Ferrari Resurrects the Testarossa with 849, Setting a New Power Benchmark

Power Reborn - Every now and then, the automotive world witnesses a moment when history and innovation collide. It’s not just about a new car rolling off the line, but about a name, a memory, and a legacy being reborn with a completely new face. Maranello-based premium automaker has done exactly that with the return of the Testarossa—only this time, it’s not a nostalgic reissue. It’s the Ferrari 849 Testarossa, a hypermodern, record-breaking supercar that pushes Maranello into an entirely new era

At its core, the 849 Testarossa replaces the SF90 Stradale, but Ferrari hasn’t merely created an upgrade. Instead, the designers, under Flavio Manzoni, have sculpted something that looks and feels like a leap into the future. The car’s silhouette borrows cues from aeronautics and the prototype racers of the 1970s, yet it doesn’t fall into retro homage. Sharp geometric cuts, vertical lines, and sculptural curves define a body that is as futuristic as it is functional. The doors themselves are a marvelsingle-piece aluminum alloy structures that double as aerodynamic ducts, patented by Ferrari, ensuring both performance and uniqueness.

From the side, the dramatic vents and bold character lines guide the eye toward a rear that’s nothing short of theatrical. Twin fins, inspired by the 512 S, pair with an active wing to form a patented aero system that keeps the car planted at insane speeds. A muscular diffuser, sculpted bumpers, and the iconic twin exhausts finish the picture with an unmistakable Ferrari flair. This is not just form for beauty’s sake—every detail contributes to airflow, cooling, and stability.

Step inside, and Ferrari has maintained its obsession with blending race-car minimalism and Italian sophistication. The cockpit is snug and driver-focused, with a floating-effect dashboard, neatly integrated controls, and a redesigned central tunnel. Inspired by the flagship F80 hypercar, the interior avoids clutter, emphasizing clarity and balance, with subtle details like aluminum woofers doubling as door components.

The numbers behind this car are staggering. With 1,035bhp on tap49 more than the SF90 Stradalethe 849 Testarossa rockets from 0 to 62mph in just 2.35 seconds and surpasses 205mph. On Ferrari’s Fiorano track, it has already proven itself with a blistering 1:17.5 lap time, edging ahead of its predecessor and nearly matching the SF90 XX Stradale, a limited-series machine. The Assetto Fiorano pack takes performance even further, shaving 30kg and fine-tuning the car for maximum track capability

While the heart of the machine remains a twin-turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 paired with three electric motors, Ferrari has refined almost every component. Larger turbochargers with low-friction bearings, a revised valvetrain, a lighter crankshaft, and titanium screws all add efficiency and power. The exhaust system is redesigned for better sound and higher revs, climbing to an 8,300rpm redline. Alone, the V8 produces 818bhp, while the electric motors contribute up to 217bhp, managed by a 7.5kWh battery that also provides 18 miles of pure electric range.

Ferrari didn’t stop at raw power. They advanced the driving intelligence of the car with the Integrated Vehicle Estimator, a system introduced with the F80. It creates a real-time “digital twin” of the car’s dynamics, predicting its next moves within milliseconds and adjusting stability, braking, and torque distribution accordingly. The result? A supercar that feels more intuitive, precise, and responsive than anything Ferrari has put on the road before.

Supporting all this are Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, recalibrated regenerative systems, and a faster-shifting gearbox derived from the 296 GTB. Every improvement, from cooling efficiency to aerodynamics, has been designed with one goal: to make the 849 Testarossa Ferrari’s most powerful and most advanced production car to date.

Deliveries of the coupé will begin next spring, with the Spider version following in the autumn. Pricing in Europe starts at €460,000 for the coupé and €500,000 for the Spider, with the track-focused Assetto Fiorano package available for those who want even sharper performance. The car is not cheap, but then again, legends never are.

When the SF90 arrived in 2019, it shifted expectations, blending a fierce V8 with three electric motors in a way few had seen before. Since then, rivals like the Lamborghini Revuelto with its V12 hybrid setup and the upcoming Aston Martin Valhalla have crowded into the same space. Whether Ferrari’s next generation will hold its edge in five years is uncertain, but based on this first look, the 849 Testarossa seems ready to fight for the crown. | 0EkSu4AoqBk |
What Ferrari has achieved with the 849 Testarossa is not just a revival of a name—it’s the creation of a new benchmark. It doesn’t live in the shadow of the past but carves out its own identity, blending heritage with cutting-edge engineering. For enthusiasts, collectors, and dreamers alike, this isn’t just another supercar. It’s Ferrari reminding the world why their badge still represents the pinnacle of speed, design, and innovation. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | FERRARI | AUTOCAR | AUTODESIGNMAGAZINE | TOPGEAR | EVOMAGAZINE IN X | AR12GAMING IN X ]
