The world's first eyeborg

Antennas are not always used only on inanimate objects. As performed by Neil Harbisson, actually makes the antenna in helping him recognize colors. This man was born a color blind with a condition known as achromatopsia. He saw a gray-paced world, there is only black and white.

This condition makes it not discouraged. Harbisson reinvent himself. He planted an antenna implant that is inserted into the bone down to the skull. This antenna has the ability to recognize the colors presented in the form of sound. Within three years, he was able to remember all the microtones resulting from the reading of color.

After he mastered the use of the antenna, he adds infrared and ultraviolet waves to repertoire. He admits, has been fully able to assimilate and dreamed device can recognize a variety of colors. "My brain was able to hear a variety of colors even in my sleep," he said when speaking in public as reported from News.Discovery on Wednesday, March 2, 2016.

Of Harbisson information, it appeared that the body can be modified and can also improve the quality and function, or called Transhumanism. It allows someone to use technology to enhance their intellectual, physical and psychological condition.

The Harbisson's success, making him considered to be in the world's first cyborg. Antennas are used and planted permanently on the skull and deliver information in the form of sound waves to the inner ear through the spinal cord.

Now with the antenna he appeared like any other normal human being who can recognize the different types of color through sound waves. As an artist, Harbisson use the antennas to produce a variety of the latest artwork. Now, he has managed to change the voice that he heard then presented in a visual form. He has Eyeborg applications that can be used on Android devices to listen to different kinds of color through sound. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | NEWS DISCOVERY]

Four of the rare old motorcycles

In this growing world, progress in the field of transport seems to be a thing that can not inevitable is not it? Therefore, it is not a new thing again if we see a lot of the more modern means of transportation as well as sophisticated as the presence of electric cars to motorcycles to the latest design.

But it is no less important that we need to know is a means of transportation in ancient times, especially motorcycles are widely used. Here we will convey four of the rare old motorcycles in the world and even you never been heard their names.

1. 1907 Curtiss V8 motorcycle
This old motorcycle can be regarded as a historic motorcycle for the United States. The United States has created a lot of means of transportation, especially the motorcycle including the engine speed too.

However, this motorcycle can be regarded as the first motorcycle has a high ability and uses V8-powered engine. This motorcycle can also be said to have a very unique shape. This bike was created by Glen Hammond Curtiss.

And Curtiss has just piloted his monstrous 4,000 cc V8 into the record books and become the (unofficial) absolute world land-speed record holder for the next four years with the top speed of 136.3 mph (or 219.35 km/h) in 1907.

2. 1902 Humber motorcycle
The next motorcycle which is the most unique motorcycle is a motorcycle named Humber. The motorcycle name implies to the person who created it was an Englishman named Thomas Humber produced the first practical motorcycle made in the UK by fitting a bicycle with an E. J. Pennington two-horsepower motor in 1898.

This motorcycle is a motorcycle that was made in 1902 with an engine capacity of 350 cc, it immediately catches the attention of many people and became one of the earliest of the transportation vehicle development in the UK. Quite unique is not it?

3. 1900 Motosacoche motorcycle
The next motorcycle that can be said is the oldest is a motorcycle named Motosachoce is a motorcycle that is produced by a Henri and Armand Dufaux, in Geneva, Switzerland since 1900. The company was once the biggest Swiss motorcycle manufacturer, known also for its MAG (Motosacoche Acacias Geneve) proprietary-engines used by other European motorcycle manufacturers.

From 1900, Motosachoce produced a bicycle auxiliary engine, in a subframe that could be installed into a conventional bicycle. This looked like an engine in a bag, hence the Motosacoche name, meaning "engine in a bag".

4. 1897 Holden motorcycle
This bike could be said as one of the oldest motorcycles in the world named Holden is a motorcycle that was created by Colonel Henry Capel Holden who also was the designer of the Brooklands race track. The first 4 cylinder motorcycle appeared in 1895. His machine had a flat water-cooled 4 cylinder motor which had only two connecting rods. the engine in effect had double acting pistons.

