8 Most unique & beautiful Racing Cars ever made (Part-2)

Racing cars produced by one goal is to win the race. Therefore, all other features are usually made only to support these objectives. In fact, sometimes the designers of racing cars are undermining the aesthetic aspect.

The car aesthetics is usually not considered in the race car. But not so with the following 8 racing cars. It can be said these cars represent a combination of speed to win the race with the car's aesthetics. So not infrequently these cars also have a shape that is quite unique and beautiful.

Here are the 2nd part of 8 beautiful and unique racing cars as quoted of Gearheads on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

4. 1967 Ferrari 330 P4
Often mentioned as the most beautiful race car ever built, the Ferrari 330 P4 carried a 4.0 liter V-12 engine, with three valves per cylinder, which produced 450 horsepower. The 330 P4 was part of a one-two-three Ferrari sweep at the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, defeating the team of 7.0 liter Ford GT40s.

3. 1977 Porsche 936
This unique and beautiful racing car only produced 3 units with different chassis. The whole cars of Porsche 936 has been won the Le Mans championship within 5 years.

As shown in the photograph, the uniqueness of this car is the rear wing specially developed by an aerospace company. When viewed in reverse, then the tip of the wing is not much different from the tip of a modern aircraft.

2. 1981 Zakspeed Ford Capri
Where many of our other candidates have been smooth or swoopy, the Zakspeed Capri draws its beauty from its aggressiveness. Built on a full-frame tube chassis, the car competed in Group 5 racing in Europe. While 600 horsepower was the stated output of the turbocharged Ford motor, some put it closer to 750 horsepower.

1. 2008 Mazda Furai
Here’s a riddle for you. Does a race car have to race to be considered a race car? Mazda built the Furai concept on top of its fully- operational Le Mans prototype car chassis, but never raced it.

Shape-Shifting Frogs discovered In Ecuador

Scientists discover new species of amazing frogs that such a frog that can be changed by changing the texture of the skin. Scientists hypothesis, the useful ability to protect themselves from predators.
Scientists have discovered a frog in Ecuador that can rapidly change its skin patterns to mimic the texture it sits on. Spotted in the western Andean cloud forest, the creature is believed to be the first known amphibian to have this shape-shifting capability. (Picture from: http://dailym.ai/1It2XxZ)
Katherin Krynak, doctoral student at Case Western Reserve University, and her husband, Tim Krynak, project manager at Cleveland Metroparks Natural Resources Division, they first encountered the frog was in 2006 at the Reserva Las Gralarias in Ecuador. When first encountered, the frog looks as thorn-skinned animal because its surface is filled structure similar sharp thorns. Katherine itself dub the frog as "punk rocker".
The new species, called Pristimantis mutabilis - or mutable rainfrog - was discovered by a Case Western Reserve University PhD student and her husband at Reserva Las Gralarias. This image shows how the frog changes from spiky to almost smooth in just over 300 seconds. (Picture from: http://dailym.ai/1It2XxZ)
The next day, when Katherine collect and put the frog in a plastic container, the frog skins were changed so that apparently changed becomes smooth like plastic surface. "I then put the frogs back in the glass and add the moss. Suddenly 'thorn' re-appears, I can not believe that frog changes skin texture. I put frogs in a smooth surface and the skin becomes smoother," said Katherine.

Over the next three years, a team of biologists studying the frog species. As reported on Monday, March 23, 2015, biologists reveal that the frog can change the texture of the skin in less than 3 minutes. They also studied the frog’s calls, finding three songs the species uses, which differentiate them from relatives. Katherine and Tim stated that the frog is a new species. They called the Mutable rainfrog (Pristimantis mutabilis). Publication will soon be published in the Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society.

Surprisingly, P. mutabilis was not alone. their close relatives, Pristimantis sobetes it also has the ability to change form. In addition, team members Dr Juan Guayasamin of Universidad Tecnológica Indoamérica and Dr Carl Hutter  of the University of Kansas discovered that Pristimantis sobetes – a previously known species of frog with similar markings but about twice the size of Pristimantis mutabilis – has the same trait when they placed a spiny specimen on a sheet and watched its skin turn smooth.

Not yet known whether other species of the genus Pristimantis also have the same capability. In the future, scientists will continue to examine the types of frogs. They will look at the behavior, life cycle, and other biological characteristics, in addition to thoroughly examine the genus Pristimantis. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL]

Human feces contains precious metals

Not only the spermwhale poop was precious, but it turns the human feces also contain precious metals, that's what researchers said recently.

Scientists says that the human
feces contains precious metals.

A number of US scientists working to find a way to pan for gold and other precious metals contained in human feces. The exposure of these efforts put forward a group of the US Geological Survey (USGS) researchers at the 249th national meeting of American Chemical Society (ACS) in Denver, Colorado.

According to Dr. Kathleen Smith, as one of the leaders of the research team, precious metals in sewage treatment centers and dirt so the potential for fed though a bit. "The content of gold which we found at a minimal level," said Smith.

In addition to gold and silver, the team found other rare metals in human feces, such as palladium and vanadium. Scientists experimenting with using a chemical called leachate. The substances commonly used in mining projects to gain metal from rock layers.
Previous research suggested the waste from one million Americans could contain as much as $13m worth of metals. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/19jEO08)
Although leachate had a bad reputation for being able to damage the ecosystem when leaked or spilled into the environment, Smith said, the substance was safe to wash the metal of solid waste in a manner that can be controlled and monitored.

"We are interested in getting precious metals that can be sold, including vanadium and copper. The metals that are used in mobile phones and computers," said Smith.

