Chrysler's futuristic electric minivan for the millennial generation

Back in 2017, an American automotive company, Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) introduced the figure of a future electric car concept named Chrysler Portal Concept at the 2017 CES in Las Vegas. These smart and environmentally friendly vehicle made in a minivan model for six-passengers.

The vehicle itself is designed like most passenger cars, but Chrysler engineers say that the Portal Concept was developed to meet aggressive consumer needs, meaning always moving from one point to another. Therefore, to support the needs of its owners, the FCA stores a lightweight compact battery that can reach a distance of 250 miles or 402 km with a single battery charges.

If you rely on DC Fast Charge with the power of 350 kW, it can be done in less than 20 minutes and the battery is charged up to 50 percent. This condition makes it possible to drive a car as far as 150 miles or 241 km.

The matter of exterior design has been thought of first by the manufacturer. An example, they offer the design of an aerodynamic front grille, with a glass roof to create an impression of relief in the interior. The headlights and taillights of this concept car already use LED technology.

Chrysler Portal Concept is made for millennial generations who are very concerned with lifestyle. Actually, in its first concept it uses suicide door-types, but then modified by displaying an electric double sliding doors. So makes the passengers able to access the second and third row seats easiy.

"Chrysler Portal Concept attracts the lifestyle of millennial people. The interior can accommodate six passengers and is very easy to transform into a family car," said Ralph Gilles, Fiat Chrysler head of design.

Once enter into its cabin and seeing the interior, perhaps you do not believe if the car's steering wheel was designed can be folded, due to this car already pinned Level-3 autonomous technology by the automaker. Conversely, the steering wheel will come out automatically when the autonomous driving mode is not-active/off.

To support the manufacture of autonomous cars, the FCA installs Vehicle-to-X (V2X) technology such as a number of sensors, cameras in front, side and rear of the car. In addition, the car sharing technology is also available.
