Developed by DS Performance, the division responsible for the brand's successful Formula E racing cars, this vehicle benefits from cutting-edge technology and expertise that have led the team to multiple championships.

Central to the DS E-Tense Performance is its carbon monocoque structure, a hallmark of lightweight strength. This advanced design is paired with a powerful 600 kW dual electric motor system, delivering power to all four wheels. What sets this vehicle apart is its innovative integration of the chassis, power source, and battery, all packaged together to form a cohesive unit that pushes the boundaries of electric vehicle engineering.

Thomas Chevaucher, DS Performance Director, emphasized the importance of this concept in bridging their racing success with future road cars. According to him, the DS E-Tense Performance acts as a "laboratory" for testing and refining components that will eventually make their way into production models. This approach ensures that the lessons learned on the track can be applied to create high-performance electric vehicles that are both cost-effective and scalable.

The DS E-Tense Performance is designed with a focus on superior handling and performance, evident in its specialized suspension geometry. This feature allows the car to navigate sharp turns and maneuvers with precision, a necessity for a sports coupe of its caliber. The two electric motors play distinct roles: the front motor delivers 250 kW (335 hp), while the rear motor generates a substantial 350 kW (469 hp). Together, they produce a staggering torque of 8,000 Nm at the wheels, a significant leap from the earlier DS E-Tense concept.

Interestingly, this car does away with traditional braking systems, relying solely on regenerative braking technology. This not only reduces weight but also enhances energy efficiency by converting kinetic energy back into stored power. The result is a vehicle that not only accelerates rapidly but also decelerates smoothly, all while maximizing energy use.

The battery is another highlight of the DS E-Tense Performance. Developed in collaboration with TotalEnergies and its subsidiary Saft, the high-voltage battery is encased in a carbon-aluminum composite. Positioned centrally at the rear of the car, it ensures optimal weight distribution, contributing to the car's impressive acceleration capabilities—going from 0 to 100 kph in just two seconds. The battery's cooling system, utilizing Quartz EV Fluid, is designed to maintain optimal performance under extreme conditions.

Visually, the DS E-Tense Performance is a feast for the eyes. Its exterior features a unique LED circuit with 800 light arrangements, creating a striking visual signature on the road. The car's color-changing beetle-effect paint further enhances its aesthetic appeal, offering different hues depending on the viewing angle, while maintaining a glossy black finish. Complementing this is the set of specially designed 21-inch rims that not only add to the car's looks but also enhance its aerodynamic performance.
