A custom-built car inspired by the vintage futuristic car of the '50 and '60s

Jet&Rocket Inspired If we look at this one car, we could be seen the thick unique impression since beginning. How not, this car very clearly looks like a glinting alien craft floating above the ground featured with the sharp nose, the sweptback lines and clear double-bubble canopies. No wonder there are still people who ask, was it a spaceship, a plane, a jet-powered car?
This is the Thunderflite custom car built by Dean 'Dino' Arnold based of 1961 Ford Thunderbird. (Picture from: Barrett-Jackson)
Uniquely the custom car named the Thunderflite was not made by the car manufacturer, otherwise the brainchild of noted custom builder Dean 'Dino' Arnold, who has done more than a thousand modifications to the Ford Thunderbird of 1961 up to produce one of the most successful custom cars ever and shown up for the first time at the SEMA event back in 2008.

Don't be fooled! To most of the people seeing it for the first time, they probably thought it was a real vintage dream car rather than a modern custom. Besides due to it looks like has just been dusted off and shined up after being left for more than 40 years, also thanks to every detail pinned seem coming from the correct periods.
The Thunderflite custom car has debuted at the 2008 SEMA Show and crowned as 2008 Best of SEMA show by Popular Mechanics Magazine, voted in Top 12 Coolest Cars at SEMA 2008. (Picture from: PopularMechanics)
This unique concept car could be instantly recognizable thanks to its double-bubble canopy, 'chrome effects' paint and sweeping tailfins, it's clearly could be seen that the Thunderflite draws its inspiration from the American automaker futuristic prototypes of the '50s and '60s.
The Thunderflite custom car has a very contrasting color combination of chrome color and accents with red-leather are covered the seats, dashboards and others. (Picture from: Design-Dautore)
As quoted of the Street Machine, the automaker said that he tried to capture what it was like in the '50s and '60s when the American automaker such GM and others built their dream cars and with the help of his late wife Suzie, then he sketched it on a napkin, while to finalize the design, then he collaborated with Don Johnson.

Well, as the future car design in general made in the 1950s and 1960s were strongly inspired by the rampant of jet technology and space travel. So naturally, the car's design followed concepts such as the Pontiac Club de Mer, Oldsmobile Golden Rocket and Buick Centurion of 1956.

It turns out that it doesn't just stop there, in the early year of (2022) the Japanese company continued its experiments and again presented the figure of the latest electric-powered vehicle named the Sony Vision-S 02 which carried the style of 7-seats SUV. Like the predecessor, the newest Sony SUV prototype was also debuted at same event on this year which started on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.

As quoted of Paultan, the electric car is called the Sony Vision-S 02 due to it has a similar design to its predecessor, the Sony Vision-S and the only difference is its size, which is now much larger to accommodate a larger capacity (ie 7-seats).

Furthermore, the big difference does not only occur on the exterior, the Sony's SUV prototype is now equipped with a more sophisticated dashboard design that has three touch screens in the middle and two additional screens that function as rearview mirrors to display road conditions on the right or left, and also the rear of the car.
Inside the Sony Vision-S 02 cabin is now equipped with a more sophisticated dashboard design that has three touch screens. (Picture from: PaulTan.org)
Then there is also a panoramic glass-roof that stretches from the front to the back of the car. As a result, the interior of this car looks more spacious because it seems as if it's naturely openned. Sony is also trying to bring advanced technology into the electric-powered car. For example, Sony providing an advanced audio system namely Sony 360 Reality Audio, so by the feature the passengers of the car can access music and movie streaming on the Bravia Core services.

Like its sedan predecessor, the Sony Vision-S 02's passengers can also play the PlayStation remotely. Even if the PlayStation console is left at home, car owners can play it from inside the car. The most recent feature is the installation of a special camera that detects faces in the car. The camera allows the driver and passenger to perform voice commands and special gestures to access various features in the car.
Then there is also a panoramic glass-roof that stretches from the front to the back and made the car's cabin looks more spacious because it seems as if it's naturely openned. (Picture from: PaulTan.org)
Thanks to the camera, the car can also activate the memory of driving settings that are usually done by the driver. Starting from the height of the steering wheel, your favorite driving mode to the most frequently selected entertainment options. Sony also claims this car can run autonomously, the car's autonomous capability is claimed to reach Level 2. This is obtained thanks to the installation of 40 sensor points throughout the car body. Including the camera and LIDAR on the front of the car.

