The car was built using the Mondial Tchassis #76390, with significant modifications made to the majority of the bodywork compared to the original design. Reportedly, at that time this car was planned to be used for the 1988 Indy500.

According to multiple former employees of the Pace Car team, this
particular Ferrari was regarded as the least reliable among all the PPG
pace cars. Nonetheless, when functioning properly, it exemplified the
excellence typical of Italian exotic cars from that era.

Powering the car is a mid-mounted 4-valve, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) V8 engine with a displacement of either 3.2 liters or 3.4 liters. This impressive powerplant produces an estimated output of approximately 270 horsepower. Paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, the car achieves a 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 6.3 seconds. The top speed is estimated at 148 mph.
