Copper Caddy: Kindig-It Design’s Stunning Custom 1960 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
Copper Majesty - When people talk about iconic American cars, few names spark nostalgia like Cadillac. These machines have long symbolized luxury, bold design, and status on the road. But every now and then, someone takes one of these legends and turns it into something beyond what the factory ever dreamed of—something extraordinary. That’s exactly what happened to the 1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville, better known today as the Copper Caddy.

Built by the renowned team at Kindig-It Design, led by the always-inventive Dave Kindig, the Copper Caddyis a one-of-a-kind creation that pushes the limits of what custom cars can be. Known for his unmatched creativity and attention to the finest details, Kindig doesn’t just restore vintage vehicles—he reinvents them. And this Cadillac is proof of just how far his vision can go.

From the moment you see it, the Copper Caddy commands attention. Its unmistakable profile is the result of a 4-inch roof chop by legendary customizer Gene Winfield, a move that instantly transformed the car's silhouette into something sleek, low, and aggressive. But this wasn’t just a nod to classic hot rod styling. Kindig-It Design took that starting point and reworked every inch of the Cadillac’s body, smoothing out lines, reshaping wheel wells, and tucking in custom touches that blend vintage style with modern flair.

And then there’s the copper. It’s not just an accent—it’s a theme that flows through the entire car. From the bullet-tipped grille to the one-off hood vents, from the copper-infused trim to the iconic Kindig-It smooth door handles, the metal gleams with a warm glow that gives this car its signature look. Even the custom 20-inch wheels, designed by Kindig-It, are painted with whitewalls and highlighted with copper details.

Beneath the artful exterior lies an equally impressive foundation. The car rides on a fully customized Art Morrison chassis equipped with a 4-link rear suspension and a Panhard bar for precision handling. An air suspension setup lets the ride height shift with ease, giving the Caddy a perfect stance whether parked or cruising.

Under the hood, things only get better. Power comes from a GM Performance ZL1 454 Ram Jet engine, a powerhouse that’s more than capable of turning heads at any show—and burning rubber when asked. It’s matched with custom headers and an exhaust system designed not only for performance but for visual impact, with copper bullet tips and body-matched intake finishes. A 4L80e automatic transmission paired with a 3.73 rearend ensures this classic Cadillac doesn’t just look fast—it moves like it means it.
