Maybe some of you have never heard of ATS. Yes, that is the short name of an Italian automotive company that has the full name 'Automobili Tourismo e-Sport.' The company was founded by two former employees of Ferrari named Carlo Chiti and Giotto Bizzarrini in 1961. Initially, ATS was formed to 'beat' Ferrari in the sports car segment, and they also developed their own race car to challenge Ferrari in the F-1 racing event at that time.

And at the peak, on the 1963 Paris Motor Show they introduced the ATS 2500 GT which quickly gained public attention because it became the first Italian mid-engined supercar that came three years before Lamborghini Miura. However, this project did not last long, and recorded only 12 units of 2500 GT were made by them before the company closed in 1964.

And now after a long sleep, ATS re-emerged as an automotive manufacturer with a big idea for the future, It can be see through their latest creation, named ATS GT, as well as a tribute form for ATS 2500 GT as a phenomenal car they have ever made in the past. Similar with its predecessor, the ATS GT is also produced in limited numbers of 12 units only, where each unit can be individually adjusted for each owner.

The overall design is inspired by the 1963 2500 GTS. The GT was penned by ATS designer Emanuele Bomboi, who was formerly senior designer at Fiat and style co-ordinator at design house Bertone. ATS seems to have succeeded in convincing the automotive world, that by applying an 'extensively' carbon features in the car, to the interior and chassis to keep the body firm, but lightweight. The result, the empty weight of this supercar recorded in the figure of 1,300 kg.

In the body of the carbon supercar they also planted a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a capacity of 3.8-liter, and combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission system. With the power of 650 hp able to make this car run fast on the streets. However ATS confirmed that there is also an upgrade package that can make the output power to be larger up to 700 hp with 750 Nm of torque.

Power from the engine is able to make the car accelerates from rest to 100 kph in 3 seconds with launch control, and 0-190 kph in 9.9 seconds. Meanwhile, the highest speed that can be reached by this car is about 331 kph.
For driving comfort, there are three driving modes to choose from: Viaggio for the standard road, then Sport, and Corsa is the option when driving on a race track. In Corsa mode, the engine and suspension settings are mounted on the most aggressive conditions with its instrument screen showing Formula One style data.

For the legs, this supercar equipped with 20-inch sized rims on the front and 21 inches at the rear, and using the Brembo's brake caliver. These Italian supercar has brakes with maximum traction, thanks to the air brake installed at the rear. But unfortunately, there's no price info, but it is estimated that the car will be sold at a price of around £1 million (or approx. Rp.17,6 billion). *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | MOTORING RESEARCH | AUTOCAR]
