Meet the bizarre 1970 Firebird One Concept

Weird ONES Basically, we love to look at uniquely shaped vehicles while surfing the web for mostly useless two reasons, namely to drool over ones we could never afford it, and to uncover insanely weird vehicles we have never seen before. Well, the unique vehicle found this time falls into the latter category.

So once upon a time, we stopped by at the GM Authority sites, and found this unique shaped Firebird Concept Car which said as one of the items on listed for auction by Hemmings for $94,950. It is explained, the car was a 1970 Pontiac Firebird ONE Concept designed by Harry Bentley Bradley and turned it over to Dave Crook to build.

It is also stated that this vehicle has a letter of documentation from GM design staff as a complement to prove its authenticity. If you then ask, why did this unique wedge-shaped Firebird concept come with an official certification from GM? It turns out that Bradley was actually a designer who had worked at GM from 1962 to 1966.

He left his post at one of the American auto giants to work for Mattel Inc. later was known as one of the first designers to design vehicle models for the then-expanding Hot Wheels lines. However, Bradley left Mattel one year later to start his own company, and didn't ever think the toy car market would be successful. He even designed the weird famous Oscar Meyer Wienermobile in 1993.

It is further stated that this particular concept car with an odometer of 17,456 miles is a Pontiac show car that is built based on the basis of the 2nd generation Firebird is powered by a 350 cubic inch V8 engine capable of producing up to 255 hp, and coupled with a Turbo Hydra-Matic 350 Automatic.

As quoted from Barret-Jackson, the car's design theme combines the look of speed with the elegance of three dimensional form. The dramatically dropped beltline visually lowers the car while the bold rear wheel forms suggest sheer power and energy. However the car had very limited auto show exposure because it was completed just as the industry was refocusing its attention from style and performance to fuel economy and safety mandates.

As quoted by GM Authority, from all implied before we can only assume that sometime around 1969 or 1970, GM turned to Bradley to help create a "vivid glimpse into the future of Firebird".
