Two giant planets lurking behind Pluto

According to a study titled "Extreme Trans-Neptunian Objects" (ETNOs), which published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society Letters, at least two planets with a size larger than Earth, thought to be hiding in our solar system, precisely behind Pluto.

Planet X and Planet Y, so the two giants was named were the two of 13 extreme objects beyond Neptune's orbit trajectory. If these findings can be verified, it will change the general knowledge about our solar system that says there is no other planet beyond Neptune.
Astronomers in Spain believe Pluto (pictured) has yet another unusual feature - the world may be harbouring two supersized planets just out of reach of our telescopes. Researchers at the Complutense University of Madrid have found some strange patterns in the rocky objects around Pluto. (Picture from: http://adf.ly/1XORZX)
Research held by the astronomers at the University of Cambridge and the University of Madrid were finding that the orbit of the object is different from the dozens of theories about the planet's orbit known so far.

"The exact number we do not know, because of the very limited data, but our calculations show that there are at least two planets, and probably more, within our solar system," said Carlos de la Fuente Marcos, a scientist from the University of Madrid, which is engaged in that research.

According to the theory, the objects were supposed have a distance just 150 astronomical units from the Sun and the tilt of 0 degrees. The Earth's distance from the Sun is equal to 1 astronomical unit.
But two objects suspected as the planet estimated have a distance of 200 astronomical units from the Sun and have a size 10 times larger than the planet on which we live. However the researchers say more research is needed to confirm the presence of the two bodies suspected as the planets. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | SCIENCE]

Is there the Thorium-powered car out there?

Back in 2009, Loren Kulesus, a very imaginative digital designer came up with a very strange looking concept called the Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept. While its exterior dimensions were certainly notable, it's the stuff that powered it that really made waves or lasers, rather.

The power source is a mildly radioactive metal, and one of the most dense materials known in nature, called 'Thorium'. The scientists assure that thorium is a very weak radioactive element – it produces 10 to 10 thousand times less long-lived radioactive waste. And besides, thorium will cost many times less than uranium and is much more qualitative source of energy.

The thorium would be used to power a laser, which would then heats water, generates steam and rotates the mini-turbine. Such a system is capable to produce 250 kW of energy, which is equivalent to 355 hp. The prototype of such an engine weighing about 200 kilograms freely fit under the hood of a conventional car

While some laughed at the concept (Top Gear even called it the Cadillac WTF Concept), a few others took Kulesus' idea quite seriously, specifically Laser Power Systems (LPS) from Connecticut.

LPS has created its own thorium engine, which, according to Industrytrap, weighs around 500 pounds and could power a car for 100 years on only eight grams of thorium, thereby supplanting more than 7,396 gallons of gasoline over a century. And that’s just in one vehicle.

Just like the Cadillac World Thorium Fuel Concept, LPS engine isn’t quite ready for a road trip. The company has reportedly been prepping prototypes since 2011. To our knowledge, however, no actual thorium-powered car has hit the road yet.

We're quite intrigued by the technology, though, so we'll be sure to stay on top of it. Be sure to check back for updates, albeit every few years. Or, soon it will be come in your dream. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LASER POINT SYSTEM | DIGITAL TRENDS]

This is guaranteed, your eyes are not deceiving you or photoshopped neither. Simon Whitlock has created a custom 48-cylinder, 4,200 cc two-stroke motorcycle by bolting a bunch of engine parts together named the 'Tinker Toy'. This bike holds the Guinness World Record for the most cylinders on a land vehicle.

This insane bike is made from a series of engines pulled from Kawasaki S1/KH250’s and boasts of a total displacement of 4,200 cubic centimeters, and has six, inline-eight engines.

All these inline-eight engines come with their own crankshaft and are tied together with gears and run through a BMW transmission, as the bike is pretty long already it would be difficult to put a transverse drive thru a gearbox. This unique motorcycle has a small 75 cc tiny engine under the seat to start it and the ignition is by 6 x 8cyl E-Type Jaguar distributers.

It has taken almost three years of hard work and he has overcome some huge problems to get here. Oh, by the way, Simon is not an engineer.
And the unique shaped motorcycle not only can run, but it is rideable. Just! The engine and box alone weight just over a ton! *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LUXURY LAUNCHES | VISORDOWN]

Jana Jones from Macquarie University, said that the Tarkhan dress was accidentally buried with the person wearing it. In addition to dresses, cosmetics and clothes are also buried.

"I am glad to read that the Tarkhan dress had been determined its age with radiocarbon dating and that science has put it in the best position as the world's oldest dress," Jones said as quoted by the National Geographic on Thursday, February 18, 2016. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | UCL NEWS | NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC]
