Fisker electric-powered SUV said to be the Tesla Model Y rival

An American electric vehicle manufacturer, Fisker Inc. began production of its newest electric SUV named Fisker Ocean in 2021 and is expected to be a serious competitor to the Tesla Model Y. 

A glimpse of Fisker Inc. is an automotive company built by Henrik Fisker who is currently serving as CEO of the company. He once tried his luck by building an automotive company in 2013 but was unsuccessful, then re-built the company under the name of Fisker Inc. in 2016.

As quoted from greencarreports.com, the Fisker Ocean is expected to target its EV's prices on the market with the prices under the US. $40,000 or around Rp.560 million. It is counted a little more expensive when compared with the Tesla Model Y, which is priced around Rp. 555 million.

And as the future environmentally friendly car, the production process of this car prioritizes the use of recycled materials. As in the interior, which uses recycled materials, while on the roof, there is a full-length solar cell that adds an average range cover of around 1,600 km per year.

Dimensionally, this five-door SUV with a capacity of 4 to 5 passengers has dimensions like a conventional compact SUV, the overall length being comparable to the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4. Because it is made based on the EV architecture, this SUV offers spacious interior space and has more utility. From the circulating images, the design of the Fisker Ocean looks very futuristic, it thanks to the use of a two-rows panoramic roof with several LED lights on the entire body.

The interior also uses sustainable materials, the cabin is decorated with recycled carpets made from regenerated nylon, there are vegan or non-animal product components made from 100% polyurethane polycarbonate with reinforced Rayon, and Dinamica "eco-suede" made from recycled polyester and specific plastics.

Not only that the company also said that the Ocean also uses used rubber from recycled tires, even though the company did not explain how those materials are applied. Unfortunately, the vehicle's mechanical heart details are still kept secret by the company, although there are those who say that the basic range of 402 km to 482 km can be achieved by adding a range extender device as an option.

The Fisker EV's battery is also expected to be supplied by LG Chem with a capacity of around 80 kWh, while the transmission used will be available in a variant of rear-wheel and all-wheel drives.

Regarding the EV's production and delivery, the latest information shows that the company will begin shipping its finished production units to consumers in early 2022 with the assembling process scheduled to be carried out early in 2021, although Fisker did not mention where the EV will be made.
