The emergence of the figure of big electric motorcycles from Harley-Davidson (HD) recently which we know is Livewire, apparently this then raises the fact that perhaps not widely known by the public.

The fact is HD've had a prototype electric motorcycle called 'Transitron'. This electric motorcycle is the fruit of thought of the 1949 HD Hydra-Glide designer named Brooks Steven. In 1978, he built a big electric motorbike taken base of the HD Sportster of his own.

These potorcycle prototype is equipped with power source of 24 Volt, 95 Amp Baldor electric motor was linked via a primary drive belt to a four-speed automatic chain final drive transmission.

This bike is capable of driving up to a maximum speed of about 50 mph (80.47 kph) and was able to drive about six hours on a single recharge of its four deep-cycle lead-acid batteries. For its own weight carrying about 285 kg or more weighing about 75 kg compared to HD Livewire, and could only manage a 0-30 mph (48.28 mph) time of 6 seconds.
