Golden Masterpiece- In the ever-evolving world of custom motorcycles, creativity often walks hand-in-hand with tradition. For decades, Harley-Davidson has dominated the chopper scene, setting the tone for what a custom bike should look and feel like. But every now and then, something radically different roars into view — something that redefines expectations and breaks the mold. That something is the BMS Nehme-sis.
Rather than following the usual American V-twin template, the Nehme-sis begins its life as a Yamaha Road Star, a bold departure that immediately sets it apart. In the U.S., this makes it a "metric" chopper — a rare breed in a space so heavily influenced by American brands. But make no mistake, this bike is anything but ordinary. Built in 2006, the Nehme-sis was the brainchild of Sam Nehme, the man behind Florida’s Broward Motorsports and its custom wing, BMS Choppers. Sam didn’t just build a bike — he created a rolling piece of mechanical art.
From the moment it debuted, the Nehme-sis turned heads. It became the first metric chopper ever to win the coveted Rats Hole Custom Bike Show at Biketoberfest, a competition with over three decades of history. And this wasn’t just a one-off achievement. Its impact resonated worldwide, especially after its stunning appearance at the CRC Speedshow in Auckland, New Zealand in 2013, where local enthusiasts were left speechless by its beauty and engineering.
The visual appeal of Nehme-sis is undeniable. It's the world’s first motorcycle to be entirely plated in 24-karat gold. Measuring an impressive 3.5 meters in length, the chopper offers a singular red velvet-covered seat, sculpted to provide comfort without compromising on elegance. Only a few traces of the original Yamaha remain — the 1,700cc engine, engine mounts, and part of the frame neck that retains the VIN. Everything else was painstakingly handcrafted from scratch.
And when we say handcrafted, we mean it. Labor costs alone for building Nehme-sis hit a staggering $250,000 — not including the gold plating, custom parts, or paint. The engineering behind its radical form is just as impressive as its golden surface. Take the one-sided front “fork,” for instance. Milled from a solid billet of aluminum and extending over a meter, it's a fully functional piece of precision machinery. Pair that with an air-ride suspension system that allows the entire bike to lift by 25 centimeters or lower flat onto the ground, and you’ve got a ride that doesn’t even need a kickstand.
Nehme-sis's red-velvet saddle which designed so perfectly that make its rider felt comfortable and more classy on it. (Picture from: MotorcycleSpecs.co.za)
The rear of the bike is no less spectacular. A massive 360mm tire, sourced from Vee Rubber, is hugged by a seamlessly integrated LED lighting system in the fender’s edge. A single-sided swingarm continues the minimalist, futuristic feel, while also housing its part of the air suspension. What’s equally clever is the electronic grip shifter — instead of a traditional gear lever, the rider shifts gears by rotating the left handgrip, which can also toggle the suspension system. Combined with an automatic clutch, it makes for an ultra-clean design free of unnecessary cables and levers.
But what truly sets the Nehme-sis apart isn’t just its looks or tech — it’s the soul that went into building it.Sam Nehme and his team didn’t just aim for innovation; they pushed for something timeless. A bike like this doesn’t come around often. It’s a fusion of luxury, performance, and imagination, elevated into something that feels more like sculpture than machine.
Nearly two decades after its creation, the Nehme-sis still stands as a benchmark for what’s possible when boundaries are ignored and vision leads the way. Whether it’s seen gliding across the tarmac or sitting still under show lights, this golden beast continues to mesmerize and inspire — a true one-of-a-kind masterpiece in the world of custom choppers.

ONE-OFF A custom built motorcycle inspired by the classic figure of 1928 BMW R37, a racing motorcycle ridden by the famous German rider named Ernst Henne, when he broke the world record in speed in early 1930s.

And it was Revival Cycles, an Austin-based home modification tried to build a motorcycle as an attempt to revive the 'spirit' of BMW R37 with a quite radical look and given the name of Revival BMW Landspeeder.
The story is just as unusual as the custom motorcycle itself and started when a customer asks to be made a motorcyclethat is appropriate for display in a gallery. The customer intention to make 20 motorcycles and hire at least five custom builders simultaneously.
"All we really knew was that Max Hazan was building one, and we were building one. Of course, we were interested!" told Alan Stulberg of Revival Cycles as quoted of Bikeexif.

