This is the largest creature on Earth that is still alive today

In the wild, the largest creatures on the Earth, turn out are gentle creatures, and not dangerous. Yes, the blue whales or Balaenoptera musculus, the sea creatures are believed to be the biggest living beings who ever lived on the planet, even bigger than the biggest dinosaurs.

The largest blue whale ever recorded weighed 181 tons and a length of 33 meters. If placed on the ground, the blue whale is equal to a length of 9 family cars! And the heart size of the sea mamals is similar to the size of a car, with the blood vessels was big too, so that we could swim in it.

Imagine if we sail in the ocean for the first time, exploring the places that we have never seen, and suddenly at beside the ship, we saw blue whales come to the surface, and its size turned out to be more length than the ship that we were riding.

Maybe we will be afraid, especially perhaps because we have never seen a living creature with a size so large, we also do not know, what this giant sea creatures could do, whether it can flip over the ship and feed on humans. In fact, we need not fear with this giant sea creature.
The size comparison of some whale species. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1ZwXzs)
The staple food of blue whales is krill, though they also eat copepods in small quantities. Zooplankton species is eaten by various blue whales from one ocean to another. In the North Atlantic, Meganyctiphanes norvegica, Thysanoessa raschii, Thysanoessa inermis and Thysanoessa longicaudata were their common foods. While in the South Pacific, Euphausia pacifica, Thysanoessa inermis, Thysanoessa longipes, Thysanoessa spinifera, Nyctiphanes simplex dan Nematoscelis megalops. And in the Antarctic, they ate  Euphausia superba, Euphausia crystallorophias dan Euphausia vallentini.

An adult blue whale can eat up as much as 40 million krill per day. They always ate in areas with high concentrations of krill, so sometimes it takes approximately 3,600 kilograms (7,900 lbs) of krill in a single day. Blue whales filling their bellies in waters rich in krill in the Antarctic before migrating to breeding grounds in warmer waters and less rich in krill near the equator.

Perhaps one of the most spectacular of the blue whales are the sounds they make. Researchers have measured the low-frequency sounds produced by blue whales to communicate with each other using the decible-meter devices.

Some of their vocalizations have been recorded as loud as 188 decibels and can be heard as far as 848 km! Wow, just for comparison, the sound of jet aircraft that was taking off is 120 decibels. Thus, we can conclude that the blue whale is a living creature that is able to produce the loudest sound in the world.

Why the Blue Whale can be sized so big? So far, researchers still are not sure why, but they believe with certainty that any of the dinosaurs in the past, they never reached the size of a blue whale. This is the greatest living creature that has ever lived on the Earth, and is still alive today.

One important reason why whales can reach large sizes is that they have a large living space, a large area to move around and explore. Because more than 70% of the Earth is water.

Now, we get to know that the blue whales are completely harmless to humans, and in fact, they have something in common with the human, that they are the warm-blooded mammals who must breathe with the air.
They are also social animals with complex language and intelligence. And most importantly, the blue whales are not a monster at all, they are a gentle giant that we must respect, admire, and protect. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC INDONESIA]

Cosmic particles reveal the secrets of Egyptian pyramids

The internal structure of the ancient Egyptian pyramids revealed for the first time by a team of international researchers by using the cosmic particles. The innovative technology was applied to the 4,500 years-old Bent Pyramid that built under the Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sneferu.

Previously, there is speculation that the remains of Pharaoh Sneferu located inside the pyramid in an undiscovered burial chamber. However, the innovative technologies, ScanPyramids, has denied this hypothesis. From the scan results, not detected no additional chamber of the same size with the upper chamber.

According to the researchers, who presented the results at Cairo to the Minister of Antiquities, Khaled El-Enany, and former minister Mamdouh El-Damaty, showed very good results because it shows the inside of monuments such as the use of X-rays.

The Bent Pyramid is the first pyramid was investigated by using the ScanPyramids. The technology created a team from Cairo University and a Paris-based non-profit organization, named Heritage, Innovation and Preservation (HIP Institute).

As quoted by Discovery News on Thursday, April 28, 2016, the technology combines a wide range of innovative things, such as infrared, muon radiography and 3D reconstruction. The innovative technology was highly dependent on the muon, the cosmic particles that permanently and naturally bombard the Earth, which can penetrate the material is very deep.

Muons coming from the upper layers of Earth's atmosphere, where they were created from collisions between cosmic rays and atomic nuclei in the atmosphere.

"This is a scientific breakthrough because it uses the principle applied muography Egyptian pyramids. It paved the way for a new investigation," said deputy director of ScanPyramids, Mehid Tayoubi.

These results appeared four months after a team led by Kunihiro Morishima of the Institute for Advanced Research of Nagoya University, Japan, installing 40 units slab of muon detectors in the basement of the Bent Pyramid.

"From this slab, more than 10 million muon traces were analyzed. We calculate the muon and according to their angular distribution, so we were able to reconstruct the images," said Tayoubi.

"For the first time, the structure of the pyramid has been revealed by the muon particles. The figure shows that the second chamber in the pyramid is located approximately above the lower floor where the emulsion plates installed," he added. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DISCOVERY NEWS]

EV-R become one of Italy's fastest hypercars

Italian supercar marque Mazzanti, in the news just a few days ago with its first model, the Evantra, is now tantalizing us with a new car code-named EV-R. With just a few weeks away from the reveal of the EV-R, Mazzanti has dropped a new video, revealing some of its performance specs.
Mazzanti will unveil the most extreme Evantra, the EV-R. And it promises to beat the LaFerrari! (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1a20vk)
The Italian model is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 402 km/h (250 mph),  making it faster than the LaFerrari, which needs less than 3 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) and has a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

"When you think of a new project, the best way to make it concrete, is with setting objectives. The objectives must be then translated into numbers in order to become real; the speed of 250 mph have a different meaning for a street legal hypercar", said the company's founder, Luca Mazzanti.

Responsible for the Mazzanti EV-R's performance is a new 7.2-liter Vi bi-turbo engine, the output of which remains unknown at this time, but we're probably looking at an upgraded version of the same powertrain used on the Evantra, which has a displacement of 7.0 liters and produces 751 HP and 860 Nm (634 pound-feet) of torque. Stopping power comes from carbon ceramic brakes, made by Brembo, covered by OZ Racing wheels that are wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo R rubber.
Mazzanti will celebrate the EV-R's world debut at the 2016 Turin Motor Show, on June 8, 2016. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARSCOOPS | MOTOR AUTHORITY | MOTORCHASE]