Although Sony could be said success in making these 2 electric-powered vehicle prototypes (a sedan and suv), but still makes many people wonder why those cars were just displayed? Meanwhile at the CES 2022, Sony only gave a quite simple answer.
This time the Japanese electronic giant answered the company would create a special division namely Sony Mobility Inc., in preparation for entering the electric-powered car business which has been growing in recent times. So might be in the future those two or another Sony-made cars can be bought and owned by the public. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | PAULTAN | LATESTCARNEWS ]

A tale of a supercar named Orca of Liechtenstein

Killer Orca Have you ever heard of a supercar that carries the unique name of Orca? The car name unique isn't? Although it actually has nothing to do in terms of shape or anything with the toothed whale from the dolphin family that lives in the ocean or known as  the Killer Whale with the Latin name of Orcinus Orca.
The Orca C113 is the first variant of the Orca 113 platform and made by the Liechtenstein-based automaker called Orca Engineering. (Picture from: ClassicDriver)
Its intentions are clearly apparent wanna be a merciless monster in term of performance. Those unique-named supercar produced by the Liechtenstein-based automaker called Orca Engineering. The company founded in the 2003 by René Beck and his son Ralph in Zurich of Switzerland, then the company moved to Ebenholz, Liechtenstein.

It seems the company wanna shared the aspirations or even taken inspirations of those gigantic ocean creatures namesake, ie uncompromising performance in its own environment when it building the first supercar platform which has the full name of the Orca 113 that's consisted of three variants. As the first variant, the Orca C113 also features with Lamborghini-like scissor doors was launched for the first time at one of the world's leading automotive exhibitions, Geneva Motor Show 2003.

As qouted of Classicdriver, the car's nomenclature is derived from "C" for coupé, "1" designating that it’s the first model, and "13" for good luck, it being Beck’s personal lucky number. The next variant is the Orca R113 or a roadster-styled car, the last one being the highest variant is the Orca SC7, as we could be guessed from the car's nomenclature is derived from "SC" for supercar, and "7" designating of it made only 7 units.
The Orca C113 is powered by a MTM-optimised twin turbo 4.2 V8 Audi engine capable spew out power of 650 horsepower, and 664 lb-ft of torque. (Picture from: SeriousWheels)
The Orca's supercar platform is constructed from lightweight materials including aluminium, magnesium and titanium, and has carbon-kevlar body panels with total weight is around 850 kg. And for its suspention is handled by double wishbones at front and the rear with coil springs and alloy uprights.

As for the drivetrain, the Orca C113 is powered by a MTM-optimised twin turbo 4.2 V8 Audi engine capable spew out power of 650 horsepower, and 664 lb-ft of torque, and claimed to be made the car run to top speed of 224 mph (360.5 kph).
Initially, the company intends to produce around 10-15 hand-build cars a year with a total production of 198 units in all three variants. Unfortunately, the car project shut down in 2007, due to lack of investors and buyer, with only 7 units were ever produced, 3 units of the C113, 2 R113s, and 2 SC7s.

After all the projects on the Orca 113 car platform stopped, it turned out that the company owner still had not given up on continuing to build supercars, it then continued by launching another model named Beck LM 800 in 2007. The car is designed to be extremely light with a weight of 1,984 lbs and incredibly aerodynamic.

The one and only Audi Rosemeyer Concept

The One When you talk about the cars that use W16 construction engines, maybe you will think of the name Bugatti Veyron or Chiron. But before the Bugatti duo came to the fore, it turned out that there was one car that previously used a W16 engine as well and is known as one of the first supercars made by Audi.
The Audi Rosemeyer concept car was created to pay tribute to the Auto Union Silver Arrows (German: Silberpfeil), driven by the legendary German racer, Bernd Rosemeyer. (Picture from: Audi)
So, let's not be curious, let's get acquainted with the Audi-made concept car named the Audi Rosemeyer. As quoted of Motor1, the Audi Rosemeyer concept was first exhibited to the public at the Autostadt Building, Wolfsburg, Germany on June 1, 2000 ago.

