The Vision 357 Concept as a special gift for Porsche's 75th Anniversary
Study Design As we already know, the well-known German automotive manufacturer Porsche AG. on June 4th, 2023 will celebrate its 75th Anniversary, since it was first founded by Dr. Ferdinand Porsche in 1948 then, which was marked by the first production model of Porsche 356/1 Roadster.

And reportedly, to commemorate the Porsche' 75th Anniversary, on earlier this year the Stuttgart-based automaker has announced will launch a concept car called the Porsche Vision 357, and at the same time this concept car was also presented as a homage for the legendary model Porsche 356/1 Roadster.

As quoted from Autoblog, Vice President of Style Porsche Michael Mauer said on January 27th, 2023, that's an attempt to combine past, present and future with coherence by presenting it in proportion to remind us of historical archetypes and details that visualize future prospects.

As we can see from the exterior appearance which looks very sleek, this Porsche Vision 357 also has the lower body elements removed behind the wheels to allow for ventilation function. The trunk lid is inspired by Porsche motorsport body panels, with the door and window frames are made of natural fiber-reinforced plastic similar to conventional carbon fiber.

At the front and rear, Porsche has deliberately hidden the lights behind perforations of the body panels while integrating the third brake light into the rear grille motif, which is also one of design cues taken from the original 356/1 Roadster.

Then there are other uniqueness, such as the absence of door handles, which in fact are deliberately placed by the Vision 357' designers on the rear-side glass. Then the rearview mirror which is usually installed on the side (of the cars in general) is also absent, and is replaced by a camera.

Although this concept car is said to be heavily inspired by the legendary 356/1 Roadster, not all of its styles have been adopted. This can be seen in the Vision 357 not having a split in half windshield like the one in its inspiration source. Instead Porsche used with the concept glass by wrapping it around the black-colored A-pillars to unite the three window elements into one piece and resemble a helmet visor.

The Bavarian automaker then finished the exterior with a two-tone paint scheme adopted from the legendary Porsche colors of the 1950s, namely Ice Gray Metallic which covered most of the car and Grivola Gray Metallic which accented the front bumper.

It was then embellished by large "75" stickers adorning the doors and hood, while subtle "357" stickers were on the front fenders and rear fascia. Not only that, the German automaker even marked the air intakes on the rear side windows with an "Air" sticker and an arrow pointing to the inlet.

Meanwhile, on the legs, Porsche installed 20-inch magnesium wheels made of carbon fiber hubcaps that are "aerodynamically advantageous" in its four corners. These are also deliberately made to resemble the tires used on the Porsche 356 A and 356 B models.

As quoted from Motor1, the Porsche Vision 357 is a design study concept built on the 718 Cayman GT4 RS platform, while also adopting its powertrain, namely a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six rear-mounted engine. In theory, this engine should produce around 493 horsepower (362 kilowatts). Furthermore, Porsche also equipped the Vision 357 with a bluish titanium exhaust system with a ceramic interior.

Still related to the engine, the German automaker company said it would design a mid-mounted powertrain to accommodate synthetic fuels, but this in no way indicated that the German manufacturer had plans to produce the car, because indeed the Porsche Vision 357 is still limited to a concept car.
