A unique roadster of Ukraine

Creative ideas always come flowing freely. Because freedom is what causes many automotive modifiers explore the idea of building a vehicle. They are free to use parts that are taken from various brands (not fixated on one particular brand). Then combine them in a single work in accordance with the initial idea modification.

This is very clearly shown by Aleksandr Gorun, a Ukrainian artist and automotive modifier in building a roadster modification named 'Shark.' In his studio in Sevastopol, he and his colleagues has managed to build a car by using many parts that taken from different cars. For example, this roadster uses the chassis and engine of the Mercedes-benz, and a removable roof taken from Fiat Barchetta.

As mentioned above, this unique roadster uses a Mercedes-Benz's engine that has a capacity of 3,200 cc and combined with automatic transmission system that taken from the same brand. Most of the parts were custom made by their own hands, some bought through the Internet.

On the exterior, the car has a unique shape and reminiscent of typical forms of the hotrods and cars of 1940s - 1950s, especially on the front. Then the classic custom grill attached in very low position. At the front, this roadster uses a pair of Zora 965C rims measuring 18" and covered by BF Goodrich g-Force 225/35ZR18 tires while the rear 22" rims and covered with 285/35ZR22 tires.

While the interior of the two passenger cars using the dominant color black on all of its interior elements such as the dasboard which contains a number of instrument panels. And a pair of seats swathed in black genuine-leather. Overall roadster was very beautiful in a contrast color blend, black-and-white.
But unfortunately there is no more detailed technical specifications of this unique roadster, such as how much power and torque produced by its engine, its top speed, and others. For the time being the roadster is not sold and only used as a display item for 2 to 3 years. After that, we'll see.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | ROTORROAD | HYBRIDTECH | DRIVE.NET]

The most bizarre dinosaur with batlike wings

A farmer in Mutoudeng, Hebei Province in China find the odd piece of stone, which turned out to contain fossils of the unusual ancient animals: a small dinosaur that had batlike wings.

Ancient animal was estimated to ever gliding between trees forests of northeastern China in the Jurassic period - middle period of the Mesozoic era, also known as the 'Age of Dinosaurs'.

The paleontologist who analyzed the fossils reveals, unlike dinosaurs ever found, the creature allegedly was an early form of flying dinosaurs that 'failed'.

Its form was not as close relatives - bird or bird-like dinosaurs. Based on the specimens were found, is is known to have long bones like twigs on the wrist that is connected with a thin membrane can be stretched. Like a bat.

The creature was first known dinosaur has membrane wings. Thus said Xing Xu, a paleontologist from the Linyi University, China, and one of the authors in a study published in the Nature journal on April 29, 2015.

"This is the most surprising findings of our ever get. Though I have found a number of strange dinosaurs throughout my career," Xu said, as quoted from LiveScience on Friday, May 1, 2015.

However, since the composition of the dinosaur's body was strange, these findings it so controversial. It comes from the Middle-Upper Jurassic period, approximately 160 million years ago. The fossilized bones discovered by the farmers that have confirmed the authenticity of the evidence. Similarly, Chinese scientists claim.

Xu and his colleagues named the species as Yi qi (in English read: ee chee), which means 'strange wings' in Mandarin. Yi qi in the group of dinosaurs called theropods - which mostly are carnivorous. It is also able to enter into sub-groups of tiny feathered dinosaur called scansoriopterygids. Scientists estimate, Yi qi weighs less than 1 pound (380 grams).

The team led by Xu encounter long bones like twigs that extends from the creature's wrist, which is associated with soft membrane tissue - like bat wings or a flying squirrel. Previously, never found a dinosaur that had a similar wing. The creature also has a feather - but not being used to fly like a bird.

Yi qi is most likely not an accomplished aviator. He allegedly moved in the air with a combination of flapping and gliding movements. "You could say 'fly experiments that failed' among the bird predecessors," said Xu. "However, we do not know where the failure occurred."

During the early evolution of dinosaurs such as birds, several different body shapes appear, but only the feathered wings that last through time. Became the forerunner of modern birds. "Perhaps because it is more efficient than the bat-like wings," said Xu.

Some scientists praised the findings, more skeptical. "This is the finding that menganggumkan. According to me, it is one of the most unpredictable dinosaurs and the strangest has been found during the past few years," said Stephen Brusatte, a paleontologist from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. "The ability to fly might be evolved multiple times among the dinosaurs. However, only one group - birds - are able to survive until now."

However, the study triggered a debate in the scientific community. According to Luis Chiappe, a paleontologist and director of the Dinosaur Institute at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

Chiappe said, because a number of fossils found in China previously doubtful authenticity. "I do not say this fossil engineered," he said. "But because of his body shape is too weird, the creature is very controversial and hard to believe."
Chiappe also questioned scientists who classify Yi qi to the family of theropod family. Too narrow, he said. "A more holistic approach might reveal, it probably was a dinosaur animal of another kind. Or, perhaps altogether not a dinosaur," he said. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE]

The tiny robot swarm can lift and move the car

The tiny robot swarm, about the size of A4 paper sheet, now being programmed to be able to lift cars weighing up to two tons. They are working together, these tiny robots able to slip unnoticed and quietly removes the target's car from the scene.

These robots which are collectively referred as 'Avert' are the creation of a European consortium led by the Democritus University of Thrace in Greece. The Autonomous Multi-Robot System for Vehicle Extraction and Transportation (Avert), as reported by the Daily Mail on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, operated by selecting the vehicle to be moved after the camera mapped the area in detail.

Avert system then works by sending a deployment unit to scan the area and identify new potential obstacles. Once this is done, these gangs spread from the unit and track vehicles as targets, where they approached the wheels and then lifted the car.
The team has been working on the technology since 2012 and says a production model could be ready in 2016. (Picture from: http://dailym.ai/1zfG5Si)
The robots are equipped with on-board sensors, including two lasers and digital cameras. Sensor helps the Avert to lifting the vehicle without human intervention, and avoid the obstacles. This system could be used to rescue from the bad parking situations, though, it was specifically developed for use by law enforcement.

According to its website, Avert can help the police extract suspicious vehicles from within buildings and other tight places, or transport cars they suspect are rigged with explosives to a safer location.
The team has been developing the system since 2012 and believes production can start as soon as 2016. For now, its members are busy showcasing the system in various conferences, including the upcoming International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA2015) on May 26 to 30 in Seattle. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL | ENGADGET]

American smart bullet technology

United States are being develop the bullet technology that could automatically chasing a moving target. First introduced in July 2014, through a program known as the EXtreme ACcuracy Tasked Ordnance (EXACTO) has now been showcased its capability to the public.
The bullets have a real-time guidance system to track target, and can change their course if needed. The video shows Exacto rounds manoeuvring in flight to hit targets that are moving and accelerating. (Picture from: http://dailym.ai/1DLIGA7)
In a video uploaded by the US defense research agency (DARPA) to YouTube on April 27, 2015, that showing off the ability of 50-caliber bullet fired by a sniper, and can automatically change direction to follow a moving target. This technology is similar to the missiles ability that were fired from fighter jets, submarines, frigates or another warships.
This graphic reveals how Exacto bullet-style tech can track target and change direction. The sniper additionally has to take into account wind, distance and the curvature of the Earth, before pulling the trigger. (Picture from: http://dailym.ai/1DLIGA7)

In order to change direction, the bullet was directed by an optical guidance system that works in real time. With those technology, the bullet could penetrate a target even bothered by the wind or other natural factors.

In the video shown, a professional shooter been able to shoot a moving target perfectly. Seen bullets change direction automatically follow the movement of the target and hit the moving target precisely. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL]
