The Next Tesla Electric SUV

Electric car market in the future is increasing and is expected to be a trend at the global level and one of the leading brand in the electric cars world, Tesla Motors demonstrated their latest electric car, the Tesla Model X.

Tesla's plan will begin to introduce their cheapening electric SUV in the next three to four years. As preached by Autonews, on Friday, May 31, 2013. Elon Musk, Tesla Motors CEO said that later their newest electric SUV will be introduced in a few years.

Musk said that this electric SUV car has a more stylish design than conventional SUVs and higher performance than a Porsche 911 Carrera. Model X uses about 60% of the same components with the Model S, including the lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the bottom of the car. In the sales package, Tesla will present two battery options, 60 kWh of which is able to push the car's speed up to 322 km (200 miles) or 85 kWh which has a mileage of 434 km (270 miles).

Model X uses the Model S chassis that has been extended four inches to make room for the third row seats so the car can accommodate up to seven people. One of the unique design is presented in this car is located in the rear door design that carries the Gull-wing doors. Not only that, Tesla provides ample luggage space for storing goods. Musk also compares the luggage space with another SUV, the Audi Q7 in particular, which does not offer a similar space efficiency.

An AC 3-phase induction motors and fixed gears of Model S is also fitted in the Model X to drive the rear wheels, while the choice of a small motor in the rear tires provide all-wheel drive capability for this electric SUV. Model X is claimed to be able to run up to 96 kph (60 mph) is reportedly going to be sold at a price of U.S. $ 49,900 (or approx Rp. 518 million).
