LaFerrari final edition auctioned for charity

A few months ago, Ferrari had announced it would auction off the unit hypercar LaFerrari to help reconstruction after the earthquake that shook Italy in August. Now, the auction time has been determined on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

The event organizers are Ferrari itself, RM Sotheby's, as well as the National Italian American Foundation's Earthquake Relief Fund. The auction will be held in conjunction with the Ferrari Finali Mondiali event at Daytona International Circuit, Florida, United States.

Actually, LaFerrari coupe version produced only 499 units. However, to support the reconstruction of areas affected by the earthquake in central Italy, Ferrari add one special unit of LaFerrari and will be auctioned off, so making the numbers of car produced were 500 units.

Ferrari's CEO Sergio Marchionne said on last August, this Ferrari LaFerrari final edition was a special gift from the prancing horse company for Italy. The Ferrari hypercar in question wears the company's traditional Rosso Corsa, but sports white accents down its body and an Italian tricolor on its nose. Ferrari says bespoke interior stylings complement the one-of-a-kind exterior treatment.

"It is an honor for RM Sotheby’s to be entrusted with the sale of this important car and to help raise funds for helping those in the Italian regions struck by devastating earthquakes," said Rob Myers, CEO and Chairman of RM Sotheby's.

As quoted of The Globe and Mail, finally the 500th and final LaFerrari sold at auction Saturday night for US. $7 million (or approx Rp. 90.3 billion) with all of the proceeds going toward helping those in the Italian regions struck by devastating earthquakes this year. 

And this LaFerrari is now crowned as the most expensive 21st-century car ever sold at auction and It is the highest sum for which a LaFerrari has ever sold. The sum had become truly remarkable, especially when compared with its standard version was sold at a priced of US. $1.42 million or approximately Rp.20 billion.