The connecting rods were directly linked by cranks to the rear wheel which made control difficult at low speed. Although at the time, the speed of the unique motorcycle in terms of shape is only about 24.85 mph (or 40 km/h), but it can be said as a remarkable achievement at the time. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | ]

The First Welsh Greenest Car: The Riversimple Rasa

Lightweight Green - The rising concerns over air pollution have made environmentally friendly cars more crucial than ever. This shift towards green transportation has driven manufacturers to explore alternative fuel options for their vehicles. Amidst the numerous eco-friendly cars available today, the Riversimple Rasa stands out as one of the most environmentally friendly models, both in terms of emissions and the materials used.

The Riversimple Rasa is a hydrogen-powered vehicle that has captured the attention of car enthusiasts and environmentalists alike. The inception of this groundbreaking car is attributed to Chris Reitz, the former head of design for the Fiat 500. Reitz envisioned a powerful yet emission-free vehicle, a vision that led to the development of the Rasa. The project, spearheaded by Riversimple Movement Ltd., a British car manufacturer, took 15 years to materialize and required an investment of $14 million.

One of the key features that set the Riversimple Rasa apart is its use of an 8.5 kW low-power cell. Unlike typical hydrogen cars that use cells above 85 kW, the Rasa’s low-power cell significantly reduces its environmental impact. Despite its lower power output, the Rasa can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 10 seconds, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.

Weighing only 580 kilograms, including a fully filled hydrogen tank weighing 1.5 kilograms, the Rasa is exceptionally lightweight. This minimal weight contributes to its efficiency, allowing it to travel up to 480 kilometers on a single tank. The car is designed with longevity in mind, with an expected lifespan of up to 15 years on the road.

The development of the Riversimple Rasa has also been supported by a £2 million grant from the Welsh government, highlighting the commitment to fostering innovative green technologies. To ensure the vehicle's systems are fully validated, twenty prototypes will be produced for testing. These prototypes will help refine the design and functionality before the production model is scheduled to be released in 2018.
The Riversimple Rasa represents a significant step forward in the pursuit of sustainable transportation. Its innovative design and impressive performance are a testament to what can be achieved with dedication and a clear vision for a greener future. As the world continues to grapple with the challenges of air pollution, cars like the Rasa offer a promising solution, blending cutting-edge technology with environmental responsibility. *** [EKA [05032016] | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | RIVERSIMPLE | ELECTRICCARSREPORT | CARSCOOPS ]

Seeing the latest Volkswagen hybrid concept car

Among several new products ready for launch by Volkswagen (VW), German automotive manufacturers, it has also developed a hybrid car and touted as a competitor of the Toyota Prius. Although still in development, a model named 'VW XL3' is ready to slide in 2018.
The XL3 will not feature carbon fiber construction or a bespoke platform, so it will over three times cheaper than the XL1. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1Xfaiq)
Based on information as quoted from Autoevolution, a conventional hybrid concept car will be equipped with the engine capacity of 1.4 liters and is capable of producing up to 140 hp combined with electric motor-powered 35 hp. Fuel efficiency of the XL3 only requires 3 liters of fuel consumption for a distance of 100 kilometers.

For your information, three years ago before the issue of emissions scandal emerged, VW has launched a hybird product that is VW XL1. In capabilities, this model is somewhat superior than the XL3 being developed.

Equipped with a 0.8 liter TDI engine, XL1 able to achieve fuel consumption of 0.9 liters for a distance of 100 kilometers. Unfortunately, this car is priced quite expensive approximately €111 thousand or 1.6 billion with only 250 cars being built on a carbon fiber tub.
To keep the XL3 as cheap as an average Passat, Volkswagen is not going to use carbon fiber or a bespoke platform and the XL3 will also be a bargain at only €30,000 or approx Rp.433.3 million. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES| AUTOEVOLUTION]

A custom board tracker style bike from Djogja

Rifai Nur Hasan, a builder from Yogyakarta who have specialized in the making of board tracker motorcycles. This time by taking the base of Honda Tiger then a slick custom motorcycle born of his shop named 'NJoy 76'. Everything is custom, even to the smallest components.