"The Audi Rosemeyer introduced at Autostadt, Wolfsburg is not a ready-to-drive prototype. Also this concept car was not made to enter the production line," explained Audi at the time.

The Audi Rosemeyer concept car was created as a tribute to the Auto Union (the forerunner of Audi) race car called the Auto Union Silver Arrows (German: Silberpfeil), driven by the legendary German racer, Bernd Rosemeyer. This can be seen from the Audi Rosemeyer's grille which is intentionally made to resemble that one attached on the Silver Arrows.
2000 Audi Rosemeyer is powered by a large displacement, mid-mounted W16 engine, which develops 700 hp and featuring Audi's quattro permanent four-wheel drive system. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
Likewise, the car naming is taken from the last name of those German legendary racer, Bernd Rosemeyer as a form of respect. Furthermore if you look in more detail, you might think that the Rosemeyer concept at first glance looks a bit like the Bugatti Veyron. The reason is, the Audi Rosemeyer concept car looks to have a grille design that is somewhat similar to the typical Bugatti grille.
The Audi Rosemeyer Concept doesn't have any other color on the body, and only presented in typical aluminum color. (Picture from: Wikipedia)
Then the design line of the Audi's concept car also when aligned with the Veyron also at first glance looks similar. Perhaps what makes the Rosemeyer different from the Bugatti Veyron is seen in its rims and five rounded headlights.
The interior of the Audi Rosemeyer features retro and modern design in total harmony made of materials such as carbon fiber and aluminum as one of the hallmarks of the racing car style of the 30s. (Picture from: Supercars)
As quoted of Motor1, if you look closely, the front view of the Audi Rosemeyer concept car looks like a face with an anxious and sad expression, even though it actually has great power. This concept car is powered by an 8 liter naturally aspirated W16 engine that produces power of 710 horsepower and a maximum torque of 760 Nm.
There is something strange about the Audi Rosemeyer, it has no rear view mirrors instead two cameras located on the roof which are able to see around through the monitor screen inside the cabin. (Picture from: Carthrottle)
For your info, this is the same engine unit that is now used in the Bugatti Chiron after having many modifications. You can imagine the performance of this machine, the beasty power came out from the engine is then channeled to all-wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Design similarities between the Audi Rosemeyer concept (above) and the Bugatti Veyron (below). (Picture from: GridOto)
For those of you who are curious about the Audi Rosemeyer overall appearance, you can immediately watch the following video:
If asked about its performance, the Audi Rosemeyer concept is claimed to be able to be driven up to a maximum speed of 350 kph. Unfortunately, this Audi-made concept car wasn't be mass-produced due to the Audi Rosemeyer concept car was not created for the sake of a super car. The Audi Rosemeyer was built to commemorate the legendary Silver Arrows. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUDI | IDMOTOR1 ]

