Red Improve Reaction Speed and Strength

The red color was found to affect the reaction speed and strength of human muscle. A new study published in the journal Emotion found that, when people see the color red, their reaction will be much faster and stronger. But people are less aware of the effects of the intensification of color.
This discovery may have applications for sports and various other activities that require a burst of energy and speed in a short time, such as heavy lifting. But the researchers caution that the study of energy supply this color seems to last only briefly. "Red and increase your physical reaction because it is seen as a danger signal," said Andrew Elliot, professor of psychology at the University of Rochester in New York, United States, the study's principal investigator in the field of color psychology. "The human face flushed when they are angry or ready to attack. People are very wary of discoloration on the face of others and the implications." But the threat is a double-edged sword, said Elliot and his colleague, Henk Aarts, a psychology professor at Utrecht University in The Netherlands. "In addition to gathering additional energy, raising the threat of unrest, it is difficult to concentrate when working on assignments, and self-absorbed, all of which burden the mental resources," said Elliot in a report. In the previous color research, exposure to red color proved to hinder the mental and motor tasks. For example, athletes who face a red uniformed opponent will most likely defeat and the students are exposed to red before the exam will have difficulty doing the tests. "Color affects us in many ways, depending on the context," said Elliot, who also examined how men and women unconsciously attracted to the opposite sex when they wore red. "Color outside the radar's influence on our consciousness." The study focused on isometris or indirect physical response that makes scientists can measure the energy response of the volunteers, not the behavior can vary between individuals and situations.*** [SCIENCEDAILY | TJANDRA | KORAN TEMPO 3554]
