Schmidt Hydra Coupé

If you are a fan of comics and animated movie definitely knows the hero figure named Captain America. Captain America is the protagonist figure in one of the famous Marvel comics and he has the biggest enemy named Johann Schmidt who became head of the Red Skull gang.

Johann Schmidt has a supercar named the Schmidt Hydra Coupé which is described as the fastest vehicle on earth, this supercar's engine technology is the result of a stolen tech from aliens. In addition to super-fast, the villain's supercar has a very exotic and macho design.

The desire to see and drive the Johann Schmidt supercar finally become a reality, as the supercar concept was successfully created expressly by Daniel Simon. He was a former designer who worked on the German famous automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen. He left the German automotive giant is to make the fantastic and imaginative works, the examples of his great works i.e Mercedes-Benz 540K, Lotus LMP2 Livery and Bugatti Veyron Hermès.

Before being hired to design the villain's vehicles in Captain America. Simon has just re-rendered one of those - the almost psychedelically cool Schmidt Hydra V16 Coupé - in a beautiful HD quality short film, which you can watch here.

"Joe Johnston, who directed Captain America movie, is a huge car fanatic himself, but I was worried that he thought that my work was maybe too futuristic or stylised. But he hired me. The film is set in 1942 and the main villain, Schmidt, has this fanatical vision for the future. So my brief was to dream up something that would have seemed wildly futuristic, but in 1942...," Simon said as reported of TopGear on August 12, 2012.
The result is an awesome steam-punk mash-up of Auto Union Type C and Avus stream-liner, Mercedes 540K, pre-war Bentleys, and the half-track Mercedes G4 staff car favoured by Hitler and his goons in the Wehrmacht. With its 10 wheels and 7.62 m length, the Hydra Coupé almost steals the film, though the real thing - which was built on a truck chassis - had a dragster engine but no suspension.
As ever with Simon's work, the surfacing is astoundingly real, and the quality of the film allows you to luxuriate in the detail in the car's submarine-inspired interior. "I wanted to show how much love and passion goes into movie production design," Simon says. "You're usually too busy to notice it because you'll be immersed in the story." You can watch this supercar in action in the 'Captain America: The First Avenger' movie. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DANIEL SIMON | TOPGEAR]
