Hybrid Vehicles More Fuel Efficient

After appearing as a variant of the concept in the event the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Porsche finally declared ready for their first hybrid car. Vehicle, named 918 Spyder Hybrid is projected to fill the expensive hybrid sport sedan segment because the selling price of U.S. $ 980 thousand or Rp. 9 billion.

High prices are due to consumption of fuel extremely efficient, even for a standard car though. By using a capacity of 3.8 liter petrol engine and the V8, the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid only spent 1 liter for a distance of 33.33 km. Porsche is developing a cutting-edge innovations following the increasingly high price of petroleum lately.

Development of advanced hybrid technology by utilizing a flywheel device was made a British Racing Williams. The company is renowned as a maker of a F1 car for Williams F1 team. The plan, after successfully installed in the Porsche 918 Hybrid Speed, ready to be developed similar technology for personal family car and public transportation.

Behind the sophistication of the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid is the latest hybrid technology that combines two units of 160 kW electric motor powered or about 218 PS with petrol engine. The result is the appearance of the maximum power that reaches 767 hp. Amount of power is not inferior to the V8-engined Ferrari sports car as well.

The German car manufacturer dares to claim the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid acceleration reaches 0 - 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h.

In addition to using hybrid technology, Hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder is also able to run only by using an electric motor. Of course by distance and speed are much lower. Porsche's research results, revealing a sports car speed is only reached 150 km/h with the distance using a battery as far as 25 km.

Remarkably, for the filling electrical energy does not require a rechargeable battery. Therefore, the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid equipped with a flywheel components that can utilize the kinetic energy of braking into a power source. So, in addition to saving fuel, it also saves the cost of electrical energy consumption.

Not only does the car drive technology has advanced, from the design also has an eye catching character. The design is made like a sports car for the Porsche designers take inspiration from their pride series, Carrera GT and 917. Similarly, the raw material body is using a mixture of carbon fiber and plastic materials to produce lightweight body construction and powerful.

Porsche's schedule production activities began in 2013. Meanwhile, car bookings can be done since this year. *** [OVI | PIKIRAN RAKYAT 02032012]
