10 World's Largest Helicopters (Part-1)

Conflicts and disasters are not always considered to be something bad. But there are positive things behind it, which triggers the development for better technology. One of them in terms of technological development of air transport, such as the helicopter.

Here are the 1st part of ten largest in the history of transport helicopters, as quoted from Autoevolution. These helicopters can fly with a maximum take-off weight of more than 10 tons.

10. Boeing Vertol CH-46 Sea Knight
Flying with twin turbines, CH-46A Sea Knight is the result of a design competition for helicopter transport. Helicopter used by the United States Marine Corps in 1961. 9. Aérospatiale SA 321 Super Frelon

7. Boeing CH-47D Chinook 

Boeing CH-47D Chinook helicopter is one of the most popular in the world and have a multi mission. It could be used for military purposes such as moving troops, artillery, ammunition, fuel and disaster relief purposes such as medical evacuation and firefighting. This helicopter uses two propeller systems, and Chinook helicopters are the most efficient transportation helicopter. Its ability to carry the load maximum take-off weight of 22.68 tonnes and has 30.1 meters in length with a blades diameter of 18.3 meter.

6. Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey
Unlike another helicopters in general, Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey takes off and lands like a helicopter, but could fly like an airplane. Its powered by two Rolls-Royce Allison T406/AE 1107C -Liberty engines, with a propeller diameter 11.6 meters. Total length is 17.5 meters.
