The first electric car in the Dakkar Rally

The Dakar Rally is the most ferocious rally in the world and held again this year also has a new historical record, because it was followed by a pure electric-powered cars.

The company designed and built the first electrically powered car based entirely on renewable sources, prepared for an extreme adventure such as the Dakar, the world's toughest motor race as well as successfully completed the first stage.

Acciona electric car which successfully completed the first round of Buenos Aires to the Villa Carlos Paz as far as 700 kilometers more. "This is a new milestone for the Dakar Rally, because after 37 previous editions (37 years) followed by fossil-fueled car, now followed by the first non-emission cars (electric)," wrote Acciona in a statement on its website.

The company says, that Albert Bosch the Acciona driver and co-driver Agustin Paya, ready to face rally's tough challenges with a distance of more than 9,000 kilometers. Indeed, the ferocity of a race track that runs of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile are often deadly for the racers.

Meanwhile, Acciona goal to involve their car in the rally scene, is to prove the reliability of the electric car to the world. Evidently, to finished the first stage, Acciona did not experience the slightest problem.

This car uses four lithium ion batteries. The battery total capacity of 140 kWh. Then the electric motor uses synchronous electric engine which is equivalent to 300 CV but has a weighs only 80 kg. Compare with other conventional engined rally car with weights ranging from 280 Kg.