"If we talk the board tracker like this, certainly we must re-create the entire frame. Nothing at all of the standard frame part is used, only the machine that still indicates this is Honda Tiger," said Rifai.

For the framework part, he uses two sizes of pipe. "The main bone in the bottom of the tank that serves as the machine holder using a 1 1/4 inch pipe while the other 1-inch diameter," he continued. And for the swing arm also used 1-inch pipe sized. "Overall use of seamless pipe because it's stronger," said Rifai again. For this framework design purely his idea.

He is proficient in the iron rolled up into the form of a unique framework like this. Once the frame is finished then he continued with the manufacture of the fuel tank and body. Certainly, there is no plastic and fiber. It was a taboo and forbidden to him. "By using a 1,2 mm galvanized plate from the tank to the stern," continued the man who known as an autodidact motorcycle modifier.

For the wheels, Rifai also experimenting with a combination of 15 inches rim in the rear and 17 inches at the front. "It's still somewhat rare, but with the right tires choices, the extrem impression of the difference of the rims is more frightening. Matched with the concept," said the owner of the shop on Jl. Ring Road Utara, Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta.

The rear rim that originally was a customized part that taken of the car. The width of the rim tread reaching 4 inches. With a profile tire of 140/80-15, so the rear wheel became one part that is interesting to look at.

Another unique thing of this custom motorcycle is the handlebars form. Since the distance between the seat and the handlebars far enough so that the steering shaft slightly bent and made more lenght so that it can be reached well by the rider.
Nothing at all of the standard frame part is used, only the machine that still indicates this is Honda Tiger. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1XflkH)
For the color choice of this custom motorcycle, Rifai prefers dark impression. "If we can called the motive such as the spilled coffee-milk," he said with a chuckle. But behind it all, there is also a realist airbrush elements attached to the custom bike body.

This airbrush painting done by Potlot, a renown realist airbrusher workshop in Djogja. "We make the face of a girl, like a Monalisa smile in the fuel tank. This is so that there is little impression of sweetness in the motorcyle that has appeared in extreme looks," he said proudly.

Let's look at some of the detail section that is made by Rifai himself. For example, the front suspention. "It was one of customized parts that taken of Yamaha Vega shock," he continued. Likewise with the rear suspention, has basically taken also from Vega but already overhauled.

The most eccentric or brave enough to do, ie the fuel tank cap. Rifai using custom result of gear. So has a fairly sharp serrations. If judged in terms of modification is obvious a new breakthrough. Indeed worthy of respect and appreciated. But if we're talking safety then of course this would be a very dangerous component. If an accident occurs it is likely part of the body of the rider be punctured this section and can be fatal. Hopefully it was not to happen!! *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | NJOY 76 | ENG-KIEE]

Like Humans, Science is not always true

Science is important, because science is a key answer to almost everything we know in this world. Science is a process where we look for new things about the world and everything in it.
Science is now used to answer all the questions in the world. Unfortunately, there are some things we do not know about science. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1XfXMY)
This relates to the object to be tested and observed, and we're all doing it. Even those who claim to hate science when the school or those who think scientists are too old-fashioned and stiff. However, there are some simple things we do not know about science.

Science could also be Wrong
Although the science is predominantly cultivated by people who have intelligence above average. However, science can be wrong and in fact science is constantly changing.

When a generation extinct or die, someday science will prove to be the discovery of new evidence that occurred decades ago.

Natural does not mean Healthy
Science may agree that everything that can be measured and the results are certainly appropriate its facts. But if you talk logic, the natural thing is not always good for health, but all people say eat a meal that is natural, free of chemicals. But, potassium cyanide is produced naturally, but it is not good for the body.

Bacteria in everywhere
It turns out bacteria is in everywhere, and in every cell in your body there's such thing as bacteria, where according List25 if we made in the percentage the result is 90%, bacteria. Thus, there is actually a lot more bacterial cells than the cells of your own body. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | ]