Bugatti EB112 super sedan of 1990s

Super Sedan - We're back to talking about cars made by Bugatti of the 1990s. As it has long been known that the French automotive manufacturer always produces such powerfull cars. Well, we're back to the 1990s, when the brand was just acquired by Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli. It turned out that apart from producing the Bugatti EB110, Bugatti also had developed and built several units of the four-door fancy coupe called the Bugatti EB112 back in 1991.
Bugatti EB112 (S/N 39001) is debuted at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show, and many said that they had just seen the most beautiful car in the world. (Picture from: Supercars.net)
Like the previous EB110 model, to design this EB112 four-door coupe, Bugatti comissioned Giorgetto Giugiaro, an Italian renowned automotive designer as well as the founder and owner of the coachbuilder ItalDesign. Do not think the EB112' designing process was easy, although Giorgetto Giugiaro has designed many great cars before such as the Ferrari 250 GT, Lotus Esprit, DMC DeLorean, and many others. At that time, he should be made many improvements and revisions of the design sketches to accommodate the desires of the Bugatti Automobili's boss then, Romano Artioli whose felt that there was always something lacking from his supercar designs, before it got its current form.
Bugatti EB112 (S/N 39002) has an elegant design with a rounded shape to produce an iconic and polarizing silhouette with inspiration dawn from those French brand's legendary cars of the 1920s - 1930s. (Picture from: SupercarBlog)
As we can see today, the Bugatti EB112's design clearly looks elegant with a rounded shape to produce an iconic and polarizing silhouette. These design elements are a purposeful tribute to the past story of the Ettore Bugatti-founded automaker, with inspiration drawn from those French brand's legendary cars of the 1920s - 1930s such the Bugatti Type 41 Royale, Type 55 Berlinetta, and Type 57 SC Atlantic.
Bugatti EB112 (S/N 39003) has a coupe-profile in saloon layout was one of the earliest conceptions of the sports sedans or fastbacks that we see today. (Picture from: Patrzsercemkochanie)
The influence is not lost on anyone who should draw those comparisons, with the EB 112’s roof transitioning into rear bumper, emphasising a fastback configuration much like its predecessors. This overall coupe-profile in saloon layout was one of the earliest conceptions of the sports sedans or fastbacks that we see today. There is something slightly different about the appearance of the Bugatti EB112 when compared to Bugatti's other models. Although it still carries the typical Bugatti's horse-shoe shaped grille, but the one attached on the EB112 defines in a different echelon. If the Bugatti's four-door coupe hit the production line, then the EB112 would be one of its kind.
Bugatti EB112 (S/N 39002) has a bodywork is made of aluminum and is built on a carbon fiber chassis. (Picture from: SupercarBlog)
The Bugatti EB112 bodywork is made of aluminum and is built on a carbon fiber chassis. The use of these two lightweight components is considered a very sophisticated innovation carried out by the automaker at that time. Although attached with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) features, having five doors, and carrying a large V12 engine, it turns out that the EB112 has a fairly light curb weight, which is only 3,968 lbs, compared to the Veyron and Chirons which weigh around 4,400 lbs. Meanwhile, the position of the engine is behind the front wheels thereby improving weight distribution and vehicle control.
Bugatti EB1122's interior brings all the luxuries of a high-end premium under its leather and briarwood trim and exquisitely-molded shapes that convey a feeling of welcoming warmth and comfort. (Picture from: MotorAuthority)
The EB112's interior brings all the luxuries of a high-end premium under its leather and briarwood trim and exquisitely-molded shapes that convey a feeling of welcoming warmth and comfort: the four sculpted "bucket" type enveloping seats are lined with genuine leather,  besides sporting feature also reflected in the dashboard with its round dials and the central console with its array of control lever.
As the EB112's mechanical heart, Bugatti pinned it with a naturally aspirated 6-liter V12 engine designed by Volkswagen, where in the engine has five valves per cylinder and mounted behind the front axle. It is capable of spraying power up to 450 horsepower then channeled to all the wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission system so as to make the four-door coupe accelerate from rest to 100 kph in 4, 3 seconds with a top speed of 300 kph. The Bugatti EB112 was first introduced to the public at the 1993 Geneva Motor Show, at that time many said that they had just seen the most beautiful car in the world.
Bugatti only made 3 units of EB112, of which the first unit in red (S/N 39001) that shown in Geneva was the only one complete built by the company before having financial problem and led into bankruptcy again in 1995. (Picture from: CarStyling.ru)
As reported by Hotcars, Bugatti only made 3 units of EB112, of which the first unit in red (S/N 39001) that shown in Geneva was the only one complete built by the company before having financial problem and led into bankruptcy again in 1995 (probably owned by its designer Giorgetto Giugiaro). At that time, many of the Bugatti's assets were sold to Gildo Pallanca Pastor, including the two unfinished Bugatti EB112s. And according to Motortrend, the two Gildo Pastor-owned EB112 were completed in 1998 by his company, Monaco Racing Team, one finished in black (S/N 39002) sold to Swiss Bugatti importer Chevalley in February 2000. While another EB112s in a dark blue shade (S/N 39003), now is believed to be owned by a Russian car collector.
Bugatti EB112 (S/N 39003) is powered by a naturally aspirated 6-liter V12 engine designed by Volkswagen, where in the engine has five valves per cylinder and mounted behind the front axle. (Picture from: SecretClassics)
Although technically never produced, the Bugatti EB112 is listed as one of the four-door Bugatti models ever made, although it won't be the first time and probably won't be the last either. As we all know, since the Volkswagen Group acquired Bugatti in the 2000, the French automaker had ever launched a four-door luxury sedan called the Bugatti Galibier 16C in 2009 is powered by an 8-liter W16 coupled with twin superchargers capable of producing up to 1,000 horsepower.
As you can imagine, the Bugatti's four-door coupe model of 1990s will get an expensive price, especially considering there are only three of them ever made. However, the selling price may not be as much as the common classic cars. And in December 2021, one of the black EB112 cars and has a mileage of just 2,423 miles and can be purchased upon on Schaltkulisse.de. There is no mention of the pricing, but we expect it to be worth nearly $4 Million (approx Rp.56.86 billion)!😲 *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | HOTCARS.COM | MOTORAUTHORITY | MOTORTREND | CARSTYLING.RU | SCHALTKULISSE.DE ]

