Is it true the long wait of Tornante will end next year?

After nearly three years only as a concept car, eventually the German manufacturer, the Gumpert Sportwagen Manufacturing (GSM), will released their supercar. With under a new investor, GSM introduced the Gumpert Tornante at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 last week.

The company conducted colaboration with the Italian design firm Touring Superleggera to design this supercar in the year of 2011. Tornante was a mid-engine supercar that uses gull-wing system at the door and also as friendly supercar in the use of the highway that allows GSM to reach a wider audience. This 2-seater coupé is claimed as a fast tourer that promises efficiency, superior performance and pleasure.

As quoted from MotorAuthority, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, The GSM Head of Marketing and Sales, Harald Schegel reveal the reasons behind the Tornante launch. "The first time Tornante concept was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2011 and will begin production in 2015. Taking the Apollo's platform, Tornante will be made to order and will be exhibited at the Geneva Motor show 2015," said Schegel.

If previous GSM only able to sell Apollo 60 units since its birth in 2005. And now GSM expect that Tornante can be sold around 150-200 units in the next two years. GSM looks very ambitious embed the Gumpert Apollo gene into the Tornante.

"Although the production version may look slightly different from the original concept," he he said later. As per the concept, Tornante will be equipped with a V8 twin-turbocharged engine, which has a capacity of 4,200 cc and capable of spewing power of 700 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque.
Of course, with the output, weight and some of the latest technology that is fitted into the Tornante.
