Internet Doomsday 2015

Time will increased 1 Second on June 30, 2015
On Tuesday, June 30, 2015 will be one second longer than other days throughout the year. Scientists will add 1 second on that day or the so-called leap seconds.

According to scientists from the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERRSS), it is done to make sure the time on an atomic clock with the time fixed in accordance with the rotation of the earth - which slows down about 1 per 2,000 seconds per day.

The atomic clocks - are known to have high accuracy of 10^9 seconds per day and will not change until the thousand years were - used to set the time on Earth.

Although the rotation of Earth on its axis is slowing, atomic clocks keep moving constantly. Indeed, this is not a serious matter, but such conditions would make an atomic clock is not synchronized with the rotation of the Earth. At the extremes, the instrument might indicate broad daylight time when the sky is dark. Or at least in the year of 2700, one day on Earth to 24.5 hours - not 24 hours as it should.

"Geologically, the movement of the Earth slows down from time to time, and it can cause problems," said Demetrios Matsakis, Head of Time Services at the the US Naval Observatory as by LiveScience on Saturday, January 10, 2015. "What would you do if it turns out the day to be more long?"
This summer, a “leap second” will threaten to wreak havoc across the Internet. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1BzwNze)
The solution, the International Earth Rotation Service (IERS) adds 1 second as an adjustment. The leap second is scheduled to be at the mid point of the year, June 30, 2015 at 23:59:59 UTC.

And it's not the first time that happened, but this will be the 26th leap second added to a calendar year since the practice began in 1972.

Internet Doomsday
Although no effect on human life in general, the addition of 1 second this time feared to re-ignite 'internet doomsday' in a small scale.

The similar addition in 2012 caused problems for large Internet companies such as Reddit, LinkedIn, Gizmodo, Gawker, Yelp, and Foursquare. As quoted from the Wired, Reddit had impaired for 1.5 hours.

Problems experienced by Amadeus Altea, one of the major online reservation system. The Qantas and Virgin Australia flight plan also had impaired.

Therefore, during the leap second, the computer clock will still move for 60 seconds. Matsakis said, computer considers by adding second as a step backwards. The computer system can not recognize the 'two seconds at the same time'. As a result, the machine will take it as an error, a heavy burden would be experienced by the CPU.

Differences with Google. The search engine giant has added a few milliseconds on the server several times a year. In this way, the server will not be affected when the addition of a second.

Another way to avoid problems is to turn off the computer system for 1 or 2 hours around the time of the addition.

However, it is not only a leap second is risky on a computer system. Matsakis hope, he never was in the plane when it was done. Therefore, the addition of second known to disrupt GPS reception, which can be a problem for pilots.

Leap second is more subtle correction than a leap year. There is an additional 1 day - in February 29 - every 4 years.

It is common knowledge, the Earth rotation is not perfect, and there are deviations from year to year at the level of milliseconds. So in every few years, the necessary adjustments, the addition seconds done in June or December. To be sure, in June 30, 2015 will have 86.401 seconds, not 86,400. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE]

An Australian motorbike maker named Ian Drysdale has crafted this futuristic vehicle in his workdshop based in Springvale, Victoria. The Drysdale Motorcycle Company has a record of making ultra modern V8 engines. The shop owner has tried to add hydraulics to the bike and eventually, he ended up fitting all those things which mentioned above.

The bent-axis 9-piston radial pump is embedded into the bike which stretches the transmission from the 2 stroke 250 cc gas engine. The hydraulic system of the pump generates 4,500 psi worth force to activate this unique motorbike named Dryvtech 2x2x2. The fluid reaches the motors of both the wheels through the steel pipelines. The steering gets its direction through the other two hydraulic lines placed over the job. Uniquely, to reduce the speed of the motorcycle, the conventional brakes have been replaced by the regenerative brake alike hydraulic functions.

The major component across each part of this Dryvtech 2x2x2 motorbike is the hydraulic system which has been proved to be a wise choice for the desired purpose. The pressurized fluids will be guiding the motors of both the wheels. Concerning the steering, unconventionally the front wheel is not connected to the handle bar. Rather, the wheels on either end are mutually connected for proper function. The rear wheel’s degree of turn is dependent upon the front one’s status.

The prototype of the bike seems really to be a masterpiece and it can stretch a new generation of two wheelers for the future. It is available for bid on eBay’s Australian website back in 2014 with a price starting of AU $10,000 or US $8,277.50.

As it is known that the history of the creation of this 'Iron Frog', one of them to devour the African desert. But not necessarily able to devour the South American desert, which has a different characters. So Henrard doing extreme changes and a bit of force the car's performance, only to make his car to reach the finish line.

"This car made its debut in the Africa race. Although never achieve the best results at the time, but now I am very confident that the car has been very mature to achieve the best results. This car also has proven its performance in several test sessions and will be ready to prove its performance in the Dakar Rally 2015, "said Henrard with optimism.
As an illustration, this car has been following the local competition and was able to finish in the top 10 in several stages. This means that there are real targets that can he pairs before competing in the Dakar Rally 2015.

Japanese Maritime Coastal Agency (JCG) reported on Thursday, December 25, 2014, there has been a vomit of a volcanic crater on the island which is thought to be a trigger to the increasing size of the land. "The mountain on the island has spewed the lava into the southern part of the island, as much as 5-6 times," said JCG, as quoted by The Japan News on Sunday, December 28, 2014.

Niijima Island originally emerged from the sea after a mountain in it erupted, on November 20, 2013 ago (jump to the article). At first, the diameter of the volcano was only about 150 meters, and the size of the island of about 300x200 meters.

Then in March 2014, based on the satellite imagery, the Niijima Island are known to have joined the Nishino-shima. The combined size to 1,000 square meters. Height of the island also rose to 60 meters above sea level, and is now 110 meters above sea level.

According to the CJG, this phenomenon is the first time since 1974, which also had similar things happen, where an island emerged from the sea after the eruption. While the Japanese government spokesman, Yoshihide Suga said the Japan goverment welcomed if the island can really permanent and can be inhabited. "We are happy if it will be permanent," said Suga, as published by LiveScience.

A similar incident occurred in 2013 ago. A similar new island appeared off the coast of Pakistan (jump to the article). Only half an hour after the earth shook tremendously from the 7.8 magnitude quake, on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, another surprise awaits residents of the coastal cities Gwadar. They see a new island appeared of the sea, just 1 kilometer from the beach. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | THE JAPAN NEWS | LIVESCIENCE]

As a result, there are three interesting concept tires made by the participants, namely Boostrac, Alpike, and Hyblade. These tires were created as a future product that is able to adapt to climate change, ranging from desert sand, snow, and heavy rain.

Boostrac has a tread with a hexagonal-shaped blocks that could turn into a wider, resulting in maximum traction performance especially on steep road conditions and heavy, like a desert and mountain roads.

Alpike designed to have the tire circumference mode can be enlarged, so that the distance between the vehicle body and the road surface will be far, optimum and suitable for thick snowy road conditions. Also, the distance between the tread and the tread which occurs due to an enlarged tires will improve traction on snowy and icy roads thin.

While HyBlade designed to provide optimal solutions in the face of heavy rain, equipped with a tread with water drains and the fingers that make maximum tire performance in times of heavy rain.
All three of these products have been on display at the Essen Motors Show, Germany, November 29 to December 7, 2014. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | GIZMODO AUSTRALIA]
