What would happens if the Comet Swift-Tuttle hit Our Earth?

The shooting star might be the thing that you admire as a kid, but the sky phenomenon has also become a strong warning that the Earth is not alone in the space, and the number of the space objects could become a hazard.

In 1973, based on the orbit calculation of the object using limited observations, an astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics named Brian Marsden predicted that the Swift-Tuttle comet will hit the Earth in the year of 2126. However, these dire predictions ultimately did not happen, but what if the comet really hit the Earth?

"We must make it clear that it will not happen," said Donald Yeomans, a senior researcher at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, and author of "Near-Earth Objects: Finding Them Before They Find Us" (Princeton University Press, 2012), as told to Live Science.

When the comet was last seen in 1992, Yeomans was making revisions models of comet movement, making complicated calculations to measure the gravitational effects of the sun and planets on the object space rocks.

Of sightings in 1992, plus the data from 1862 and 1737, showed that astronomers have enough information to find the possibility of a collision in 2126. Keep in mind, Comet Swift-Tuttle instead of the usual space rock.
Such as the Perseid meteor shower, which appeared annual in mid-August occurs when the Earth passed by a trail of debris left by comet Swift-Tuttle. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1cbkRN)
Comet Swift-Tuttle is the greatest objects that cross the Earth, said Yeomans. The object is within 16 miles, and across the Earth every 130 years, and moving at a speed of 36 miles per second or 56 km/s.
The Comet Swift-Tuttle, the comet was discovered by Lewis Swift on July 16 and then a few days later by Horace Parnell Tuttle on July 19, 1862. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1cblBO)
If the comet crashing into planet, the impact energy was approximately 300 times of the asteroid hit the Earth, causing the destruction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. "That would be the worst days for the Earth," he said further.

But the size of the comets or asteroids not be the only thing responsible for cosmic collisions, said Gerta Keller, a geographers at the Princeton University.

The fall of the comet to land or sea may cause destruction in the surrounding area, but the real devastation comes from the gas in the stratosphere, part of the Earth's atmosphere where the ozone layer is located. Sulfur dioxide causes cooling, heat and carbon dioxide causes long term heating, added Keller. This led to drastic climate change and brings mass extinction worldwide.

Keller also explained that most of the Earth  is ocean. Effects caused able to impact on the deep sea, such as the eruption of underwater volcanoes.

Based on the Scientists calculation, the arrival of the comet Swift-Tuttle to the Earth on August 5, 2126, within a distance of 14 million miles, equivalent to 60 times the distance of Earth to the Moon. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE]

Ducati Origami Camo Special

Not only in Indonesia are overrun by modification motorcycles. In Europe too, but creations of the modifier artists in there admirable. By using the base of big motorbike, the modified results often can turn motorcycle display into extreme. One is a modified Ducati Desmosedici RR as follow.

Viewed as a whole, a modified version of the Ducati bike more like a folded paper. It is one of the creations of a British modification workshop named Death Spray Customs which uses a base of Ducati Desmosedici RR.

They called the modification result as the concept of 'origami camo' because it similar with the famous Japanese paper folding arts. Do you know? although the surface of the motorcycle (cursory) look like the motorcycle with complicated indentations, but in fact the motorcycle's body actually still intact and use the original fairing of Ducati.

The modification artists uses painting techniques are very complicated and detailed what they call the three-dimensional technique. As a result, the curve of the body looks very striking. But when viewed up close it was discovered that the notch visual effects only the deceptive vision alone. It very unique, creative and cool isn't!

The RP1 is trying to beat the Bugatti Veyron acceleration

While the Bugatti Chiron has not been formally demonstrated its performance and made the Veyron still as the car with fastest acceleration. The status want to be captured by Elemental RP1, or at least equaled.

The British track day roofless cars were determined to conquer acceleration 0-100 km/h belongs to the Veyron, which can be done in 2.9 seconds. As we all knew, the Veyron uses a W16 8.0-liter quad-turbo engine, while the RP1 with 2.0-liter EcoBoost from Ford.

Elemental had an opportunity to test the ability of RP1, with a record of acceleration 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds, while the target is 2.5 seconds. As said by Elemental, that testing in conditions not ideal took place on the Longcross test tracks, Surrey, England.

"We do not have professional drivers, the tires were worn and dirty running surface," said John Begley, technical director of Elemental.

