Jaguar attracted by the sweetness of SUV segment

Jaguar has plans to produce SUVs, it is seen by the viewing of the C-X17 concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, some time ago. Maybe someone will thinks, that the British automaker whose its shares are majority owned by Tata Motors makes the SUV was a counter-productive move.

Because Land Rover (other automakers in the same ownership with Jaguar) is a SUV specialist. However Jaguar believed, the off-road enthusiasts will not turn away from Land Rover. And C-X17 will be bought by those who need crossover, to conquer the steep road as well as having better visibility with comfortable interior space.

This is Jaguar strategy to be able to roar in between a row of German vehicles. "We do not intend to challenge them directly. We want to change the vocabulary of 'the German three' into 'the European four'," said Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar Global Brand Director as quoted from Autocar site.

He also revealed the tactics that will be implemented by Jaguar with the launch four new models until 2018. Among the models that we will see over the next five years is a sedan, compact saloon, coupe, and SUV.

As quoted from Car and Driver site, from its dimensions the prime candidate of Jaguar SUV could be compared with the Audi Q5 and BMW X3. For the engine is still unknown, but the C-X17 is expected to carry a V6 engine which is completed with a supercharger to increase the engine power output. Also mentioned, the C-X17 is four-wheel drive SUV.

There are two interesting things when the Jaguar crossover concept is introduced. First, the C-X17 will enter production line late next year or early 2015. Second, three-fourths its part, i.e starting from the front, and not visible from the C-X17 concept model then replace it with "Advanced Modular Aluminum Archietecture"

According to Jaguar, for the next generation of cars will be given a touch of "Next-generation Lightweight Technologies" in which this technology will applied the aluminum monocoque chassis. So even though this car has a fairly large dimensions, but still mild compared to other cars in its class. The SUV design is so thick with Jaguar's characteristic, with wide oval-shaped grille, the narrow fierce headlamp, and then resolute indentations on the hood that shows its class as a premium cars. Perhaps someday Jaguar also interested in creating its hybrid version..
For the C-X17's interior shown with the classic style of Jaguar concept was so deeply felt, indeed from the first that the Jaguar always puts the quality and comfort while maintaining simplicity. One further advantage is the car's interior features provide full control to the passengers who were in the back through the 'Surface Console' panel which is implemented with touch screen technology. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | AUTOCAR | CAR AND DRIVER]
