are a number of Ferrari inner circles who still feel that the design of this car has not met expectations and needs a design refresh. So in 2002, Pininfarina revised the design to its performance. Then the Ferrari 575M Maranello was born

Although the Ferrari 550 Maranello has successfully entered the production line of the prancing horse logoed car manufacturer, there are a number of Ferrari's inner circles who still feel that the car's design has not met expectations and needs a refreshment. So in 2002, Pininfarina revised the design to its performance, and the Ferrari 575M Maranello was born, in which the 575 model number refers to total engine displacement in centiliters, whilst the 'M' is an abbreviation of modificata ("modified").
Indeed the car was an all-around improved car version (modificata in Ferrari parlance), rather than an all-new construction and powered by a larger 5.75-litre version of the F133 engine. Aside from the redesigned interior, using a larger and more powerful engine, it turns out that updates from the 550 that were later installed on the 575M included substantial mechanical improvements, such larger brake discs, improved weight distribution, refined aerodynamics and fluid-dynamics along with an adaptive suspension set-up (the four independent suspensions are also controlled by the gearbox, to minimize pitch throughout the 200-milliseconds shift time).
For 2005, the company released a GTC handling package and a Superamerica version (the coupé variants with a retractable hardtop), along with raising the power from 508 hp to 533 hp. The Ferrari 575M Maranello was produced in between 2002 to 2006 with a total of 2,056 units, including 246 units with manual transmission. Meanwhile, the Superamerica model was produced by Ferrari as many as 559 units

Who was the lucky famous rich person ever had the Ferrari 575M Maranello? Eminem, the world famous rapper is listed as one of the lucky persons who owns the Ferrari 575M Maranello to become one of the exotic car collections in his manor. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | FERRARI | WIKIPEDIA | FORZA-MAG | SENTIMENTALSHOP ]

The 550 Spyder potential contender of Alfa Romeo who failed to show on the racecourse

Unique ONES Shortly after the end of World War II, the automotive world was slowly getting back on its feet in which marked by many racing events flourished which were enthusiastically welcomed and attended by participants from both the automotive industry circles and privateers. At that time, the Grand Prix racing event was also rolling again and attracted the Alfa Romeo, one of the oldest Italian manufacturers to take part in it once again by bringing a new line of cars which then succeeded in the market and became a key player in the great post-war economic miracle in Italy.
1955 Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione speedster designed and built by Felice Boano in collaboration with Carlo Abarth based on the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. (Picture from: CarPixel)
For the Alfa Romeo, the early 1950s belonged to the Giulietta which was the first large car line models to be fully built by the company during the period from 1954 to 1965. Then there were several units of which were specially modified by the third parties, and it started by Bertone, the famous Italian coachbuilder is succeeded in building the Sprint 2 + 2 coupe and then shown it for the first time at the Turin Auto Show 1954. One year later the Berlina sedan and the Spider roadster are modified by another Italian coachbuilder, Pininfarina and joined with the Sprint to complete the Guilietta car line up that were visually appealing and fun to drive.
1955 Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione  failed to show on the racecourse due to unknown reasons after only two units ever made. (Picture from: UltimateCarPage)
Almost in the same time, the sports car racing was booming once again in Europe and the US, and the 1,500cc modification became the most popular and hotly contested racing class (of which the Porsche 550 Spyder eventually dominate back then). The Italian manufacturer also made the Alfa Romeo racing cars based on the Giulietta that would be run in the competition.
1955 Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione powered has 1955 Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione has a striking 'Spider' body that was distinctly different from all Alfa Romeos that came before or since. (Picture from: FavCars)
At the end of 1955, Alfa Romeo motor sports engineers managed to find its finest race car candidate, named Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione, in which the "Competizione" means the car specifically made for racing purpose only and "750" was the body code for the Giulietta on which it was based. The sports car is designed and made by Felice Boano, who has developed the lightweight aluminum-made "speedster" body in collaboration with Carlo Abarth to match it on a boxed steel chassis.

The running gear, comprising an independent front suspension with twin wishbones and coil springs and dampers, and a rigid-axle rear suspension, and could be said it was a piece of artwork. As for the drivetrain, the speedster is powered by a four-cylinder, dual-overhead cam 1.3-liter Alfa Romeo's engine based on the one used by the Giulietta Spyder and capable of spewing the power of 145 hp at 8,000 rpm, or nearly 100 hp per liter, which was a big number in the era.
1955 Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione could be said one of the serious contenders for the 550 Spyder in the 1,500cc modification racing class of the 1950s. (Picture from: FCAHeritage)
The machine coupled with the embedding of a close-ratio five-speed transmission and gear-driven, racing-spec cams made the 750 Competizione an amazingly responsive car to wheel around a racecourse with an overall weighs of 1,528 lbs. Even though those weight figures is slightly heavier than its rival the Porsche 550 Spyder, this is not an obstacle to its running speed, as under the hood it is then fitted with a blaster device that is said to be able to balance the extra heft with brute force and long heavy breathing.
So far, it is known that only two of the 750 Competizione speedsters have been ever made by Alfa Romeo of the initial plan was to build 50 cars. Some parties said, that the technical problems during testing had been the cause of the project's cancellation, yet others said the Alfa's business-focused management who had messed up the initial plan.

Either way, we will never know why the Alfa Romeo 750 Competizione has never appeared on the racecourse, even though at the time the most automotive observers and enthutiasts generally predicted it could be one of the serious contenders for the 550 Spyder in the 1,500cc modification racing class of the 1950s. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | THE DRIVE | FCA HERITAGE | WIKIPEDIA | ULTIMATECARPAGE ]
