SSC Tuatara debuts at Peeble Beach with its 'unmatched drag coefficient'

Now, officially Koenigsegg and Bugatti will have the latest rivals that also produce hypercar with ferocious engines. Here's she is Shelby Super Car (SSC), an American automotive company that has been created a hypercar with an outstanding performance.

And the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance event, which was held on August 25-26 2018, in Monterey, California, was then utilized by the company to showcase its ambitions by introducing their hypercar, which was named 2019 SSC Tuatara.

Actually, the body shape of Tuatara was already seen when its concept model shown in 2011 ago, this means SSC takes 8 years to develop Tuatara more aggressively than its first product, SSC Aero. Visually, the appearance of the Tuatara not much different to the concept model.

At the glimpse, the side view shows that the curves of body resembles like most hypercar today. The shape is sloping from the middle to the front with the fender indentation that extend to the rear to maximize aerodynamics. And then on the rear there's a hypercar standard components in the form of spoilers.

While seeing the car from above reminds us of the shape and design of Batmobile. Overall, the Tuatara has dimensions of 174.4 inches (4,429 mm) in length, 78.4 inches (1,991 mm) wide and 43 inches (1,092 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 105.2 inches (2,672 mm). Thanks to the use of carbon fiber material, Tuatara weight reached 2,750 lbs (1,247 kg).

As reported by Top Gear, behind the hood, there is a twinturbo V8 engine with a capacity of 6,900 cc and capable of spraying power up to 1,750 horsepower (with E85 Fuel) or 1,350 horsepower (with 91 Octane Fuel). Not enough there, SSC also claimed that those engine power was able to make Tuatara shot up to exceed speed of 447 km/h.

Due to its sleek design, the car was said to have a 0.279 inch drag coefficient, significantly lower than its competitors, namely Bugatti Chiron with drag coefficient 0.36, Koenigsegg Agera 0.33 and Hennessey Venom F5 0.33.
Even the Top Gear states that this car will later get the title as the "unmatched drag coefficient" car. These performance record was deliberately made by SSC to rival the capabilities of the Koenigsegg Agera RS which currently holds the title as the fastest production car with an engine that has a power of 1,160 hp and a top speed of 447 km/hour.
But unfortunately, there's no detail info about the price and whether the car will go into production line or not. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | TOP GEAR]