"Data shows that the car can still be much better, but to be honest we did not make up time on the straights track," he said further.

Achievement of acceleration at 2.7 seconds was achieved thanks to the bursts of power from the engine of 280 hp, as well as supported by Launch Control system, as the development results of the Elemental its own. The Elemental RP1 has a weighs of 750 kg, the result of the application of innovative carbon fiber and aluminum in the chassis.

"Glad to know we are blusterous, but our focus is on developing a fun car to be driven," said Begley.
When viewed in terms of price between the RP1 and the Veyron was inversely away, where the RP1 is sold for less than £100,000 (Rp. 1.730 billion) while the Veyron reaches around £850,000 (Rp. 14.702 billion) before taxes and has recently been replaced by the £2 million Chiron (Rp. 34.6 billion). *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCESELEMENTALAUTOCAR]

'Glow in The Dark' cement will change the Construction World globally

Concrete never be a material that can amplifies the building because the function only enhance the building alone. However, the conditions would change immediately after a Mexican scientist named Jose Carlos Rubio Avalos find the 'Glow in The Dark' cement.

Cement is a major component forming the concrete will be able to beautify the city landscape at night from Shanghai to Seoul. Cement is made of energy-efficient material that can absorb the sunlight and begins to emit the light when the night comes.

"This cement can be applied in the use of exterior and interior of the building," said Rubio Avalos who is also a researcher at the University Michoacana de San Nicolas de Hidalgo, Mexico.

As we all knew, cements are the millions of dollars industry and in 2014 ago, the global consumption of these materials exceeded 4.3 billion tons. Now, the discovery of Rubio Avalos believed to be able to change the existing cement industry. He also received many requests related his inventions, ranging from government, the business community, to the non-governmental organization (NGO).

Various requests that would be used for the manufacture of home applications, bike paths, highways, interior, and even a swimming pool. For examples, one NGO named Doctor Without Borders wants to apply the glow in the dark cement in a public bathroom frequently in trouble with the lighting system and also in order to make women feel safe when entering a public restroom.

The cement manufacturing process begins by mixing the powder with water and once solidified gel, the cement sign in the form of crystalline flake. The flakes are part of the cement that is not necessary. Rubio Avalos then find a way to change the microstructure of cement which makes the flakes do not appear.

As a result, the cement without the crystalline flakes can absorb solar energy and emits the light when the night comes. According to him, the light-emitting product from the cement could last for 100 years and shines for 12 hours at night.

"Some people then say that this is a completely new material," he said.

The color produced far is merely a blue sea and green light, but Rubio Avalos is trying to make the cement with the color of red, white, and purple. Now, he is also trying to build a factory capable of producing cement is expected within three to five months. However, all it will cost big money.

"If we want commercialized and met all the demand from Europe, America, Africa, and Asia so we need around US. $5-6 million," he said further. The high cost of funds due to the complex structure owned by the cement and according to Rubio Avalos, his invention is five times more expensive than ordinary cement manufacture.

Nevertheless, the overall structure should not use this cement. Rubio Avalos said they just simply coated out layers only. However, it did not cover the high cost of the use of cement.

"Every single square meter which may be 3 millimeters thick would cost about US. $60 to $70 (Rp.780,000 - Rp.910,000)," said Rubio Avalos. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | CNN]

Here's would be like, if the Tractor changed into F1 racing car

The idea of creations in the automotive field can come from many aspects of life, it seems to have been done by an automotive designer site named Yasid Design who creates an unexpected digital manifestation of an old tractor into the Formula One (F1) racing car.

Yes, it does look crazy - in the world's digital image engineering today almost all the wild ideas that can be realized in 3D images. Like Yasid who took an initial model of 1951 Farmall 'Super C' tracktor which is then transformed into the figure of F1 racing car.

Let's us traced the origin of the creation of 3D images, initially a complete picture we can see that the project refers to the figure of 1930s Ford hotrod - very typical with the engine cross section left open without the cover.

Then to its aerodynamics detail, which is a combination of the F1 car's exterior with Honda S2000 powertrain. Unfortunately, the car's interior appearance has not been visualized in detail, as it is shown here is the exterior only.

Yasid himself explained that this crazy idea come from after he saw Lamborghini which has a history of company's birth by producing the agricultural vehicles like this. So he thought why not to make it happen in different forms. (Wanna see another creations of Yasid Design.*** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | YASIDDESIGN]
