Discover Cadillac's Remarkable All-Electric SUV: The Escalade IQ

Fancy GREEN - In an exciting move towards electrification, Cadillac, a General Motors subsidiary, has launched its debut full-size all-electric SUV, the Cadillac Escalade IQ, on August 9, 2023. This significant step comes as carmakers globally rush to embrace electric fleets and develop essential charging networks.

This unveiling follows the recent introduction of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, an all-electric mid-size luxury crossover starting at around $60,000, and the Celestiq, an all-electric handcrafted sedan with a base price of $300,000.

The Escalade IQ, priced at $130,000, underscores Cadillac's commitment to an "all-electric future." While concerns about EV charging infrastructure persist, Cadillac remains steadfast in its pursuit of electrification. Industry sources suggest that despite challenges, Cadillac and other companies are determined to advance electric adoption.

In alignment with global trends, General Motors and other automakers are responding to the Biden administration's call for over 50% of new US vehicles to be electric by 2030, with net-zero emissions by 2050. This necessitates a shift away from traditional internal combustion engines.

Scheduled for summer 2024 production, the Escalade IQ is set to hit roads later in the year, marking the third fully electric addition to Cadillac's lineup. Impressively, it's only the first of three electric vehicles to launch in 2023.

Underpinning the Escalade IQ is GM's Ultimum electric vehicle platform, boasting an impressive 450-mile range on a single charge. An innovative feature allows it to gain 100 miles of charge in just 10 minutes, along with vehicle-to-home two-way charging.

Despite appearing spacious, the Escalade IQ is more remarkable in person. Adorned with large 24-inch wheels and 35-inch tires, its length falls between the standard and extended Escalade models. The elegant sloping roofline echoes design cues from Cadillac's electric Lyriq and XT series SUV.

Up front, the Escalade IQ retains its iconic large grille. Interestingly, the grille showcases a welcoming display upon the owner's arrival. At the rear, the electric version features distinct proportions compared to its gasoline counterpart.

The interior is brimming with advanced features for a comfortable driving experience. A standout is the expansive screen stretching across most of the dashboard—a remarkable achievement for a vehicle of this size. This Qualcomm-powered infotainment system, integrated with Google and 5G connectivity, sets a new standard.

The 55-inch diagonal screen is divided into around 66/33 ratios, with the passenger's side polarized by 33 percent to ensure a clear view for the driver. Secondary controls and climate settings are managed via a smaller tablet-style screen called the Command Center, situated below the primary panel. The cabin's appeal is heightened by laser-etched ash wood trim and dynamic ambient lighting with 126 colors. The luxurious seats mimic leather, offering both opulence and sustainability.

The second row offers twin captain's seats and a spacious console. Cadillac's decision to omit a three-seat bench is met with optional Executive Second Row Seating, adding massage functions, 12.6-inch individual screens, a folding tray table, and a rear seat Command Center.
