The first sports car made by Tata Motors

Tata Motors is known as an Indian automotive manufacturer that produces cheap cars and commercially purposed cars. But at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show, they performed with an unusual thing namely by bringing a sports car named Tata TAMO Racemo Concept at the world's prestigious automotive exhibition.

TAMO is a sub brand of Tata Motors and Racemo is the first sports car made in India which was developed by combining phygital, which is a physical and digital merger.

So called because this car also has strong connection features such as cloud computing, analytic, geo-spatial and mapping that interact with humans. There is even an interactive game from Microsoft where you can try this racing version of Racemo+.

"We introduce TAMO as our answer to technology, business models and collaboration. Racemo is the first innovation from TAMO, our emotions and leap forward to the future," said Guenter Butschek, CEO of Tata Motors.

This sports car concept appears with a coupe body and can only accommodate two seaters in the cabin and is a design work from Tata Motors Design Studio in Turin, Italy. This car is built using the MoFlex Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) structure, and is the first car to use this type of structure. Just info, MMS is the latest technology that makes it easy to apply exterior and interior designs.

"The style and design will provide new experiences and technology, Racemo is proof of consumer character development that has become one of the digital lifestyles. This sports car will also be the best solution thanks to the new appearance and showing Tata Motors' vision and mission," Guenter added.

About the engine, Racemo is equipped with a three-cylinder 1,200 cc engine with a turbocharged. The result is the power produced reaches 189 horsepower, and torque of 210 Nm. To drive the car, those engine's power is channeled through a 6-speed automatic transmission system.

No wonder, this sports car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6 seconds and also there are several other main features such as Bi-LED headlights, electric-powered steering-assited, and then airbag features for the driver and passenger.

But unfortunately in July 2017, the Indian automotive manufacturer decided to cancel the launch of the version production of the TAMO Racemo sports car. Yes, this sports car project is one of the most ambitious projects in Tata Motors history. On the same occasion the automotive manufacturer also said that the sports car had reached the stage where they were ready to produce and launch the production version.

The main reason for stopping this car project is a financial problem. Initially TAMO Racemo was intended only for design studies, not mass produced. When shown to high ranked officials at Tata Motors, they agreed to produce these sports car. But then canceled it, because the cost is expensive.

"But now we have put it into 'ice crates'. Whenever we need it we can bring it out and then produce it if the financial conditions allow for commercialization," added Butschek.
Surprisingly, Tata Motors also showcased the electric version of its sports car ‘Racemo+-‘ at this year’s Auto Expo. The Home-grown carmaker unveiled Racemo electric concept at the Auto Show.

It is powered by a 200 hp electric motor with 210 Nm of peak torque. It has the lithium-ion battery pack. Tata Racemo+- is a two-seater that features a 6-speed AMT transmission. Besides, the electric car can travel 350 km on a single charge. Tata Motors claims that the car can do 0-100kmph within 6 seconds.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARSCOOPS | DRIVESPARK | CARBIKETECH]

McLaren intends to bring their Vision Gran Turismo hypercar into reality

Do you remember the McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo concept? Yes, that is a video-game supercar created as part of a partnership with PlayStation "Gran Turismo Sport." Well, recently McLaren confirmed that they are currently building a new hypercar codenamed BC-03, and said to be inspired by Vision Gran Turismo. However McLaren did not provide a detailed explanation regarding those hypercar.
McLaren Ultimate Vision Gran Turismo concept is said to be inspiration for the newest McLaren's hypercar codenamed BC-03. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2PMsEmZ)
Through the company spokesperson who only said that the BC-03 is a bespoke customer commission being created by McLaren Special Operations. But the spokesman declined to share further information because the project specifications were confidential between the MSO and its clients.
Obviously these BC-03 (which stands for Bespoke Commission 03) is very different from Speedtail which is the latest McLaren hypercar that has 3 seats. As quoted from PistonHeads, the BC-03 is expected to focus more on track performance than grand touring and direct speed. It was also reported that this hypercar would be produced in a limited number of only 5 units.
There is no official powertrain info about the BC-03, but many speculates that it will use a version of McLaren's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 combined with a hybrid setup similar to the one found in the Vision Gran Turismo, which means the electric motor delivers power to each front wheel. With the powertrain composition, it is estimated that the total power that can be produced is more than 1,000 hp.
Considering McLaren wants all of their cars to be hybridized in some ways by the yeear 2025, this makes sense. Also mentioned, it will be more capable than the Senna GTR, and use a carbon fiber body. Let's just wait for the next news about this hypercar! *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | PISTONHEADS | ROAD AND TRACK | CARSCOOPS]

McLaren Speedtail will be the most expensive Super Series model

McLaren finally made sure to produce the new Super Series family members. This hypercar is claimed to be more powerful than McLaren P1 using new hybrid technology. These hyper-GT reportedly will launch on October, 2018.
Spyshot image of newest McLaren Speedtail in camouflage skin promised the power of up to 1,000 hp and reach top speed of 243 mph. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/2Ap3GVy)
McLaren Speedtail codenamed BP-23 will carry a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that has been embedded in 720S. When used in 720S this machine only has 710 hp, but on Speedtail it has a different power because of the hybrid technology.

The combination of conventional machines with the latest hybrid technology in this hypercar is capable of producing 987 hp. The total power is claimed to be greater than the McLaren P1 which only has 903 hp with a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine.

Indeed, when viewed from the specifications of the engine, Speedtail has a greater capacity. However, Mike Flewitt as CEO of McLaren said that the most influential difference was in hybrid technology.

"Speedtail will use a hybrid system that is different from P1," said Flewitt.

Although it is believed to be the fastest model for McLaren, this hypercar can only go from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds with a maximum speed of 350 km/h. These notes are quite unfortunate because by carrying a more powerful engine and new hybrid technology Speedtail has the same performance as the McLaren P1 when accelerating.

"We will not target high top speeds on behalf of top speed. We are more focused on improving performance on the other hand so that this car will be 'super comfortable' and 'super to drive', ”added Flewitt.

McLaren's number one person is also very confident that consumers will be very comfortable in the car to travel far to 3,218 km. If this Speedtail is more comfortable, then the money poured by consumers is claimed to be paid off.
This hypercar is predicted to be sold at a price of US. $2.1 million, equivalent to Rp.30.8 billion. And McLaren Speedtail is only produced as many as 106 units and is ready to be delivered to consumers at the end of 2019. The first hypercar unit is predicted to be in the hands of consumers in 2020. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CARBUZZ | CARSCOOPS]
