Seeing the Blackberry electric motorcycle

Along with the rapid development of technologies that occurs today. Almost no gaps escaped the touch of progress. For example, in the automotive industry can be seen a lot of technological advancements in this sector. So no wonder that invites many other sector business players who want to participate in the development of automotive products.

This can be seen in the CES 2020 event held in Las Vegas recently, and one of them is in the exciting electric motorcycle product that was launched by Damon Motorcycle. Maybe some of the world's automotive enthusiasts do not know those motorcycle brands. Yes, Damon Motorcycle is a Canadian motorcycle manufacturer based in Vancouver.

Might be this Canadian motorcycle company is a new player in the zero-emissions motorcycle industry that had just launched one motorcycle product, so it might be hard for them to compete with other known brands such as the Harley-Davidson brand which had produced electric motorbikes named LiveWire.

But it seems Damon Motorcycle still has a chance in the world's zero-emissions motorcycle market competition if seen its collaboration with Blackberry in order to realize its first electric-powered motorcycle product called Hypersport Pro which is pinned by BlackBerry's QNX system and various advanced features like a smartphone.

For information, the BlackBerry brand was originally under the company Research In Motion (RIM) and mastered the world smartphone market until the early decades of the 2000s. But after experiencing setbacks and from the remnants of RIM, BlackBerry Mobile was born as a company that focuses on the production of android and was acquired by a Chinese company, TCL Communication.

The QNX system functions to monitor traffic around motorbikes. The system created by both parties is called the CoPilot system that can give a collision detection or early warning system for the rider. The system was also combining radar, 1080p 360 degree camera, non-visual sensor, and telematics array. The camera and some sophisticated sensors can read the situation near the motorcycle.

All of those inputs can appear through the head-up display (HUD) on the rider's helmet or the motorcycle's panel display and at the same time, besides the system will alert the rider to the danger via handlebar vibrations (haptic warnings) and illuminated warning lights to prevent a possible accident.
Furthermore, according to Jay Giraud, the Damon Motorcycle CEO, "When you look at the forensics of (motorcycle) accidents in North America, Europe, and Asia, we overlapped all of the data to find that the common parallels. We saw that three-quarters of all motorcycle accidents occur in intersections, and two-thirds of the accidents are caused by drivers. Even though non-motorcyclists like to blame motorcyclists for speed or being crazy, riders are pretty tame, well-behaved people. We're just not seen."
On this motorbike is attached the battery with a capacity of 20 kW and cruising capability reaches 482 km. And the company claimed the motorcycle has the power up to 150 kW or equivalent to 200 horsepower. And the top speed of this eco-friendly sport motorbike reaches 321 kph. And reportedly, besides being produced in limited numbers, the company also will be sold the motorcycle at a price of around the US. $40,000 or around Rp.551 million.