Smith and her colleagues predict that the seven tons of solid waste processing in the US. waste processing facilities every year. About half of that amount is used as agricultural fertilizer and forest. The other half is burned or sent to landfill.

If the study of Smith and his colleagues was a success, no longer solid waste disposed of in vain. Moreover, in a previous study, a group of other scientists calculate that the sewage from one million Americans most likely to contain metals worth U.S. $13 million.

If the attempt is successful, will you store the your feces as an investment in the future? *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | BBC]

The Carolina butcher is the ancestor of Crocodiles

In 230 million years ago, long before dinosaurs walked on the Earth, has been living a 2.7 meters long horrible monster figure with the razor-sharp teeth. Crocodile-like appearance, but not as members of the order Crocodylidae modern, it stood upright and capable of running with two hind legs.
A life reconstruction of the giant crocodile ancestor (Carnufex carolinensis) that lived some 231 million years ago in what is now North Carolina. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1GuBVVQ)
Predatory creature was named Carnufex carolinensis, also dubbed 'Carolina Butcher'. The ancestors of today's crocodiles are thought to prey on other reptiles and mammals relatives at that time. Scientists named Carnufex - or butcher in Latin as its long skull like a butcher's knife shape.

Also because of sharp teeth, which are used for tearing flesh from their prey bones, says the author of the study, Lindsay Zanno from North Carolina University and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in the report that published in the Scientific Reports journal on March 19, 2015.
From those chunks of bone - including a shattered skull - laser imaging and 3D modeling were used to piece together a best-fit of what Carnufex might have looked like when it was alive. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1EM3Lgl)
"The 'butcher' word seems an effective way to bring it more in mind of people," said Zano, as quoted by LiveScience on Friday, March 20, 2015. The huge creature revealed, not only the initial members Crocodylomorpha - a group that included the modern crocodile and the close relatives, but also underlines the diversity of the top predators in the food chain in the past.

"People probably did not imagine how many different types of predators in the Triassic Period. Also, never thought that turns crocodile existed before the dinosaurs," she added. Initially, Lindsay Zanno and colleagues found the skull, spine, and forearm bone of a creature during excavations at Pekin Formation in Chatham County, North Carolina.

There are sediments that contain a deposit of 231 million years ago, from the time of the end of Triassic period - when the North Carolina area was still part of the supercontinent Pangaea or single continent, with positions that are close to the equator.

"In the vicinity of the equator, there are no dinosaurs at the time," she said. Triassic period earlier than Jurassic Period or 'the Dinosaurs times'. Initially, the experts treat the finding fossils as artifacts sampling, because they have not found dinosaur bones are sought there.

"However, to our knowledge, there are no dinosaurs at the time," said Zanno. She added that the absence of dinosaurs as predatory competitors allow the meat eaters like Carnufex grows into a giant-sized.

After getting a bunch of bones, scientists believe that they discovered the existence of a new creature unfold. Moreover, there is an odd texture on the animal bones - ornaments were also found in modern crocodiles, but nothing on a number of crocodile ancestors thereafter.

Being one of earliest crocodylomorpha and most primitive, Carnufex share some characteristics with other groups of organisms, including cheekbones and shape features are similar theropod teeth - group of meat-eating dinosaurs. Carnufex also had a similar skull features big-headed dinosaur-like reptile called rauisuchidae - a two-level predators in the food chain in Pangaea at the time.

However, the Carnufex 'position' as top predators did not last long. It participated perished in the mass extinction at the end of the Triassic period also eliminate large crocodylomorpha and rauisuchidae. Leaving only a small crocodylomorpha. After that, enter the Jurassic Period, dinosaurs turn replaced Carnufex. And that's not forever. Approximately 135 million years later they became extinct.

"When the theropod dinosaurs grew to giant size, the ancestors of modern crocodiles have a role similar to a fox or wolf this time, with a small body, slender, long-legged (not slither)," said another writer, Susan Drymala, a graduate student at NC State University. "Intrigued by their appearance? Imagine a modern fox, but with a crocodile leather lining instead of fur." *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE]

The adverse impact of smoking on pregnant women

A study for the first time successfully demonstrated the impact of the activity of pregnant women who smoke on the fetus significantly. Studies reveal that the activity of mothers who smoked during pregnancy affects the behavior and development of the fetus.

Nadja Reissland of Durham University observed 20 pregnant women in the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. Four among a number of the mothers who smoked up to 14 cigarettes a day. By using instruments 4D scans, Reissland oversee the fetus development. Scanning is performed to determine the behavior of the fetus at weeks 24, 28, 32, and 36.
A pilot study by Durham University researchers looked at the movements of fetuses at 32 weeks gestation in smokers and non-smokers. The fetus carried by the smoker touches its face and mouth much more, indicating its development is delayed. (Picture from: http://dailym.ai/1Chauz8)
Scientists know that while in the womb, the fetus often to moving their mouth and touching themselves on the face and mouth. Frequency touching themselves wane before the birth. Based on her research published in the Acta Paediatrica journal, Reissland said that the fetus of smoking mothers have a higher frequency in the activities of mouth movements and touch themselves.

Movement of the mouth and touching themselves demonstrate the ability of control over the body, which is becoming increasingly well before the birth. With higher frequencies, the fetus showed lower control capabilities.
Reissland said, this still early stage studies to prove the impact of smoking on the development of the fetal central nervous. "More studies are needed to investigate specific effects, including interactions maternal stress and smoking," she said.

As reported by the Daily Mail on Monday, March 23, 2015, Reissland hope to sensitize women to quit smoking during pregnancy. This research adds another evidence of the adverse effects that occur in fetuses of pregnant women who smoke. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL]
