Bertone came back by launching the GB110 supercar fueled by plastic waste

New Beast Who doesn't know Bertone, one of the oldest and respected Italian coachbuilder companies which has been famous for its various phenomenal works that's milling around the automotive world such as the Alfa Romeo BAT, Lamborghini Countach, Alfa Romeo Montreal, Lancia Stratos HF, and others.

As we all know, this famous Italian coachbuilder was hit by a number of unsolved, complicated problems, led to its bankruptcy back in 2014. As quoted of Wikipedia, during its defunc periods, Bertone was acquired by an architect and retained by some of his former employees, which continued as a small Milan-based external design office named Bertone Design focused more on industrial and architecture designs.

Now, it seems that the Italian coachbuilder is trying to rise again to take part in the automotive world by launching a new supercar named the Bertone GB110 which is reportedly an amalgamation of the previous model considering that this model inspired by the company designs of the 1950s and 1970s.

Such in keeping with Bertone’s rich automotive legacy, the Bertone GB110 continues to pave the way for world-class standards. Mauro and Jean-Franck Ricci have harnessed 38 years of combined experience in engineering and automotive (working with over 22,000 engineers) to merge Bertone’s invaluable design heritage with high-performance automotive engineering.

Although not yet confirmed, this Bertone-made supercar is expected to use the same platform as the Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan due to its similarity appearances. While other exterior designs are rumored to take inspiration from the classic Bertones of the 1970s. Meanwhile, the supercar cabin offers a digital instrument cluster coupled with a combination of several physical controls. In addition, there is also a digital screen on the passenger side that displays a number of gauges.

It's not yet known what the mid-mounted drivetrain might be look like, but Bertone says it will use ones made by a German manufacturer, which is capable to produce power of 1,100 hp and 1,100 Nm of torque then transfered through a seven-speed manual transmission system to drive all-wheels.

Uniquely, this Bertone-made supercar that looks beautiful with a pair of butterfly-styled doors does not use conventional fuels, instead synthetic fuels made of plastic waste. For this reason, Bertone collaborated with Select Fuel, which has the technology to convert recycled polycarbonate compounds into renewable fuels.

In terms of performance, Bertone claims this supercar can accelerate from still to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds, while 0-200 kph in 6.8 seconds, and 0-300 kph in 14 seconds. What's more, the Bertone GB110 is also claimed capable to be driven up to a top speed of 380 kph.
Furthermore, this Bertone-made supercar reportedly will be produced in limited numbers, namely only 33 units and will be sent to consumers starting in 2024, in the spring to be precise.
