The Careeta Machine

After a long search.... So on this occasion I will try to show the articles that discuss a custom motorcycle from the Indonesian modifier which is not less beautiful.

Do not be fooled by its appearances, because the motorcycle that looks like an engine pile almost without smooth glossy color paint. However, this custom motorcycle managed to be a champion for the "Free For All (FFA)" category in the Kustomfest 2012 event which held in Yogyakarta, early October, 2012.

This custom motorcycle is the work of Bandung origin home modification, Retrogrades SlaughterHouse (RSH), which called 'Careeta Machine' (or translated in English mean 'the train engine').

The typical display of the custom motorcycle with the original color of iron is the main point that make it win. The 'metal expose' concept successfully lured the jury and slick blend of an old BSA motorcycle engine and transmission from Royal Enfield makes the 'Careeta Machine' collaboration more attractive.

Radityo Martin, the creator has felt that the look without paint that accentuate the original color of iron, making the modification concept looks perfect. He also admits that character of his custom motorcycles has strong competitiveness.

Highlight of the 'Careeta Machine' concept is a vehicle that has a stout strong structure made up from the series of iron. "I gave a little black as the shadows on its finishing phase," he explained further.

"I worked on the 'Careeta Machine' for six months. But the concept's thinking process took more than a year. All done with the trial and error and all the ideas just flowed and I make it all by handmade, including the horizontal suspension idea," said Didot, that's the familiar greeting for Radityo.

The series of work started from a motorcycle fuel tank design that resembles an engine block, then proceed with processing oil tank, rear fender, up to the handlebars. After all conceptualized, later he installed the 1948 BSA M20's engine that in collaboration with the 1956 Royal Enfield's four-speed transmission.

To support the performance, Didot applied the Mikuni Kogyo Venturi 32 mm carburetor and for the motorcycle's ignition system using the Magnetto which has the DC current electrical source. Once everything is installed, then he start thinking the right accessories. A pair of the Avon Speedmaster MKII tires mounted in front and rear and attached to the European rim style to give the retro impression.

Interestingly, the headlights mounted in the bottom of the machine with two hidden bulb. No less interesting is the suspension application. To the front suspension using a single middle spring model, similar that applied on the old British motorcycles. As for the rear suspension adopts the horizontal plunger technique. This rear suspension make the jury confused, so it must be tested, whether it was functioning or not.

"Arguably this is one of my innovation. The reason is just the comfort factor even made from the rigid chassis. Installation of the horizontall suspension in order to maintain its rigid scheme," said Didot.

"For the first time I was unsure of the horizontall suspension that placed under the chassis, whether working well? Apparently after I try, the horizontal suspensions can function well and make a motorcycle to be comfortable with the rigid chassis. The character and innovation of the custom bike is very strong," said Edy Red Garage, one of the jurors.
