Just another 4 Simple Café Racer Motorcycles

Café Racer is a separate stream for some motorcycle enthusiasts who like to modify the bikes.  Judging from history, that the café racer modifications stream arise from UK's young people who like to race from café to café. Right now many the world's modifier began to combine the modern motorcycle part to support the display of Café Racer style custom motorcycle.

After surfing the internet to see pictures of motorcycles, eventually I found four café racer motorcycles which coming from different classes but appear in the same style, the cafe racer which I think is a very simple yet gorgeous. Here they are,

4. Yamaha Scorpio Café Racer

This is a 2011 Yamaha Scorpio motorcycle that has been transformed by an Indonesian builder. In the hands of Indra Pratama of Thrive Motorcycle-Jakarta, the motorcycles with 225 cc of engine capacity was converted into a special priceless appearance. The initial idea manifested in a sketch on paper, and inspired by the Japanese cartoon "Kamen Rider", Indra change the whole motorcycle body, add a touch of café-racer design.

Long made swing arm parts, body frame and shock is created and mounted a bit down and flat with the galvanized tank that coated anti-corrosion materials, for headlights mounted two lights that resemble eyes and given the lamp cover and at the top were the graphic lines connect up to the tank.

So the Scorpio looks from the front is similar to Kamen Rider face. The sheep skin saddle was made for single seater, and all-parts created by hand. The simple and elegant paint in the red, black and gray matte dominant colors. The paint is inspired by the color of Lamborghini Sesto Elemento.

3. The Brat
Australian duo modifier, Rex Havoc and Brad, accidentally put the impression of 'recalcitrant' on a 1972 Honda CB350. The motorcycle was later given the name 'The Brat'. One thing that is unique installed on this bike is the installation of the mirror on the right side of the front axle instead on the handlebars.

The modifier gives an explanation, that function is actually more capable especially if the motor driving while ducking, because the reflection of an object on a conventional mirror on the handlebars may not appear if the object was short. But with a mirror on the bottom, the reflection object will be seen more clearly.

It was built from the motorcycle that sold for U.S. $ 1,600, or approximately Rp. 17 million on e-Bay. Although minimal, this bike got runners-up postion in a special Japanese motorcycle contest in Australia. Under the name of Garage Project Motorcycles, they made the wrappers design for all straight motorcycle exhaust.

They also embellish the CB 350 with a few things like adding a vintage Firestone tires and use drum brakes. The duo also decided to eliminate the standard brake light in the rear and replace it with the small size of the lower left. As a result, 'The Brat' so eccentric, although still stubborn with minimal versatile layout and leave an empty space under the saddle.

2. Lazareth Dokujya

The Slick and unique creation of Lazareth, a French motorcycle builder called Lazareth Dokujya. This motorcycle inspired by 1999 Honda NAS motorcycle concept. So it is not strange if this Dokujya applies of Honda VTR1000 Vtwin engine, which has a capacity of 996 cc as the source of driving force.

There are little extreme touches that added to its engine, ie the addition of the MINI Cooper Supercharger that could spewing power up to 140 hp. The power then channeled to drive the rear wheels through 6-speed transmission systems, chain.

Other innovative features of the Lazareth Dokujya include the oversized single front fork, and specially fabricated aluminium subframe. The Lazareth Dokujya borrows other elements from manufacturers other than Honda. The rear swingarm is a modified MV Agusta F4 unit and the tail section is derived from the Yamaha R1 unit.

1. Goldammer Nortorious

Nortorious was built in 2007 at Goldammer Cycle Works in Vancouver, it won the Canadian Championship in 2007 and came 9th at the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building in the same year. Despite the fact that the bike is now 6 years old it still blows my mind each time I see it. Although it looks fairly straight forward it’s actually a turbo-charged engineering tour de force featuring more custom engine components.

That large single cylinder engine is actually half of a Harley V-Twin unit, as a single it has a capacity of 965 cc and it’s sitting on a Merch engine case. The internal components to make the engine actually work without shaking itself to pieces come from Engenuity, Merch, Harley-Davidson, Ross & Jims, AV&V, Thunder Heart and custom Goldammer components.

The fact that the engine not only runs, but runs with a 120,000 rpm Rotrex turbo charger bolted onto the side is a marvel of human ingenuity and creativity.
