Porsche Mission R electric vehicle technology ready to race without emissions

Electric BEAST - Pardon us, it seems we've missed this new Porsche's concept which is predicted to soon make its debut as a formidable electric-powered racer on the racing circuit fe years ago. Well, as compensation, we now return to 2021 for a moment when the Stuttgart-based automaker introduced the Porsche Mission R electric racer concept technology at the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich.

It said that the Mission R concept continues Porsche's electrification studies that started with the Mission E and Mission E Cross Turismo concepts, which are now the Porsche Taycan. So different from Mission E, Mission R provides a preview of a Porsche emission-free electric racing car for a one-make race.

"Porsche is a brand for people who fulfill their dreams, including in motorsport," said Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche.

"With our involvement in Formula E, we are taking the next big step in electric mobility with Mission R," Blume added, as quoted from Porsche's official release.

The Porsche Mission R is 4,326 mm long, slightly shorter than the 718 Cayman, but is 1,990 mm wide and 1,190 mm high. It has a body and aerodynamic features focused on downforce and cooling such as active ventilation, large air dam, large active wing and diffuser.

Speaking of aerodynamics, Porsche pinned on Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) technology which included a Drag Reduction System (DRS) like a Formula 1 racer. Now, by looking at performance, Porsche equipped the Mission R with two electric motors with a maximum power of 435 hp and 653 hp respectively.

In qualifying mode, the two motors are claimed to deliver less than 1,100 hp to all Mission R wheels. Furthermore, Porsche claims the Mission R in qualifying mode can accelerate from still to 100 kph in less than 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of more than 300 kph.
Interestingly, Porsche also claims that the Mission R electric motor can deliver a constant power of 680 hp in race mode. The battery used by Mission R is said to have a capacity of around 80 kWh and is claimed to be able to charge quickly from 5-80 percent in just 15 minutes. Well, now that we've broken even, it's about time we got to see what's new from Porsche, the Mission X as the call of tomorrow*** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | PORSCHE | CARSCOOPS | AUTOCAR ]
