The luxurious American muscle car

While the big American automakers continue to battle for market share in the muscle car segment. A Detroit-based Equus Automotive has unveiled the custom-built Bass 770, as new reference in the international luxury automobile class as a brand-new muscle car bringing together the best of the 21st century American technological savoir-faire.

The retro style of this car design was inspired by the Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, Plymouth Road Runner and other American muscle cars. Under the hood lies a 6.2-liter supercharged aluminum-block V-8 that can sprayed 640-horsepower and 819 Nm of torque. Beneath the skin is a tube-and-tub aluminum chassis that looks more like a race car than a production car. That skin is formed of aluminum, and lined with carbon fiber.

The engine is mated to a six-speed, rear-mounted dual-clutch gearbox handles the shifts along the way and it can take the Bass from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.4 seconds. And also can make you fly to its max speed at 200 mph (364 km/h).

Unlike the inspirational cars that the Bass 770 plays homage to, the handcrafted interior of this car isn't what you'd call bare-bones. It's saturated in black leather with more that a hint of chrome and the retro steering wheel sits proudly next to the console mounted touch screen.

Equus has used an aluminum chassis to keep weight down and performance figures up. The Bass 770 tips the scales at a hefty 3,640 lb. (1,650 kg). A 'superformed aluminum body' with carbon fiber inners is in place to enhance structural rigidity and strength. The muscle car rolls on big 255/40 ZR19 tires up front and 285/40 ZR19’s on the back and decaleration comes via Brembo brake calipers and carbon ceramic discs.

The Equus Bass 770 should handle well, too, thanks not only to the rigid chassis and lightweight body, but also due to the Magnetic Selective Ride Control dampers, the Performance Traction Management, and Active Handling System with traction control and variable-ratio power steering are noted as standard on the Bass 770.
