Hyundai introduces its all-electric '45' concept in Frankfurt

Hyundai Motor Co. launched its electric-powered concept car at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show to strengthen its lineup with environmentally friendly models. The Hyundai '45' concept adopts the next generation of "sporty sensuous" design directions, which are defined by the harmony of four fundamental elements in vehicle design: proportion, architecture, style and technology.

This is the figure of the all-electric Hyundai '45' concept which was revealed as a sign of a new era of Hyundai's automotive design that focuses on electrification, autonomous technology, and intelligent design. The somewhat weird name of the concept actually has a pretty simple explanation.

The design of the all-electric Hyundai '45' concept is the result of a re-imagination of the Hyundai Pony Coupe Concept was on display 45 years ago. Those number represents 45 years since 1974, when the South Korean automaker launched those Pony Coupe Concept at the Torino Motor Show, as reported by Yonhap on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Its iconic character is defined by the monocoque body, aerodynamic and lightweight design inspired by 1920's aircraft. The name of the car also implies a 45 degree angle on the front and rear, forming a diamond-shaped silhouette.

"As an icon of Hyundai '45' concept clearly shows how the company is heading for the future through its heritage," said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of the Hyundai Design Center.

"Through the '45' built on our design language 'Sensuous Sportiness', Hyundai wants to present our vision of how we want to reshape the lifestyle in people's cars in the era of electrification and autonomous driving."

The interior is inspired by furniture design today. The minimalist cabin is complemented by a blend of wood, fabric and leather which creates a warm, relaxed and spacious atmosphere.
Other innovations in the form where the front passengers can interact with the infotainment system through the projection-beam interface.
