Audi stunned Frankfurt auto expo with an autonomous offroad EV

Perhaps you are an offroad vehicles fan who would like to know the figure of offroad vehicles in the future. Well, might be this's a good news for you. Apparently amid the high enthusiasm of the world-famous automotive manufacturer on electric vehicles also touched the offroad vehicle segment.

At one of the world's automotive expos: the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, Audi presented an offroad electric-powered vehicle concept named the Audi AI: TRAIL. The offroad EV concept already combines an autonomous driving system with extraordinary capabilities on various challenging terrains.

Through this concept, Audi wants to preview some of the design changes they have in mind for their future SUV models. The Ingolstadt-based auto manufacturer developed the AI: TRAIL with a broad perspective for passengers while in the cabin to enjoy the atmosphere and make it easier to monitor the terrain to be traversed.

"Presenting the AI: TRAIL, we want to show the offroad vehicle concept with electric drive without emissions for an innovative driving experience away from the highway," said Audi Head of Design, Marc Lichte. As quoted of Carscoops, on Thursday, September 11, 2019, this concept car was the fourth member of the Audi AI concept series, which began with the Aicon concept back in 2017.

This Audi concept car has a lightweight but rigid body structure thanks to a blend of high-tech steel material, aluminum and carbon fiber with a total weight of only 1,750 kg.

And the German company give visibility that offers passengers a broad viewing through the transponder glass, both front and sides. In the interior, the dashboard is free from any display. They only pinned a smartphone as an indicator panel and control center of the vehicle navigation system.
This Audi concept car embeds four electric motors that are assigned to drive all the wheels with combined output power reaching up to 429 horsepower (435 ps) and torque of 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm). This concept car has also been integrated with an autonomous technology and typical Audi Quattro vehicles with four-wheel drive.

Unfortunately until now, Audi has not revealed the capacity of the battery pack yet. They only say the car can travel as far as 248-310 miles (400-500 km) on a paved road or 155 miles (250 km) on rough roads.