Alan was given full creative freedom, subject to budget. "Not the first time that’s happened, but it was the first time we knew a motorcycle would never be ridden by its owner—and did not need to be street legal." Motorcycle's frame do notusealuminum and replacingsteel chassis were formed in such a way, but with the wheelbase a slightly elongated several inches than the inspiration motorcycle model.

The original fork is still maintained because it is capable of holding the motorcycle even lauched more than 150 kph. But at the rear coupled with preload kinematic adjustable swing arms. Work onthe chassisandlegstakes upmorethansixweeks.

After all parts installed precision, then the design of the handlebars and the seat were made so exotic. The next step is to apply the BMW R100engine connected with two classic design exhausts. "I want all of them are not only elegant but also works perfectly," continued Alan.
Now for the color, if the whole body of the custom motorcycle is painted in black matte, and let its engine chrome-plated as well as the exhaust color was gold. These reincarnation results of 1920s racing motorcycle have been exhibited in a motorcycle custom event which held in Austin, Texas in April and at the same time meant to welcome the MotoGP event back in the 2016.

RareONES If you think that the most expensive motorcycle in the world is a modern motorcycle with high-tech features, or a gold-plated unit, then you are wrong. It turns out that this is the 1908 Harley-Davidson Model 4 'Strap Tank' which is touted as the world's most expensive rare motorbike today. This is a legendary unit that included the first generation of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. And of the 450 produced in 1908 by the Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer, it is estimated that fewer than a dozen remain today. Moreover of course, the number of units that are in good condition as auctioned is even more less. Besides that, this rare motorbike also has an interesting pedigree, making it one of the best of its kind available today. It is thought this is the earliest model ever found so far, as the prototype is long gone.

The story of this motorcycle model began in 1901 when William S. Harley, who was then 20 years old, together with his best friend Arthur Davidson built a 116 cc single-cylinder engine in Milwaukee. And it took two years to build the first engine which was then mounted on a bicycle chassis. Then they enlarged the engine to 405 cc after getting advice from legendary marine engineer Ole Evinrude.

These second project of them was completed in September 1904 and had used to race at the Milwaukee State Fair Park. At the time, their iron horse was ridden by Edward Hildebrand and was able to finish in fourth place. In the following year, Harley-Davidson comenced production in a small wooden shed with only five engines were built at the time. These first production engines were enlarged to 440 cc, and could only produce about 4 hp, which was a pretty good burst of power in that day.

Entering 1906, the company built a new factory in Chestnut Street, which later renamed to Juneau Avenue and is still Harley-Davidson's headquarters to this day. From there about 50 motorbikes were built from the single-story building. Its first model was known as the Harley-Davidson Strap Tank because the nickel-plated steel bands suspending the fuel and oil tanks from the frame.

One year later the factory could build around 150 machines. And in 1908 production jumped to 450 machines. Although Harley-Davidson wasn't the biggest manufacturer in the time, the Strap Tank has earned a good reputation for toughness. These earliest models of the Harley-Davidson Strap Tank is the most coveted unit of all Milwaukee machinery. They have a pattern that still persists today, by combining a clean but conservative style, a somber color scheme, and a slightly heftier engine than the others.

And this 1908 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank motorcycle unit that was auctioned is known to be one of the world's rarest motorbikes, it was found by David Uihlein in 1941 in complete condition in a Wisconsin barn which is only about 70 miles from Milwaukee, then Uihlein kept it in his home for the next 66 years.

Furthermore, this 1908 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank motorcycle has been restored in detail with the help of Paul Freehill of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Amazingly, the tank, wheels, engine belt pulley, seat cover, exhaust sleeve are all pristine, and even its engine number #2241 and carburetor #1049 are still printed and clearly visible. Then it finished under a gray color touch plus a red accent line.

When the hammer dropped at the auction event, this 1908 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank sold at a bid price of $850,000. But its new owner had to spend about $935,000 after the bid-price added by auction fees and other taxes.
Actually, this is not the first Strap Tank ever sold by Mecum Auctions in Las Vegas. Previously the auction company had sold the 1907 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank for $297,000 or Rp.4.5 billion. But the newly released of 1908 unit has a well-documented history, coupled with the motorcycle unit still had 115 years olds original parts. So it's undoubtly, this 1908 Harley-Davidson Strap Tank is a truly exceptional machine.
