The Tower, an ambitious project on a new scale and design

Anyone who has ever stood on top of skyscrapers, both the Empire State Building in New York or the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, could prove a force of nature at that altitude. Not only a strong wind, but also other complex natural power to prop up tall buildings meant to be more, far beyond mere aesthetic interest.

With this in mind, Emaar Properties, confirmed that they have completed the wind test for The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour. The tower is planned to stand 100 meters higher than the Burj Khalifa towering about 828 meters.

The wind test is considered as a very important process in determining aspects of the altitude and the final design.

"The wind test is an important component in the structural design stage, and we have deployed innovative engineering techniques to confirm the strength of this new icon," said project architect based Spanish-Swiss, Santiago Calatrava Valls.

The tests involved 12 analysis and testing a number of different methods to ensure that all cases that may arise can be resolved. They did a test for the entire project using a scale model. As part of the climate tests in the local area, measurements were taken at different heights, including data provided by weather stations. Seismic studies were also performed on local soil conditions.

"This is to ensure maximum security and stability of the building. Design The Tower also includes several systems and systems reliever shock absorbers, which is located at the points and different heights," Emaar said.

Work on the project took place last month, with Aurecon appointed as engineers and architects, as well as the famous Calatrava team in terms of design and engineering work.

This tower was described by the Chairman of Emaar Properties, Mohamed Alabbar as an ambitious project on a new scale and design. "This project requires high precision engineering in all aspects," said Alabbar.
He also said that the Tower will serve as a beacon of hope that is positive for the city and the region. The master plan of the complex area of 6 square kilometers was revealed in April last year.

Emaar said, The Tower includes 679 million square meters of residential space, 851,000 square meters of commercial property, 22 hotels with 4,400 rooms and 11.1 million square meters of retail. The tower will feature a VIP park observation deck, and spinning balcony. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DUBAI VIRAL]

A unique design approach of Omega Motorcycle

Its name is less well known, because it is a relatively new company. Well, a manufacturer of motorcycles from Spain named SBAY Motor Company was founded in 2009 by Sergio Bayarri. However, one of the production is the Omega, a two-wheeled vehicles which pushes the boundaries of conventional motorcycle design with its unorthodox approach. And as quoted of MCS, the company said that the Omega is "a bike that leaves aside what is 'normal' to focus on what matters most, the road".

Having seen firsthand its shape, does look very different from the motorcycle in general. Because the motorcycle has a design that could be considered unique. Motorcycles are built using a unique omega type frame structure draped with carbon fiber monocoque bodywork. Special things and uniques of this motorcycle are hub center steering system and swing-arm based front suspension. The complex hub center steering system is built by ISR Sweden, while steering is operated by push-pull cables.

Here are several pictures of the Omega motorcycle. (All pictures taken from: http://adf.ly/1d1kUH)

Has a weighs about 190 kg, the Omega also sports a single sided swing-arm setup at the rear. The uncustomary swing-arm front suspension has been designed and built in-house by SBAY in CNC machined 7075 aluminium, and is complimented by the side mounted Öhlins dampers allowing 120 mm wheel travel. The rear is held up with a single sided swing-arm setup along with a floating Öhlins monoshock on progressive linkage, which allows up to 110 mm of wheel travel.

This custom built motorcycle uses the Harley-Davidson Revolution V-Twin liquid cooled engine with a capacity of 1,247 cc that can spewed the power up to 125 hp. Combined with a 5 speed integrated gearbox, the engine's power send to rear wheel using a chain driven final transmission. Cradling the oily bits is the distinctive chassis – an Omega type frame, CNC machined with 7075 aluminium, and littered with carbon fiber subframes.
The motorcycle designed and manufactured in house by SBAY Motor Company, the frame is composed of two main parts and joining elements made from a CNC machined single block of high strength aluminium. Components on the Omega are handpicked, and includes the very best in the business, such as Brembo, Rizoma, Motogadget, ISR or Galfer. Tha radical motorcycle sell with the price of €48,000 or approx Rp.690 million.

What happens to the brain when we hypnotized?

Hypnotize is already known in the long term. In the medical world, hypnosis is one way that is used to help treat certain medical conditions. Unfortunately, many patients are skeptical about the potential benefits of hypnosis in medicine.

Hypnosis is the first form of psychotherapy in the Western world, but little is known about how it works.

(Picture from: http://adf.ly/1d0BMa)
The new study, led by David Spiegel, a psychiatry at the Stanford University School of Medicine finally managed to uncover the real changes that occur in the brain when entering a hypnotic state.

Spiegel and his colleagues pooled study of 57 people as volunteers. After undergoing tests, it turns out 36 of which showed high susceptibility to hypnosis, while the rest seemed not too vulnerable.

By using MRI, researchers measured brain activity based on changes in the blood flow. Measurements were taken at rest, when recalling the memory, and when the volunteers got an order to be able to enter the hypnotic state.

"Some parts of the brain relax while hypnotized volunteers, while other parts have become more active," Spiegel said.

When hypnotized, people with high levels of hypnotic susceptibility experiencing three different changes in the brain that did not happen when they are in the waking state. Those changes did not occur in the brain with low hypnotic susceptibility.

In hypnosis, a decline in activity in the area of the brain called the dorsal Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC). This section deals with consciousness and motor control, but it also plays a role in decision making.

Hypnotized person also increased connections between the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the insula. The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain that helps us to plan and carry out the tasks, while the insula helps to keep the mind is connected with the body.

"In hypnosis, we know that you can change things like gastric acid secretion, heart rate, and blood pressure. Your brain is very good in control of what happens in the body, and the insula is one that has an important role," said Spiegel.

A third change, people in hypnosis also experienced a reduction of connectivity between prefortal dorsolateral cortex with the default mode network (DMN), the most active part when someone is daydreaming. Decrease of connectivity that makes the dissolution of the relationship between the action and the underlying consciousness.

In the study explained that a hypnotized person is very focused but not alarmed at what they do. They do not consider the instruction, but only along with it, and have a more direct relationship between the mind and the physical functions of their bodies.

Based on this knowledge, doctors may be able to improve the response of hypnosis with a better way to help treat medical conditions. So far, hypnosis has been shown to help people quit smoking or overcome pain and stress.

"I hope this study will open the eyes of all the people that hypnosis is really a neurobiological phenomenon that deserves attention," said Spiegel. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | INQUISITR]
