Is this the cockroach ancestor?

Lived about 100 million years ago, these findings seem to have similarities with modern cockroaches. Have a size below one centimeter, this unique animal has wings to fly just like cockroaches or mantis.

The ancient cockroach included in Manipulator modificaputis that finally classified as a family of cockroaches and called Manipulatoridae. The species is found trapped in amber (fossilized tree resin) that are predators and hunt at night. Impression of the ancient cockroach may be frightening.

This specimen has a head that can move with big eyes and a neck long enough to be able to hunt. This ancient cockroach also has a small body and wings, legs and mouth parts that stake, and eyes that are at the top of the head.

Ancient cockroach was discovered at a mine in Noije Bum, Myanmar by German researcher named Ziggi Ellenberger. Initially, scientists suspect that this specimen is the mantis. But thanks to the explanation of Dr. Peter Vrsansky of the Geological Institute of Bratislava and the Slovak Academy of Sciences, that view changed.

"This little monster is a quiet hunter, able to run very fast, able to fly suddenly, and has very long legs," said Vrsansky.

As reported by New Scientist on Thursday, April 30, 2015, at the time of the dinosaurs there are many types of cockroaches predators. Cockroach ancient predators that continue to evolve and is now leaving only one type of derivative, the mantises.

Mantises have the front feet characteristics such as Manipulator modificaputis and a close relative of the cockroach. Through this discovery, Vrsansky suggest the revisions of Dictyoptera classification, super-order that includes the nation of thermite, cockroaches, and mantises. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | NEW SCIENTIST]

NASA's e-Car can be move sideways like a crab

US space agency, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has developed the future vehicle called Modular Robotic Vehicle (MRV) at the NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston.

MRV is made with the boxy body design and without a roof. It also has a small size ie 2.1 meters long, 1.5 meters wide, and weighs only 907 kilograms. The cabin can be carried only two people. Power source comes from a battery that has a mileage of 100 kilometers for one recharge. Its maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour.

The most unique thing of MRV is the use of a new feature, e-corners, which is able to make all four wheels can rotate approximately 180 degrees. This can help the driver when maneuvering in narrow streets. Because of the NASA design the MRV as urban public transport.

"This two-seater vehicle designed to meet the challenges and demands of the growing urban transportation. MRV is ideal because of its size small and agile maneuver which could provide an advantage in runs and on-site parking is limited," said Mason Markee, a spokesman for Johnson Space Center as quoted by the Daily Mail on Wednesday, April 16, 2015.
Until now there has been no further information about when this car will be produced as well as the selling price. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL | INHABITAT]

It turns out, T-Rex's relatives was the plant eaters

When we heard the news about the Tyrannosaurus rex (T. rex) generally are reminded of a very large body size, has a fierce and ferocious face. However, the impression is quite different from the fossils of T-Rex 's relatives that found in Chile.

Chilesaurus diegosuarezi walked on its hind legs
as other theropods did. It also had robust forelimbs
that looked like those of other Jurassic theropods,
such as the Allosaurus, the researchers said.
(Picture from: http://bit.ly/1GAZvDU)
Chilesaurus diegosuarezi is the relatives of Tyrannosaurus rex alias the renowned ancient carnivorous meat eater. However, Chilesaurus diegosuarezi was not follow the footsteps of their relatives, and evolved into herbivores.

"When I saw the shape of the bones, there seems to be different," said Fernando Novas, one of the researchers of Berbardino Rivadavia Museum of Natural Sciences in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He argues, this dinosaur seem unusual because different combinations of the three types of groups other dinosaurs.

When it was in 2010, two geologists found several fossils around Chile. One is Chilesaurus diegosuarezi. Since these findings, the Chile and Argentina cooperate researching dozens of fossil Chilesaurus.

Although not all parts of the dinosaur was discovered, researchers found something different. Chilesaurus had a small skull, long neck but large, and the legs are not straight. "Chilesaurus's legs is to walk, not for run," said Novas.
Chilesaurus diegosuarezi has characteristics of three different dinosaur groups. Its pubic bone points backward like that of an ornithischian dinosaur, perhaps because it provided the gut more surface area with which to digest plant matter, the researchers said. (Picture from: http://bit.ly/1GAZvDU)
Meanwhile, according to Thomas Carr of Carthage College in Wisconsin, Chilesaurus an amazingly unique species. Because, through Chilesaurus findings can be known about the evolution of dinosaurs. Such as the type of theropod dinosaurs that walked on foot and meat eaters, it can evolve into herbivores or plant eaters.. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | LIVESCIENCE]
