How to save yourself from Nuclear radiation?

The radiation from a nuclear explosion is very threatening our lives. Researchers suggest someone to hide in a shelter in the event of a nuclear explosion, but from the recent research reveals that a better run off rather than hide out.

Michael Dillon, a researcher from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, suggest someone to run off rather than hide in the event of a nuclear explosion. Because someone would choose a house or cellar for a hideout from nuclear radiation. But, according to the researchers the safe house is not secure enough.

"When your hideout could be said weak, and there are better hiding places in the running off distance no more than five minutes, we encourage you to run and hide in the hiding place," said Dillon as quoted from DailyMail, on Sunday, January 19, 2014.
Choose Your Own Adventure: Nuclear Bomb Blast. There are three possible paths. 1. Find the closest shelter and stay there. 2. Find an initial shelter, then move to a better one. Or 3. Walk and find a better shelter instead of staying in a crappy one. (Picture from: http://www.businessinsider.com/)
However it should be underlined, there is a minimum time limit in safe houses or shelters outside just after the nuclear explosion. Humans are safe from radiation if they are outdoors in a matter of 30 minutes.

"If you occupy a bad shelter and other shelters are more secure, you should run off to the shelter. Less than 30 minutes after you heard the nuclear explosion. If this is adopted by every one, there will be 10 thousand to 100 thousand human lives can be saved," Dillon said further. *** [EKA | FROM VARIOUS SOURCES | DAILYMAIL | BUSSINESS INSIDER]