The most expensive coupe of the Bentley's history revealed soon

Most EXPensive Regarding luxury cars, Bentley is an expert. Well, it seems that the British car brand is not satisfied with some of the expensive car products it has produced and offered. Most recently through its bespoke coachbuilder division, Mulliner, the British marque is allegedly working on a second model after the Bentley Bacalar (an ultra-luxury roofless car of only 12 units made, and launched of 2020).
Rendered image the upcoming Bentley's two-door luxury car by Autocar. (Picture from: Autocar)
As quoted of Autocar, the upcoming two-door luxury car won't be as exclusive as the sibling. Due to the number of production would be increased up to 25 units, and another difference between the two Bentley's cars is the fixed-roof presence and styling cues stemming from the Bentley EXP 100 GT electric-powered car made of 2019.
Rendered image the upcoming Bentley's two-door luxury car by Autocar. (Picture from: Autocar)
The design of the as-yet-unnamed car is supposed to be a window into future Bentley models without combustion engines, adopting cues that will be taken by pure electric vehicles from Crewe-based automaker. According to the same report, the front fascia will look aggressive with a more angular theme and a refreshed typical grille, flanked by sleek LED headlights.
Rendered image of the first Bentley's electric-powered luxury car by Autocar. (Picture from: Autocar)
Then fat wheel arches are also included in the plans for the new coupe, as are sleek taillights and other details that will set the car apart from the "plain" Bentley Continental GT.

Meanwhile, the person in charge of the exterior appearance was Andreas Mindt, who had previously designed the Bentley Hunaudieres in 1999, although the 22-year-old concept car was never produced, it played an important role in the Bugatti Veyron's design process.
The Bentley EXP 100 GT concept car was unveiled at the company's headquarter in Crewe on July 10, 2019. (Picture from: RoadShow)
Next up is the drivetrain, which is said to come from a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 engine also installed in the Bentley Continental GT Speed, and is said to be capable of 650 horsepower (485 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque. With these settings, the high-performance coupe can sprint from still to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 208 mph (335 kph).
The Bentley Continental GT is reportedly based off a Rolls-Royce Phantom and is a one-off prototype. (Picture from: GTSpirit)
The same power and performance is also expected to happen in this new Mulliner Coupe. While it also built based on the Continental GT Speed with large 440mm carbon-ceramic front brakes, stiffer suspension and a modified chassis, and this luxury coupe could mark the beginning of the end for the W12 engine. Autocar got information from reliable sources that the twelve-cylinder unit would be phased out "shortly after the launch of the next Mulliner model (in 2023)."
Although the 1999 Bentley Hunaudières Concept car was never produced, it played an important role in the Bugatti Veyron's design process. (Picture from: Pedal2TheMetal)
How about the price? You might be a little surprised to hear that. The basic version, if we can call it that, will cost from £1.5 million (around Rp.28.4 billion at current exchange rates), and able to increase up to £2 million (approx Rp.37.9 billion). Well, with so many high-end upgrades done by the Mulliner, it would be made it the most expensive variant in the Bentley history. So better for us right now, just wait and see. Que sera sera. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUTOCAR | CARSCOOPS | CARBUZZ | ID.MOTOR1 ]
