Audi creates fuel from water

Audi made the big leap in technology of synthetic fuels. fuel, named e-benzine without using any petroleum. It boasts an octane rating of 100, although that’s using the European measurement system. Audi is currently reviewing the old fuel with new fuel which only needs water, hydrogen, CO2 and sunlight to create e-benzine.
Audi claims to have created the first batch of synthetic "e-benzin" gasoline without using any petroleum. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1Kjpii4)
Audi partnered with Global Bioenergies to produce e-benzin. The partner company operates a plant in France that harvests isobutene from renewable materials, and that forms the basis for e-benzin. A second partner, the Fraunhofer Center for Chemical-Biotechnological Processes, refines the isobutene using hydrogen.

Audi seems to be on a roll when it comes to synthetic fuels. Last fall, it unveiled “e-diesel,” a fossil-free fuel it claims was made using only water, electricity, and CO2 generated by organic waste.

It also began producing “e-gas” in 2013 using wind energy generated by turbines in the North Sea. The fuel was developed more or less specifically for the A3 g-tron hatchback, which is the only natural gas car Audi makes at the moment.

And the Global Bioenergies will be building a demonstration plant at the Fraunhofer Center that will create the e-benzin in larger quantities by 2016, however it is unclear if there is any practical application for the process beyond a mere technology demonstration.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DIGITAL TRENDS]

Waiting for Porsche Pajun all electric car

Porsche has been going green with electrification and now it’s adding a new trick to its arsenal that will take on the BMW 5 Series and the Tesla Model S. According to AutoCar, the upcoming Porsche Pajun could have a battery electric model as well as a hydrogen fuel cell model.

The Tesla Model S is definitely a target benchmark for the new Porsche Pajun. Reports claim the new electric model will deliver performance specifications that will closely match the standard Tesla Model S. The four-door Porsche Pajun is expected to boast 420 bhp as well a range of 265 miles.

Unlike the Tesla Model S, the Porsche will not design a brand new chassis for the Pajun. Instead, the Porsche EV and hydrogen fuel cell will utilize the same front and rear crash structure and side sill as the MSB platform that underpins the Panamera. However, the MSB chassis in the new vehicles are modified to accommodate rear-mounted electric motors. The Porsche patent for the new rear-mount architecture was filed back in December last year.

The Porsche Pajun's modified MSB platform is internally known as the "eMSB." Reports also reveal that the rear-mounted electric motors will be designed to be a part of the eMSB structure, lending an increase of overall rigidity and extra reinforcement against rear-end impact. Finally, the rear-mounted powertrain design will also be applied in the future Audi R8 e-tron electric sports car.
Details regarding the hydrogen fuel cell Pajun are limited but Volkswagen R&D boss Ulrich Hackenberg first announced plans to develop a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle during an annual VW conference back in March. Volkswagen is the parent company of Porsche. The Porsche Pajun could arrive as soon as late 2017 or early 2018. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUTOCAR]
