New species of dinosaur from Wales

A new dinosaur partial skeleton, including the skull and teeth was found on a beach near Cardiff. This fossil is analyzed by a team of British scientists led by Dr. David Martill of the University of Portsmouth. As a result, the dinosaur fossil was identified as a new species of the genus of theropod dinosaurs.

"About 40% of the skeleton (including the remains of the skull and the outside of the skull) represent a new genus and species of dinosaur Neotheropod basal picture," said Dr. Martill and colleagues from Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales, the University of Manchester and University of Portsmouth. They disclose it in a paper in the PLoS ONE journal.

Dr. Martill and coauthors propose the name of 'Dracoraptor hanigani' for this new dinosaur.

"The genus name comes from the Dracoraptor offending Draco the dragon of Wales, plus raptor meaning robber, a common suffix used to theropod dinosaurs," they explained.

"The name of the species in honor of Nick and Rob Hanigan who found the skeleton," added the authors.

According to paleontologists, Dracoraptor hanigani has a small body, an agile carnivorous, with a high about 2.3 feet (70 cm) long and 6.5 feet (2 m), with a long tail too.

Hanigani is a distant cousin of T.rex and lived in the early Jurassic period, about 200 million years ago, possibly making it the oldest Jurassic dinosaurs in the UK or even in the world. This specimen is also the most complete theropod dinosaurs of Wales, and the first dinosaur skeleton of the Jurassic period in Wales.

It is estimated that the dinosaur fossils found are teenagers, because most of the bones are not yet fully formed.

"Now we have Dracoraptor, a juvenile theropod with a length of 6 feet, and relatively complete from the day-to-day very beginning of the Jurassic in Wales." the authors concluded. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | INDEPENDENT]

Victory call the Octane models powered by a liquid-cooled engine with a capacity of 1,200 cc. If observed its designs, many take inspiration from the Combustion motorcycle concept, but have used a longer rear fender. Victory's first liquid-cooled engine model debuted at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, as the Project 156.

After Project 156, this machine is used in two custom motorcycle, one produced by Zach Ness from the Ness family, and the other by Urs Erbacher. Ness machine represents a new Victory platform in the United States, while Erbacher build engines for Europe. In terms of performance, the Spirit Lake, Iowa based motorcycles manufacturer is further asserted that their latest motorcycle has the highest performance in its class.

Victory describes Octane as being "Modern American Muscle," making us believe we're in for a neat powercruiser-ish motorcycle. If anything, Octane could be Victory's answer to the Harley-Davidson V-Rod, the first liquid-cooled beast to actually rival Milwaukee's muscle bike.
The short and enigmatic video teaser only lets us know that Octane will have a minimalist dash with a single gauge. It's hard to tell how it looks but we can expect it to be a hybrid instrument, incorporating a large speedo and an LCD screen showing a lot of adjacent info. Apparently, the Octane will be a serious competitor for Ducati Diavel. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | VICTORY MOTORCYCLES | VISORDOWN | AUTOEVOLUTION]

NEO city car concept comes with asymmetrical approach

In the six years since its foundation, Icona, a studio based in Shanghai, has proven not just that there is an alternative marketplace, but that the traditions of the independent Italian design studio can actually flourish once more – albeit far beyond Turin.
The NEO is the third in a series of design concepts from Icona. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1ScOsXt)
And it coming as the third in a series of design concept from Icona, the NEO "sets out to explore the inspirations and daily challenges of life in a busy metropolis such as Shanghai," says Icona. Shades of Lexus LF-SA in this tiddler, I think, in some of its geometric lines, though it adds an asymmetric door layout (rear-seat passenger access only from the right side, which also lacks a B-pillar).

Anyway, it’s a four-seater, 1.5 m-long EV, designed as such ground-up, featuring a 21 kW in-wheel motor. It weighs just 720 kg in total, and is said to have a range of 150 km during city driving, plus a 120 kph top speed.

This is none too hypothetical, either: NEO has been developed by Icona’s Italian technical partners, Actua and Italtecnica, and it turns out that other divisions in the firm’s Italian parent company worked on development and build of the Bollore Bluecar (of Paris Autolib’, and soon London, EV-share, fame).
The NEO concept debuted at Auto Shanghai in April 2015, but had its European premiere this month in Paris at the Festival Automobile International 2016. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | GIZMAG | CARDESIGNNEWS]
